I refuse to buy meat and chicken from Woollies anymore. I now buy from a local butcher because a) the quality is better, and b) I am supporting a local small business. And yes that is water in the chicken. I have been perplexed for years about all the liquid that came out of my chicken when I made a stir fry for example. I was constantly scooping it out and it was stopping the chicken from browning. When I cooked for the first time with the butchers chicken, it browned nicely and I knew something was different. It took me a few minutes to realise there was no water to scoop out. The difference is mind blowing.
I worked st tegel one of the biggest chicken factories 80% of chicken is pumped with h a marinade to boost the weight you will also notice I cooks quicker
I bought a bag of Daley medium roast ground coffee from Coles last week for my new iced coffee maker for $5.50 200g. Quite a deep taste of coffee. You can make a hot coffee too apparently.
Prices are awful. But we have to eat something. A super cold blast of Canadian air is on us again after two balmy days 40F. It's going to feel worse after nice weather.
That chicken looks disgusting with all that water, I always buy chicken thighs here as they are not pumped full of shit, they are also much cheaper than the breast and is a whole lot tastier. I cook them in the oven with Mediterranean veggies and garlic and dried mixed herbs, served with wee baby potatoes and crusty bread x
I don’t buy much meat or chicken from the supermarkets. I have an awesome butcher just up the road and while, I guess it’s expensive, for the amount that. Buy I find it pretty reasonable and he has some beautiful meat and chicken etc. As I’m on my own whatever I buy does me for more than 1 meal anyway. I figure I may as well eat some good meat at my time of life and enjoy it. All the water 8n that chicken is enough to make me throw up. I don’t know how they get away with selling it like that. It reminds me of chicken that is bad. You can’t trust the weight of the meat in the packages at the supermarket either. It’s just a rip off with all that water or whatever it is in the plastic. If you took it out of the packaging and weighed it at home on your own scales I think there would be such a big difference from 2hat you pay for. No wonder Coles and Woollies make so much money, greedy bastards that’s all they are. TFS. Hope you and Mrs. Mac have had a great week.
@The_Crusty_Old_Hag_Next_Door my neighbour has a few small Coles metal trolleys 🛒 in her yard and they aren't housing commission either no need to mention and in my opinion there's nothing wrong with living in housing commission.... But I guess I get what you mean

I always get my corned beef from Woollies. I have never had a problem with it. I slow cook it for hours. It turns out so good.
I hardly buy beef anymore, to bloody pricey.

5:50 I think it's called natural purge. Usually it's soaked up well by those little absorbant pads you find at the bottom of the meat tray.
im so glad im not the only one that is noticing. aldi man for life yo

The peppercorn lean sausages are decent i rate them good quality slightly priceier but worth it in my opinion

Woolies and Coles. Ouch, they are giving us a double banger. Completely out of control and are a big part of the inflation in Australia.
woolworths were you get more water then meat
I only buy meat 90% off at my local woolworths , I go every day at markdown time
I call it aafeway also x
I always forget it was called Safeway in Victoria I always knew it as Woolworths
Chicken packets look like they were out in warm weather or something the way they were swimming in fluid

Fresh meat. Better than dry old meat. Money isn't everything.
Weigh the mince? Always wrong weight according to package
Bunch of crooks!
The amount of preservatives in those beef and pork ribs its not good at all
All that chicken in that juice is going off that’s what happens its going to be rancid in no time!
Not a huge fan of those plastic trolleys 🛒
My neighbour must love those trolleys there’s one in his front yard! No i don’t live in housing commission!

We don’t buy a lot of meat these days. It’s all over priced and made up from foreign ingredients and a lot of it is important as well.
