    You are always very nice and your lessons enjoyable. I would like to add a couple of things for clarity sake: in this original way of telling time in Russian the 1st hour goes from 12 to 1, the 2nd hour from 1 to 2, the third from 2 to 3. If it's 10 past 2 you'll say "десять минут третьего (часа) that is "ten minutes of the third (hour)". It is in the genitive case (родительный подеж). Also in the genitive are the numbers after без, двадцати, пятнадцати и так далее. I maybe would have mentioned четверть ( -ого часа) or без четверти (час)... Пока!

    So If I get this right, the correct way to say for example 10:25 is: двадцать пять минут одиннадцатого, which literally translates as: "25 minutes of the eleventh (hour)". Ещё раз, очень большое спасибо за это видео!

    Your videos are very helpful, and you're an amazing teacher. I like Russia and everything in it, so don't get me wrong when I tell you the Russian language is extremely complex and seems like the structure makes absolutely no sense a lot of the times hahaha! I think that is what makes it awesome to learn it.

      MrRasalgethi thank you for watching and commenting! :)
      I understand what you are saying and in many cases you are right Russian makes little sense, but it is still enjoyable and fascinating to study! ;)

    Is “не подскажите, сколько времени?” in a conditional kind of tense. It still feel like the command form of the verb. I have only limited experience with that tense. I am excited to improve my ability to talk about time in Russian instead of just saying the numbers like off a digital clock. I’ll likely have more questions. Спасибо.

    • @AntoniaRomaker
      @AntoniaRomaker  5 років тому

      It is like a question in a negative form, in Russian we often ask for things in a negative form
      Не подскажете, где автобусная остановка? (Could you tell me where the bus stop is?)
      Не поможешь мне приготовить ужин? (Will you help me cook dinner?)
      Не хочешь сходить в кино? (Do you want to go to the movies?)

    Good job Antonia , I really like to watch and study your class video's, you are very smart , when you have your sister Vera or Tonia as a team mate , that's so lovely to watch .I like studying youtube videos , but by any chance , can you contact me to a class in Russia , where I can set down next to the white board and study ? . I think that would fix me up faster ,I am very interested in the Russian language .so please let me know . If you have time ? I know you are kind enough , I can tell you that much . Thanks so much , Antonia !!

    I have one question, the reason why it extracts one hour.
    My guess is that it means the
    1st, 2nd, 3rd hour after 12 o'clock
    ( eg. 13:05 in your case . It represents the "second hour" after 12:00)
    Is my guess logical?

    it's good Lesson,have suggestions you can pronounce all the numbers from 1st to 12 o clock,so that we can know why we are not using athin and Duah,instead we are using tarovie ,treeti and so on.Need another video on the time again ,I under the subtraction part.but can I know the logic behind the subtraction....Russia is facination at times.

    Thanks for the lesson, you made it easy to understand, Russian is getting easier by the day and is starting to make a lot of sense.
    1 small issue, at 4:05 and 5:10 I think you meant subtract 1 hour not extract 1 hour :)

      @AntoniaRomaker  8 років тому +1

      +Tom Lee you are welcome, glad it helped you!

      +Antonia Romaker - English and Russian online.
      Thats ok I just meant "Extract" is used when you are removing something from within something else, for example: You can extract a dinosaur bone from the ground. Or, a doctor could extract a kidney from the patient.
      "Subtract" is used when removing numbers or amounts of things.
      Obviously not a big deal just sounds a bit odd :)
      Would you be able to make a video about some of the different words for 'go' like - идти, ехать, ходить, ездить, уходить, проходить, etc
      It seems like there is a never ending list of different words for 'go' depending on how you are traveling. Is there some logic or history of the words that might make it easier to remember?
      Im sure it would sound weird to russians if I used 'идти' when I should be using 'уходить' or something else!

      However in some classes, I don't write it. Learning how to read in a language is one of the first steps, I have a whole playlist, devoted to it, take a look -

      For example. When it's 5 minutes past 2, the 3rd hour is going, so that 5 minutes of the 3rd hour have passed. In Russian we say '5 minutes of the 3rd' (5 минут третьего).

      Antonia Romaker - English and Russian online I do agree with Kurt that it was very fast; however, I do like that. Somehow, I feel that when you speak faster (like you do in Russia), we'll learn maybe not in the 'fastest way' but in the 'right' way. Good job, Antonia :)
