Gur milis Mòrag
Gur laghach Mòrag
Gur milis Mòrag
Nighean Eoghainn Òig
'S i Mòr an àilleachd
'S i laogh a màthair
'S e bhi 'ga tàladh
Mo rogha ceòil
Gur mi bhiodh uallach
Air ruigh nan gruagach
Ach Tormod Ruadh
A bhith fuar fo 'n fhòid
Mo mhile marbhaisg
Air an Fhrangach
Nuair leig e nall thu
Chuir anntlachd oirnn
§§§
Morag is sweet
Morag is nice
Morag is sweet
Young Eoghann's daughter
Mòr is the beautiful one
She is her mother's darling
It is lulling her
that is my choice of music
I would be so happy
at the shieling of the maidens
If only Red-haired Norman
was cold under the turf
My thousand death-shrouds
On the Frenchman
When he let you come back
to upset us
I love this song I remember going away from U.K.a for first time with school I had spent hours in my wheelchair by the time we got to the hotel and I was in pain my teacher started to sing and it helped a lot
Thats a rather beautiful thought
Eines der schönsten Lieder, das ich je gehört habe. Meisterhaft vorgetragen. Grosses Kompliment.
I love this song. Got to see Kathleen MacInnes on stage with Cathy McPhee on the Isle of Lewis, twas such a feast for the ears.
Incredibly beautiful. Amazing voices, amazing musicians, amazing melody. Thank you.
This will never not be absolutely sublime. So much better than the original album version even!
Kathleen, your voice is just fantastic. Bail o Dhia ort .... le gach dea ghui.
Exellente voix qui est en harmonie avec la belle musique 🎶
Kathleen MacInnes and Sarah Jarosz? What an incredible duo! I feel so blessed to have heard this melody. This music must be preserved and nurtured. What a priceless cultural treasure!
Instablaster.
Beautiful. I can’t understand it, but I so love Kathleen McInnes’ voice.
My God this is beautiful!
The Transatlantic Sessions is such a wonderful collection of music.
I first discovered Sarah when she shared and ACL episode with Steve Martin. Have followed her since.
Very nice song. Tears come out feeling nostalgia.
Sgoinneil! Fantastisk! What a voice Kathleen McInnes has!
Lovely Kathleen!!
Absolutely lovely!
Beautiful, just.
Beautiful sing. Thanks!
absolutely beautiful .....
it tears at your heart strings
So enjoy Kathleen.
Blissful music!
❤️❤️❤️ beautiful in every way!
Beautifull voice and melody.
Just saw Sarah last night in a venue where we were in the front of a balcony 30 feet from her. There really aren't words. She fills you up. Her two band members are stunning in their own right. Do see her if you can. I drove 5 hours to get there. Worth every minute.
J ST i had this with julie fowlis, singing 10ft away from me. Watching me in the eyes! I fell in love
"Her two band members" being Aoife O'Donovan and Sara Watkins, specifically.
They are indeed a superb trio.
Exquisite!!! ❤❤❤
Oh my heart.
how can someone dislike this?!?
What a magnificent piece, wonderful vocals, very good musicians and I never knew that Nollaig Casey could sing.
A pretty song and sweet like Morag.
Bravo.
Pure ecstacy!
Beautifull voice and melody. I do not understand Gelidh, but it sounds mysterious and sweet.
Mysterious indeed. In that beautiful song she's wishing her ex-husband dead, and cursing the French soldier who didn't kill him!
Words and translation in the description ...
Nice to have a translation with the song now. Although nice is the wrong word if i see the translation. But the melody is still beautiful.
Do you need a translation? Beautiful sounds are beautiful sounds.
@@timothygraham4304 bruh, songs are stories, and this makes you want to sing along, but you have no business butchering this ancient language if you don't know what it means.
@@timothygraham4304 but the song is bittersweet, it's a remarkable story you don't appreciate without the translation. Reminds me of the films Martin Guerre and Sommersby

I don't know what she is saying but it's beautiful. I'm probably not the first person to mention that fact, but damn, that is class!
Words and translation in the description ...
Go hálainn ar fad...
Makes me cry and I don't know the words what does the song mean?
click on "show more".... and pray you aren't either Norman or French ;)

Does Sarah speak Irish (Gaelic), or did she learn it just for singing? It's so beautiful! I want to learn the language one day - I have been a HUGE fan of Celtic Woman ever since they began, over 11 years ago - I've been to see them many, many times, and I remain friends with Orla Fallon, who is one of the original memebers.
I guess Sarah just learned the chorus lyrics :)
Yeah - I guess if she spoke the language, she would probably know the whole song! She's from Texas, you know, so probably didn't take Gaelic in high school! Ha! Ha!
Hi Beverly they are singing in Scottish Gaelig it close to Irish with a little difference Both sound lovely in traditional music
Yes, it's a beautiful language! Thank you so much for the information!
It’s not Irish. It’s Scottish Gaelic.

who are the instrumentalists please.
Aly Bain and Nollaig Casey (violin), Danny Thompson (upright bass), Jerry Douglas (lap steel)
i should have known Aly Bain, thank you!!
Michael McGoldrick in flute
And Donald Shaw on - keyboard - or hasn't he had enough to put up with, to warrant inclusion. Shallow people. A shining talent through the years.
Just to be totally different to everyone else, let me say - nothing's ever good that has the phrase "mo mhìle marbhfhaisg" in it, is it?
Is this sung in Gaelic?
Yes, Scottish gàidhlig
