About the Pluton, I'd like to share a theory that we talked about with my professor before my BA exam(who translates One Piece in my country btw), Pluton might be a reference to the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, being a weapon of mass destruction and "Pluton" might refer to the chemical element in this case. Especially with the WWII history and the way people looked at the situation. There were a few popular myths that surfaced after the war, saying that only a few high rank military officers were responsible for all the suffering and the war and that this people controlled the emperor. It was partially because of how the emperor announced the defeat. He became a symbol of peace and release from war. So it was very important to keep him in this position, not only for japanese officials but also for MacArthur who was in charge of demilitarising Japan and guiding it to democracy. I'm not caught up with the series yet, I am right before Wano, but after that talk with my profesor and digging into WWII memory in japanese animation for my thesis, I kinda theorise that this void century might turn out to be something similar to what I've seen in a very different story, there is this animated series called Turn A Gundam that also tackles the topic of forgotten history. There is also a blank period of time in history. Sadly can't really describe this without Turn A Gundam spoilers (they will pertein only to Turn A Gundam though, won't say any One Peice spoilers so don't worry ^^) . . . . . . . . . . . So, i Turn A this period is called "dark history", it refers to a years of conflict and wars that destroyed the planet so much that part of the human population emigrated to the moon, but a few government officials and a military officers hidden this from general public, fearing the outrage and believing that if people will learn about all the violence it will repeat again. The violence did repeat itself again because no one remembered the wars and humanity who reinvented it's culture from people who stayed started digging the leftovers from said wars that up untill this point slept deep underground. And it is interesting because the creator was a person who grew up in the after war Japan, inherited the war memories from his loved ones, this storyline really resembles the postwarmyths that I talked about above and since One Piece is heavily political in some aspects I wonder if it would be a little similar case maybe? (If we learned something about it in Wano or next sagas please don't tell me, I promise I'll revisit this comment after catching up one day). Japanese people, when commemorating the war, put a huge emphasis on a a fact that remembering tragedies is a way to not repeat them (Although they ephasise mostly tragedies that happened to them not that they caused, another of the postwar myths says that Japan was the victim not agressor which is not true at all). So my theory for now, maybe the void century is connected to some very big disaster filled with the World Government crimes and tragedy beyond the known scale and the World Government decided to hide it hoping that them as a symbol of peace for normal people won't be held accountable and any memory of what happend might cause a worldwide riots and protests or getting this old weapons used again. So glad your mum is really enjoying the manga and Mom Piece :) I love listening to your conversations while studying - your mum's insights are incredible, and the banter is great :)
I was suddenly reminded of the 1990 film Dances With Wolves starring Kevin Costner. Which is about a US Civil War vet who joins the Lakota Sioux tribe and joins their resistance against the encroaching US Govt. Oda had them LITERALLY "dance with wolves" in an arc that's a metaphor about the struggle of First Nations/Native Americans fighting back for their land.

The fact your mom keeps downplaying Nami's intelligence and intuition as just magical powers is so heartbreaking everytime. LikeNami is for sure just a normal human, like Usopp but for me those 2 traits are what makes her so great for me and ur mom just throws em away everytime. 😭😭
I’ve been watching these videos lately and I love the conversation + drawings convo. I’ve been thinking about the Early East Blue drawing for weeks: the Baratie is my least liked arc about that saga but after watching that image come to life I finished that video with a new perspective on it. Forever thinking about the light on that image. And the shadows on the Jaya video. Like, I am so engrossed watching how the colours change an image. I have no idea of drawing, so it's very cool to see! And something about the talking about art while you see art being created. There are so many levels of intertextuality that makes everything so much enjoyable. But also gives you another level of understanding of what’s being talked about. So many conversations are happening and, of course, the talked conversation is always 1)very interesting and 2)delightful to listen to: I think it’s clear that you (both of you) know and like what you are talking about.
I am having an absolute blast with this mom piece series, thanks to the both of you. Been reading this since it came out, and I am also hoping to one day get my parents into it.😂

So glad this is back on. Missed it so hard last week
Fun fact: I've heard that the Black Hills aren't actually traditional Lakota territory.
Love the mistborn shoutout!
What in the world? 😮mom is going to find the one piece for us. Wow
Ok, the whole "knock up stream were intentional" got me literal chills~~~❤
You mom is magic there's no other way lmao. She can see the future? she's interpreting and being able to see throught things I never did and I started watching this show 20 years ago 😭
She's got advanced Observation Haki
Dude these videos are so fun
didn't know I had neglected to sub til the pineapple head sub goal.
On crew roles: I'd say Mama Drawk is the cook because she is COOKING! ;)
Its crazy how people are still telling people to skip Skypiea. It was already wrong back then, but now its super insanely wrong given all that we have learned the past few years.
I absolutely LOVE hearing the two of you talking about it, i am soooooo excited to tune into more and more cant wait for you guys to get to some of the crazy stuff coming in
I watched the whole series in one go! Y'all earned a sub and wow Mama Drawk is genius level when it comes to breaking down stories. Can't wait for the next one!
Omg ive been waiting for this and it arrives at the perfect time
I know...mompiece is from ohara she knows too much
Must be protected at all cost
I watched on the twitch vod, but had to come back and re-watch the YT vid just for Monkey Lee Doofy!
The fact your mom keeps downplaying Nami's intelligence and intuition as just magical powers is so heartbreaking everytime. LikeNami is for sure just a normal human, like Usopp but for me those 2 traits are what makes her so great for me and ur mom just throws em away everytime. 😭😭
It’s no disrespect to Nami. I still believe she is a Haki user. I just didn’t know what that was.
Oh. I’m week to week now
I’ve been watching these videos lately and I love the conversation + drawings convo.
I literally was about to look this up yesterday and today it comes out LETS GO
Absolutely love mom piece. Highlight of my week for sure.
I can’t believe she predicted ultra instinct luffy lol
I am having an absolute blast with this mom piece series, thanks to the both of you. Been reading this since it came out, and I am also hoping to one day get my parents into it.😂
You should have your mom read Berserk. I know it's way darker but seeing her pick up on small details just makes me curious how she would predict plotlines and some of the symbolism
forget mantra she's got the whole future sight
She's giving Katakuri a run for his Berry.
@@StationSquare.Just Katakuri? She's running Madam Shirley out of business.
13:20 "when no one has died they are saving a death to break you" maan what a freakin prediction that is
I look forward to these uploads so much!
Greatest One Piece channel on Yt
I love that she predicts gumu gumu no airhead
cheeky ahh thumbnail, I love it
the second drawing is so cute XD
im so exited for the cosplay, at first i thought drawk meant mont blanc nolan, but then they said pineapple then i remembered. also i wonder if mama drawk will like them due to reasons
Love this series. Always fun to hear your discussions and see your art.
Another excellent episode. ❤ Love this yt series so much. My favorite one piece commentry of all time. Thank you for bringing Mama Drawk to the world, though I supoose she brought you to the world first. 😂
omg mamadrawk so valid on that plug! why am i not already watching the live streams! omw there guys, love these breakdowns
this mom piece thing has quickly become my favorite thing
52:00 #MomPiece is probably going to end up teaching a college course all about One Piece someday. Those most fortunate of students who nonchalantly just sign up for the class will be in for a treat to be sure! Skypeia part 2 and the next saga is going to drop a fatality of overwhelmedness on MamaDrawk's desk for sure!
moma is scary 😂😂😂 tying knock-up stream with ancient weapons.
We're getting to the moment where she'll actually start spoiling us, whatever she says that makes no sense should be archived for posterity because the probability that it starts making sense in the future is gigantic
“I will sacrifice you all in the name of fun”
So when is mama drawk reading berserk haha
Another banger!!! I look forward to this every week.
People are capable of creating tsunami, maybe a god knight decided to blast jaya up.
i love this series, easily the videos i look forward to the most
Mama Drake, thank you for choosing Wyper as your number 3, he's such an underrated character...
I am so excited for mama drawk to arrive in water 7 ... how much will she be freak out about Robin? 😅
Also, the best face approaches :D the hype cometh
I just saw you do those drawings really fast. Do you have any tips to improve speed? (Other than just drawing more)
Plenty of tips!
- Get comfortable with compromises, and imprecision
- Do timed drawing practice
- Get comfortable in your workflow, but practice being flexible with it instead of rigid- making changes as needed for the sake of a piece
- Try to have familiarity with your tools and how to make them do as much work as possible
@@thedrawkshow thanks so much. I'll try to incorporate this into my drawings to get faster
Already at skypia, proud of you momma drawk ❤️
I can't wait for you to get to peak... The best arc by far and to hear your opinion.... Long ring long land here we come.
i subscribed I love Momma Drawk
