My grandparents led a simple life, not knowing anything about science or trigonometry or mitochondria. They ate simple greens and veggies and tubers and cereals and the occasional meat, fish or eggs. All four of them lived beyond 94 and could have easily lived up to a 120, I feel, were it not for the stresses of modernity creeping up on them, loss of property, etc. forcing their children to move away in search of livelihoods.

She’s 75 yet looks mid fifties and she’s not using gizmos to achieve this- it’s butter, liver, fish eggs, and fatty meat plus some carbs drenched in animal fat. If everyone put in the effort to try different things or take a different approach there would be more open minded individuals.

All I know is being moderate has saved me truckloads of effort and obsessing.
What I find is if I wait long enough ...then people come to my point of view.
When everyone was on the Pritikin diet I took no notice and ate butter on my bread and yoghurt. Everyone on Pritikin looked dried-out and stressed. Macrobiotics? We'd call it Macroneurotics..
It goes on. More fanatical thinking.
If you're stressed you aren't going to absorb food properly. This is basic.
Best avoid processed foods, that's a given.
Eat organic if you can but if you cannot, then get leafy greens that are organic, Wash your veg with detergent clean them and dry them.
Plus neither of these guys mention the ubiquity of alcohol and how adverse it is on the body. It's a major carcinogen. Also many people cannot process caffeine. So just reduce your caffeine and have it in the morning. No need to be fanatical. Just watch your body and take note.
IDK why everyone is crazily wearing spandex and riding bicycles to breathe in pollutants in concentrated bursts and try to wrangle the traffic. Diesel fumes in particular are carcinogenic. The bicycle crowd are particularly annoying IMO.
A brisk walk each day with some uphill, relax, and do some stretches.
      It's easy.

Should a lion feel shame for eating what is required to keep him strong and healthy ? Also, vegans conveniently "forget" that plants are also living beings, and they also don't want to be eaten (hence the lectins). Morality blended with nutrition = mass manipulation .

Don't complicate anything with foods. Best anti aging ever is simply resistant weight training and getting your Vo2 up and what you believe you become as the mind doesn't know the difference to whats real and whats not, simply think about eating a whole lemon and your body acts as if you did and produces the same chemicals as actually eating it, So, what you think about you bring about.

I.e. repeating the exercise after we feel good is good or does it intervene with the adaptation, like weight lifting sets, sprinting or other exercises? People used to say we should rest very short durations between sets for hypertrophy and I'm hearing that's changing, now they say rest until you feel strong again like the powerlifters do. Also they used to say don't stop suddenly after you run, keep walking until your heartrate returns to normal.

He's absolutely right about Omega 3s. Excess PUFAs esp long chain fatty acids like DHA, and even EPA, is hard for the body to get rid of. It's really no different than how the body can't get rid of heavy metals. Body's recycling bin is called lysosomes. What lysosomes can't digest start accumulating in your body, and will even eventually show up on your skin, called *lipofuscin* (sometimes wrongly called liver spots). Thomas, I would like to ask you a question, I hope you don't mind.
mTOR seems like a crucial factor for building muscles. So, if I am on an immunosuppressant med which is also an mTOR inhibitor, am I just spinning my wheels by lifting weights and trying to gain some mass? Is it possibly even counterintuitive? I understand if you might not be able to fully answer this but I'm hoping that maybe you can point me in the direction where I can gain some clarity... Thanks!

Meaning what would be potentially beneficial vs potentially a waste of time and money. I would be more than happy with even a good hypothesis really... if it's not possible, that's more than all right, I just thought to throw it out there and see what sticks. Thanks again.

I don't expect to get back into cycling or heavy lifting for a while but I'm finding pleasure in putzing around in the gym as well as rucking. I'm a true neliever in something is better than nothing. After each set, i just sit for 3 minutes because Im beat. I look at my watch for my heart beat and it goes down pretty quick to tier one.
I always thought staying in tier two was better but im glad to know that my body is adapting fast and that it is a good thing.

@AtoZandba 😆😆😆 I just got back from the gym and I decided to do lighter weights because I'm old. Everyone tells me to go easier because I don't use a belt. So I worked out with 320lbs sets of 4. Did 3 sets of then went to 340lbs. My max this year in squats is 380lbs but I'm getting older. I normally do 400lbs once a year.
I only started heavy weights at 58 years old. So I'm late to the game.
I did up my deadlift to 420lbs no belt. And my workout out sets are 3 plates on each side now of 8 reps. 3 minutes rest.
So, for me it's not showing off. I have depression so I punish myself with heavy weights because my mental pain is worse.
My form is strict on the leg press and I keep my butt down.
I do 30 minutes of yoga so my ankles and hips are pretty flexible.
I think it's rude to put people down when you don't know me and my workouts. But you do you.

Bravo bravo bravo Dave for discovering methionine and its link to cancer growth!! Yes! The other thing to know about cancer is antioxidants! Antioxidants protect cancer. So while antioxidants are good before cancer they are not good when you have cancer because before cancer antioxidants are protective of healthy cells but once cancer starts and because cancer cells are rapidly dividing cells they grab up all the antioxidants to protect themselves. The cancer needs them more than healthy cells because of how rapidly they are dividing and creating oxidative stress and free radicals

@@guflportgyrl I’m not sure which topic you are referring since you didn’t clarify but if you’re wanting to learn more about methionine and its link to cancer go to Pubmed. Type in “ Methionine and cancer”. If you’re referring to antioxidants do the same thing. Although antioxidants are a little more tricky so you have to search properly for the correct topic. Reason being is that antioxidants are healthy and needed prior to having cancer but once you have cancer you need to stop because they protect cancer once it starts. Try typing “ glutathione and cancer”. Again, it’s very critical to understand with each conversation or article that you read whether the topic is antioxidants before cancer or after. Absolutely vital distinction

The reality is there are vegan centenarians and they don't look much older than Dave. Dave doesn't look like he'll get close to centenarian longevity. So as much as I'm not interested in giving up meat, every time someone comes out and makes anti vegan comments similar to those Dave made in this video it harms their credibility because they are ignoring the evidence. You can't go around making expert claims regarding longevity and say vegan is not the way or vegan is nutritionally deficient for the purpose of longevity when vegans are living past 100 years old and when it's clear you're not going to live as long as those vegans.
