I straightened my whole head of hair for the first time in two years after growing out my perm! I didn’t do a big chop I just wore protective styles and had a stylist clip my ends 3 times! I must say this is the first time I proudly wore my own hair pressed since a kid!
I don't blame you for not doing a big chop if I ever decide to stop relaxing my hair I would do that too. I couldn't see myself cutting off most of my hair because Im letting it go in it's natural texture.
After how many days then then reiron?

I’ve decided to only straighten my hair during the fall/winter. I live in Charleston & this humidity does not play with us naturals okay? 😂 These are great tips though!

You have to use products that protects against the humidity, I believe design essentials have a humidity line and other hair products as well.

Do you workout? I’m starting to be a straight natural but I workout.
Legally Afro I’m start working out and I’m straight natural I been looking at videos and some say Wrap your hair, tie scarf and then a cap so hair stay in place I’m thinking doing a cotton scarf and some kind cap just for the gym
I always tell my clients go to Walmart and get a sweat head band it’s a picture of a lady or a man running on the packaging it works !
I’m also natural and when I workout, I wrap my hair with a large silk scarf prior to my workout and the secret is to not unwrap the scarf until your hair is completely dry. After my hair has completely dried, I brush my hair and it maintains it’s straightness.
I chilled on the cardio and did a lot of resistant workouts.. lose weight faster and didn’t sweat my hair out
Wear a cap. Bonus points if it’s silk/satin lined (you can do it yourself or buy caps already like this)

Did you silk press your hair originally or just blow dry to straighten it? Also what is the longest you can keep your hair straightened before washing/ conditioning and can it oiled once a week, or will that cause it to frizz up?

I got mine pressed the other day, it started frizzing up that night, because it got hot in the house 🥺

I'm straightening my hair today & I'm glad you mentioned dry shampoo 😊 I've never thought abt using something like that but i may have to look into it for my straight hair routine. How often do you moisturize your hair when straight?
When my hair is straight I do not add any additional moisture, because for me it will lead to frizz. I will usually just add serum.
lavidavi try Cantu Shea Butter Apple Cinder Vinegar Dry Co-Wash doesn’t leave white residue and is not expensive. Has tree tea oil in it
dry shampoo its related to hair loss, i would not get that product near my scalp!
@@amandarich5561 Yep! Whenever I see people recommending it I skip that part. Dry shampoo is causing issues for people who was regularly, I certainly wouldn't be leaving it on my scalp for 1-2 weeks!😬

its no way around it, you have to wash your hair when it gets sweaty, as sweat contains salt, and salt dries the hair!

so I straighten my Afro hair in the morning curl it and it looks absolute slay and then and then it comes to the end of the school day and it looks horrible I mean we have been having strong winds for the last week and it’s just messed it up😭😭

I do not oil my scalp. I do not put anything extra on my scalp because I don't wanna weigh my hair down. My scalp stays pretty clean until I wash my hair.
After a week of doing the wrap at night time, I started either putting it in a neat bun or a braided point tail. This gave my hair nice waves or more body the next day. Versus the wrap just made it too straight for my taste. But I like learning all these methods. I wonder if it's ok to keep a silk press for 3 weeks, wash the hair and silk press again right after, or is that a faux-pas?
Usually straight naturals do it once a month..
I do it once per month there are plenty of straight naturals with long healthy hair that straighten once per month or biweekly just deep condition each time and make sure you use the blow dryer and flat iron properly use a leave in conditioner and heat protector also keratin serums combat frizz... not too much heat for your hair...moisturize in between and take care of your hair for it to remain healthy

There’s no way my silk press will ever last that long no matter how good. I sweat quite a bit at night so my left side is revertings. It’s still straight but just puffing up a bit. Should I restraighteb it with low heat

So are you saying that you can put oil and grease on it, cause that explains a lot. I thought I wasn't suppose to put moisture in my hair at all. No wonder it was a struggle.
Oil and grease arent moisturisers they are sealants 👍🏽

Stop saying "it STILL looks good" like there's a "but" in therere, just own it "it looks damn good girl". The shine, length, thickness, everything about it looks the bomb. Don't make even the slightest compliment sound like an excuse or slightly pull a doubted face when black hair looks that good and it's all yours - natural. WRAPPING HAIR - I reckon if you were to lightly plait it, say four or even two big plaits and put the jumbo bonnet on your hair, it would probably have a lovely wave when you combi it out and look enviably nice. Give it a try and let us know how it looks cos is something I've been thinking of doing when my hair gets to my boobs as is pass my shoulders. Anyway, you gave some good advice, gorgeous music to end on and you have a gorgeous face, very pretty - black beauty. Thank you for sharing.

But it would be hair everyday but i didn’t really mind it but, If your hair is shedding A LOT then maybe you should put it in a protective style but if it’s like a couple strands everyday or even if you lay down and see it on your pillow , don’t stress it❤️

This is the most dumbest of statements that I have ever seen on utube. Go and do your research properly. Black and mixed race people are not actually supposed to over wash their hair regularly no matter what hairstyle they may have!
