There was never another show like Seinfeld - I can't tell you how many times I heard somebody in day-to-day life say "This is just like that Seinfeld episode" and everyone back then knew exactly what the person was talking about. The writing was so clever and the ideas were so strong that they became part of regular conversation - a kind of shorthand that practically everyone was clued into and used when describing events that occurred in real life.
Correction: It 'should' have been the perfect plan. But as with most things that are inspired by George, it failed miserably. The funny thing about most of these stories is that Jason Alexander (George Costanza) was playing Larry David. Before Jason knew that, he went to Larry and told him he didn't think that a story about George was believable. Larry said, "What do you mean? That happened to me, and it happened just like that." That was when Jason realized he was playing Larry. It turns out that many of the stories in the show were based on real events that happened to Larry in his real life. Like "The Contest". It was a real event. Many of the others were too. Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm is just as good. Actually, I think it's better. That show is so good it makes you uncomfortable. Larry says the kinds of things that people want to say but society would never permit it.
@@tjm6983 Can't forget The Soup Nazi ! I actually met the actor that portrayed him , Larry Thomas. A restaurant where i live had a contest called The Souper Bowl. Had 14 other restaurants submit soup recipes and had stands with samples. Had live bands playing , it was a helluva party and The Soup Nazi was the head judge ! ! Real nice guy , funny guy , got a signed 8x10 photo from him !
@@toddrouw6019 Bookman, the library dectective!!👍 That guy was too funny! George Costanza's nickname becomes "Cant stand yah" - and he gets atomic wedgies!! 🤣 Hilarious stuff!! 😂
The second clip, Jerry and Kramer switched apartments and they took on each other's personas. It's hilarious before the switch and Kramer is still in there. One of the funniest episodes. Kenny? Kenny? KEEEEEENNY?!
The whole concept of a comedy "about nothing!" is so simple it was brilliant! A day doesn't go buy where I don't run into a situation that's covered in the show. Makes you wonder why it took so long for someone to come up with it. And as a lot of people have said over the years, the guest stars really played a huge part in the success of the show. The lady at the rental car counter played the part perfectly! BTW, you should watch the pilot episode followed by an episode from the final year of 1997. I've done that with Mad About You, Friends, MASH, Two And A Half Men, etc. and even a couple of drama's. Lots of fun to see how they changed over the years.
I have like 4 friends at work and all we do is talk in Seinfeld quotes. It works for everything! Keep watching the full episodes, it only gets better and better!
Seeing brief snapshots without the overall context of the story line makes it hard to appreciate the humor in each clip. But seeing the entire episode makes it all come together. The show was so good that our American culture has absorbed many of the lines from the show as common phrases we all know. That's how you know it was a landmark show.
The big problem with short clips from SEINFELD is that they need context to really work. It's a series of events that all call back to each other as the episode progresses.
You’re going to love The Switch. Abstinence (Kramer turns his place into a smoking area), The Chicken Roaster, The Merv Griffin Show and The Bizarro Jerry (where Kramer gets a job, and it’s difficult to fire him) episodes are among my favorites.
The funny part about the car reservation episode is that he gets the insurance and Kramer ends up driving his car and crashes it. But Kramer is not the one that's insured.
thanks for reacting to 1 of my favourite american shows, pity the clip is so small, but such is life :) my fav seasons have to be from 3-7, season 4 especially as they damn near broke NBC by holding up a mirror to how tv networks actually run. you're both fans of the show, you know what i'm on about.

LMAO I've never seen anyone confused over someone putting sugar in their coffee. This is America sir, were we are free to put sugar in any damn thing we want.
Also, there's so much history behind these clips. When Kramer told the homeless guy he had a horse named Rusty, that was in a previous episode with George's future in-laws. There's so much more I wanna say but I don't wanna keep commenting and being a nusiance. ❤
Could never choose a favourite episode though there are so many favourite moments (none of these, funnily enough). Please just start watching from the beginning and watch them all in order. It's worth seeing the callbacks and references when they happen even though all the episodes stand alone. I think I watched the entire series through from beginning to end at least 3 times and it still holds up.
The red light appartment one is an all time great, "the switch" of course, "the contest" is the episode that put seinfeld into a different stratosphere. Soup nazi, "the rye" which was the appearance of the horse Rusty(same as homeless guy) hilarious episode with the horse one of the main reasons 😂

Seinfeld is my all time favorite show! When the finale took place back in 1998 I was going to school at night, so I had to program my VCR to record it. It was the first and only time I ever had to program a VCR lol Those who know know.

One of my favorite shows. The reservation literally just happened to me last week. Reserved a specific vehicle a few days prior. Show up and they don't have it for me. Had to get a completely different vehicle.
And you must watch "The Switch." Its a reference to Jerry dating a girl but liking the roomate more, and trying to come up with a way on how to perform "the switch."
In my younger, hotter days, I not only pulled off the roommate switch, but it was the roommate/sister switch. :) Seinfeld was fantastic. But if you have yet to watch Curb Your Enthusiam, you're only halfway done once you have finished reacting to all the Seinfeld seasons. It's like watching Breaking Bad but skipping Better Call Saul.
George's parents could arguably be the funniest out of the entire cast. They're all gone now:(. Me and Uncle Leo are born on the same day. December 3rd.
I'm so glad you watch Seinfeld and know the characters. I have watched other Seinfeld reactions where the reactors had never watched the show and so much of what was happening was lost on them. Clip #24 is a good example, Kramer is staying in Jerrys' Apt and Jerry is staying in Kramers' Apt. So Kramer takes on Jerrys' Persona/traits and vice versa.
Actually had that reservation thing happen to us. Was so pissed. Had to wait for them to find another car, an upgrade but we ended up leaving for vacation 2 hrs late
Regarding the sweater that George's boss threw on his head while firing him. When you guys see that episode, and see what the inside joke is behind that sweater. You're gonna see why It's so funny. (It's impossible to explain here.
In the 80's, I would reserve a rent a car and pick it up late on a Friday. Usually, my economy car would be sold out. I would get a free upgrade to a nicer car. I felt so smart.

Our kids were raised on Seinfeld. We haven't had a conversation in 20 years without a Seinfeld reference. It's great.
This show never fell off. It’s so good.
It was placed on behind Cheers in season 4 and caught fire after the Contest episode and went to number 1 in seasons 5-9.
