Hey guys! I'm sure this video is a surprise to a lot of you! I'm coming back to UA-cam to make regular content :) Borderlands 3 is the first game I want to cover, but we'll be exploring other games this fall too. If you have any recommendations on how to make the video better, this is the first one so I'd love to hear them! Thanks so much for watching and thank you for your continued support!!! See you on the next one
I thought everybody did all missions in this game no kidding, side missions should never be skipped first playthough, they are so quirky and fun most of the time! and ofc: great rewards!
I think a few people recommend skipping the side missions till you finish the campaign since they scale with level. Then after the campaign you can come back and do them to help grind from 30 ish to 50 and get better loot
I try to do every side mission I can find, and complete all of the challenges and explore every map, except collecting the typhoon chests. I'm about 40 hours in and have only just finished the Maliwan-Atlas story bits.
Actually, the rewards are usually fairly sup-par for the first playthrough given the speed of leveling and the short replacement time. TTK goes down significantly for most weapons as you level beyond them
DO NOT choose which weapon you use by their level; some guns absolutely shred, but have a very low level! Instead, use the Handsome Jack target to the left and below of Marcus’s ship on Sanctuary. This way, you can simulate how a weapon works and feels!
I’ve never rushed through a Borderlands game, constantly exploring checking anything and everything. It’s both essential and fun and very rewarding. Some great tips, especially the fast travel.
I guess from the Fallout series onwards I am a born wanderer I love to explore open maps the same goes. In the Droughts, I was lucky to discover the Typhon logs, three of which are scattered throughout the area. When you get all of them it opens a highly valuable chest which more often than not has two purples and two blues (sometimes it varies). I is definitely worth exploring and doing those side quests.
Thanks for the tip, Diana. I was in Athenas before I realised this. Hopefully your comment will tip someone off earlier than me. Subbed to your channel.
Every single mission. Every crew mission. 100% the region. No other way to go. So nice to always have the good gear that you get, it adds to the narrative of the story immensely, and keeps you a solid level or two above everything but the bosses.
This was my first boarderlands game and I'm only a quarter into the game and I'm enjoying so much that I'm thinking of buying the handsome jack collection.
Wen the 3rd one first dropped I grabbed the first one for $20 (cuz I'm new to the borderlands world) and I really enjoyed it. The 3rd one I bought over the holidays, and I'm liking it as of right now...not loving it. But I'm sure that'll change with more level-ups and time.
If you get the gist of the story (there are vaults, they want to find, bad guys are in the way), don’t bother with the first. It’s basically a beta for 2. If you’re enjoying 3, 2 is a must. The price for the handsome collection is worth it just to get all the dlc for 2. Presequel seems like a huge dlc for 2 rather than its own game. But two is so fun, so charming, so necessary. Gameplay in 3 is better but actual game, world, characters, etc will never be topped from 2. Do it!
Ya I'm taking my time doing everything that pops up before story missions. That's my OCD kicking in hahaha. Anyways I'm having a blast playing. Lvl 10 now and just beat mouthpiece. Happy gaming !
I am a compulsive explorer. I enjoy that aspect as much as the killing/progression aspect. I always explore extensively but I will do side missions just to keep me leveled up enough to handle the playthrough. I like saving the majority of the side missions for second runthrough for the increased LVL of the item rewards. But explore I will.
New to BL and enjoying it solo so far. However it's a heavy game. Alot of variables to consider. This guide is very helpful for me being at the beginning. Thanks!
I played 12 hours of borderlands 3 this weekend and I had no idea about the fast travel, that first tip alone made watching this video worth it! Great video ❤️ thanks for the tips
Great tips! Thanks. Sometimes when there I need to drop an item to pick something else up, it helps to remind myself that while leveling up, it doesn’t take long to find something much better anyways, so rather then sitting there stressing and trying to decide. Just drop something and move on.
Tip 1 use the Cheddar grenade for backpack space upgrades if you can tolerate losing a grenade Tip 2 pay attention to the numbers, I've been running an eridean barrel shotgun for ten levels 17-27+ because it does 500burn per second
4 hours? I have played borderlands 2 for 144 hours so far, maybe even more since i messed up some saves and sometimes had internet problems... and as you know there is no such a mean of fast travel in BL2, you need to move through ALL of the level to get to fast travels.
I'm completely new to the game and franchise, and I find myself doing every single side mission as well. Not only to get more familiar with the game, but because it's just a ton of fun. Really enjoying the loot aspect of the game and all the different weapons. It's kind of overwhelming managing my inventory because of it, haha. Anyways, great video and thanks for the tips.
I have two level 10 characters and I had no idea about the manufacturer mail thing I am so glad I watch this show. Thank you so much I was already subscribed but you have just reminded me how good you are to have around
The mailbox is also where you'll receive Moxxi weapons when you give her enough tips, she no longer hands them directly to you as she did in BL2. And the pre-order/deluxe loot does match your level when you redeem it, so depending on what it is you may want to wait until reaching a higher level before doing that.
Just learning borderlands. Thx! Me and my boy play together. Very overwhelming at 1st. Were going back and forth on just exploring and doing quest we can reach.
I dont do too much sightseeing, but i gather up alot of side missions, and hammer them out all at once, then i continue with my main story :D find alot of fun stuff this way, and i feel like im not rushing, and enjoying my self.
Don't forget to do crew missions (like the first vault Hunter recordings and dead claptraps) as the vault Hunter has a loot box on almost every level with special items in it...
I used to fast travel from anywhere in the previous 3 borderlands games lol... You just quit the game and rejoin, it dumps you right next to the fast travel station at the start of the level. I'm glad the made it official now tho
Yea mee too i stay stuck on side missions and areas just looting and farming weapons its soo fun i havent even started the story too much soon as i open a new area i explore every part of it
I’m a Far Cry player and recently played Crackdown, and my husband recommended this for me and I absolutely LOVE it. I usually take my time and try and hit everything in the game while simultaneously playing a main quest for every 2-3 side missions I do. But the advice about the guns was very helpful since Farcry is limited on weapons compared to this game!
I do everything and really enjoy the game. the side missions give the game so much playability. I forgot how much fun Borderlands can be. Borderlands 3 = Chill Fun - Call of Duty = Anger & Try-Hard Frustration.... Nice vid and looking forward to others.
Playing this for the first time in Oct 2020. Thank you for your help! I don't speed through any game, it takes me several months to finish games because I don't play them all of the time. I usually play at night or in the morning and doing home or car projects during the middle of the day. Love the Backpack info because I pick up everything and search for everything everywhere.
I only did side missions when I was under leveled for the main story.. only happened once and it was when going up against that damn Kaga-ofaibefoin ball off death. Saved most of the story missions to play them in mayhem mode for better rewards :) specially those Typhon log challenges. In mayhem mode all the enemies scale to your level, you have a better drop rate and a better chance at legendary weapons or purple anointed ones from killing regular enemies. I have picked up about 3 purple anointed guns simply doing one of the first side quests in the droughts area. I can't wait for the rest of the side missions, I feel as if this is the actual Borderlands experience, mayhem mode 2 side mission hunting. Best feeling ever.
My biggest issue has been that when i get matched up with someone, i get to the fast travel location but i have to go through hordes of enemies before i can make it to the person i got matched up with and it takes a while for me to actually get to them. I remember Borderlands 2 making it so that you spawn around the people you got matched with. I would have preferred for that to stay the same
Tip #11 - When you first access a new map, even at the very beginning of the game, search out the 3 Typhon logs and the chest afterwards. If you wait, and go through the story like I did, the levels of the loot from the Typhon chest will be stuck to the low level of the enemies on the map. I got to lvl 27 thinking "I will just go back and do all of these extra things towards the end of the game". Bad idea with the Typhon Logs, unless you want Lvl 7 stuff at level 25-35.
Hey man! I’m confused by your statement. Should I grab the Typhon Logs immediately or wait? They don’t scale to level, is that what youre saying? I’m in only the second major area and haven’t grabbed one yet so I just wanted clarification on that. Appreciate it!
@@LordDouglasPipe they do not scale to level. Seriously though, with most of them, it's more trouble than it's worth anyway. Unless you have to have 100% of everything, I would do them only if they are in your path. Some of them are a pain in the ass
Here's what I did upon getting the game. I played through the first three hours with every vault hunter. Basically i got to sanctuary. Level 10. It gave me a good idea of which character i wanted to play first. I went in thinking Zane was gonna be my guy, turns out its Fl4k. Also, when i go back to play the other characters, i dont have to go through that 3 hour tutorial again.
ManiacalMedic i just started a new game with each one. But, using the safe in your room on sanctuary, you can trade items and guns back n forth between all of your characters.
I'm new to borderlands. I just found your channel, thank you. Just subscribed even though they're 4 yrs old they're helping me. Lol!! Very informative.
Hey guys, so I was fortunate enough to catch BL3 in the PS store on sale and with that, I got the magical epic ultimate upgrade package. I am taking my time and loving the story. I'm definitely struggling with understanding weapon specs and how to utilize their features. I can't wait to go full blown crazy in fights once I've got the moves down. Thanks for the Intel!
I'm actually planning on doing most of the side quests later when I unlock mayhem more and/or True vault hunter mode. That way the quest rewards will be more to my level and it may even help me level to level 50 and get gear closer to level 50.
I'm level 31 on my main currently and have slowed on doing the side missions. I've gotten to the point I really just want to hit 50 so all of my loot is more meaningful long-term. A level 30 legendary is just depressing to me as I know I'll be replacing it in just a couple hours at best. However, I still have a compulsion to expose the entire map and I definitely clear out every green diamond objective. But missions marked as "Trivial" reward such little XP, they're just not worth the time doing on the first playthrough. At 50, though, I'll be enjoying every inch of content and perhaps even more so, since I'll have a lot of fresh content I didn't experience on the first round.
Most of my friends sped through the game. I did every side mission which was fun. But as far as loot and time management goes speed Run the game and then activate meyhem 1 to get better exp and loot/money faster
From my experience, the main quest seems to adapt to your level+1, I'm doing every side quest and am a higher level than a friend that doesn't, our main quests aren't for the same level...
One of the best Tips vids I've come across. Excellent work, clear, good info, good suggestions. I did BL1 and BL2. I've always done all the side missions possible before moving onto the main story. I'm in no rush to finish, just enjoying the game. At my lowly level 15, I'm not seeing many legendaries though. I haven't done any farming yet, maybe on the next planet.
Pleasure seeing some new content on UA-cam from you, JV! When I grab BL3 I'll definitely be methodical and get every side quest. The completionist in me couldn't have it any other way!
The thing I'd want if I could get one addition is a button for selling all "non favourites"... such a hassle trashmarking everything or selling stuff one by one 🤔 or perhaps a better inventory that's abit more "sortable". Taking my sweet sweet time. Exploring, reading, testing EVERYTHING! 👍
Taking my time, getting all crew challenges in each area done as I go, and making Iron Bear a bad@$$. Learning to navigate the challenges screen was a pain, but once you get the hang of it, you can level pretty fast and spend a lot less time running back and forth, plus get some pretty nice weapons and shields.
I'm late to find this video but still learned about punching barrels, I was afraid to melee them in case they just exploded so this bit of info will be useful.
I feel like I am flying through it on normal. I want to finish the story to unlock the locked screen but even when I try to force myself to skip the side quests, it doesn't last long before I finish them before I leave the planets. I will skip some of the radio community quests I think its called, if I can't figure out how to climb up. But I am on chapter 11 and only skipped one that I can remember.
I always do all missions, when I enters a map an clears the "fog of war* (I think that's the name of the mechanism that's hiding a part of the the map you don't have explore) I pick up all side missions and do them beside of the mainquest. It's very helpful bc you get a lot of xp and level up really quick. That helps you against bosses and rare mobs. And the rewards are most of the time really good. Did this in BL1 and BL2 also. By the way, I clear all quests, even in TVHM. It is a heck of fun to do it. I really love the story, and also the little story that's coming with the sidemissions. Thumb up for this vid! Have fun an and always good loot. C ya in the Borderlands.
Awesome video! I just got BL3 and these tips will be very helpful. The last tip really helps because I always stressful trying find which gun is better. I know that the guns had scores, but I didn’t want to assume that higher meant better. Normally I did damage x fire rate for dps, then compare the other stats and perks.
I am doing my second slide through a quarter of a man's 2 and then even though I did get borderlands 3 when the game was launch. I'm gonna go back and complete all thecide missions. Cause I don't think I did it on the first time. Good information in the video of my friend. Very good.❤
I just picked up the game on the PS store sale today. Coming back to this franchise after many years now. Played only the first Borderlands game. Looking forward to it.
I’m taking my time through the game and am running 2 characters Flakk and Zane to get a feel for them. I never rush my first play through in Borderlands
Bought the game day 1. Just now playing it. Level 10, and what a blast! Now I know what I've been missing. I barely played Borderlands 2 and liked it too. Just have to make time to play. Thanks 4 the tips. Esp the part about what to attack shields/armor/skin with weapon types. ** Going real slow, took me a week to get to lvl 10 and finish 1st part of game. I like it slowwww**, and I loot everything cept white/gray items. That's gonna change.
Speed through to get guardian and mayhem mode unlocked. Do a couple convenient side missions along the way and it's more than enough to finish the story at level 40. All side missions scale to your level after completing and makes it more enjoyable to hit 50 rather than the grind of games past.
Two thoughts. First, I am really bad about not reading the tutorial, so I missed the fast travel info. Second, item value is a cool addition. However, sometimes a weapon that is slightly better conflicts with my play style or its design affects ADS to a degree that I might prefer the lesser valued weapon.
I am just CRAWLING through my first time with Fl4k. I'm having so much fun finding all of this stuff out myself, discovering every last bit of each map, and every hidden chest. It's been so fun, but I'm still at the very early stages of the game.

He's right I'm level 45 and I got a level 22 smg 46 x 3 damage, 100% bonus and it's a 66 clip shreds level 45s
until you get to lvl 72 at least
Lots of good tips, but the vehicle-as-fast-travel-point is a game changer, man. Massive big ups and shouts out for that one! Subbed.

For sure :)

I did not know u can fast travel to vehicles game never told me that.

Thank you for the tips. This is my first BL game and I was so lost.
Most of my friends sped through the game. I did every side mission which was fun.
But as far as loot and time management goes speed Run the game and then activate meyhem 1 to get better exp and loot/money faster
Taking my time and exploring every nook and cranny
From my experience, the main quest seems to adapt to your level+1,
I'm doing every side quest and am a higher level than a friend that doesn't, our main quests aren't for the same level...
Well more exp for you man
I will not agree that "item lvl" usually shows better weapons. On the contrary. Most often it misleads the player.
True. The better item is the one that fits your play style.
legendary lower level weapons can be effective for quite some time and even be better then epic higher levels
Victor Bax yup.. I’ve dragged my level 41 lob through all of my lvl 57 tvhm & mayhem 4 stuff
Great to hear you again matey 👍🏻👍🏻
One of the best Tips vids I've come across. Excellent work, clear, good info, good suggestions.
I did BL1 and BL2. I've always done all the side missions possible before moving onto the main story. I'm in no rush to finish, just enjoying the game. At my lowly level 15, I'm not seeing many legendaries though. I haven't done any farming yet, maybe on the next planet.
That vehicle teleporter is a game changer you beautiful bastard massive props
Pleasure seeing some new content on UA-cam from you, JV! When I grab BL3 I'll definitely be methodical and get every side quest. The completionist in me couldn't have it any other way!
Thanku for your articulate style !!! great info,no unneeded fluff...cooleness !!!
This is a big hell and I'm new to borderlands franchise but with these tips I should be able to progress faster
I'm late to find this video but still learned about punching barrels, I was afraid to melee them in case they just exploded so this bit of info will be useful.
I've been seeing the you have mail thing in game! Never found it or thought of it being there. Thanks! Answered a lot of dumb questions I've had.
VIP items can be collected at Lv50 and they match your level.
When he punched a barrel and it didn’t explode
:D.... :O
I have done every side mission and all DLC's for Borderlands 1, 2 and TPS and plan on doing the same for Borderlands 3.
Nice video. Good info.
Thanks 👍😎
Very good.❤
First time I'm playing BL3, your video was very helpful thanks
I'm late on getting this game but I'm doing everything. All the side quests that are available at that time. Use to doing it back in bl2
Welcome back its good to see you're videos again.
Good to have you back =)
I’m trying to work through and enjoy the first run through
I was stuck on one stupid boss. Now I know why. Thanks
I just picked up the game on the PS store sale today. Coming back to this franchise after many years now. Played only the first Borderlands game. Looking forward to it.
I’m taking my time through the game and am running 2 characters Flakk and Zane to get a feel for them. I never rush my first play through in Borderlands
Great tips! You should make more BL3 vids
All side missions scale to your level after completing and makes it more enjoyable to hit 50 rather than the grind of games past.
hey - I don't comment on vids often but my goodness.... this is one of the best channels I've ever visited. :) Well done here and subbed!
Bot
Guaranteed fucking dude
Two thoughts. First, I am really bad about not reading the tutorial, so I missed the fast travel info. Second, item value is a cool addition. However, sometimes a weapon that is slightly better conflicts with my play style or its design affects ADS to a degree that I might prefer the lesser valued weapon.
Omg, I have played to lvl 20 without knowing you can fast travel from anywhere! X’D And to your vehicle no less..
Subscribed after the vehicle fast track info. Terrific to know. Very helpful video. Thanks.
Him saying use these elements I'm over here with a different type of jackobs in all 4 slots
You do you. Do what is most fun for you! :)
For me I just like lighting everyone on fire lol. Better yet multielement
I am just CRAWLING through my first time with Fl4k. I'm having so much fun finding all of this stuff out myself, discovering every last bit of each map, and every hidden chest. It's been so fun, but I'm still at the very early stages of the game.
Thank you friend you help me a lot!!!
Just bought the game yesterday and your video helped me out very much ! Awesome video, thanks !
Super useful guide ! Answered most of my questions in the game and made me discover new stuff
Here's a tip if you get stuck on a boss use a second controller and go into split screen mode
oooo that is a spicy one
Im definitely going stretching out the experience and doing side quests
I planed on doing a quick run for my first play through.......
My plan fell by the wayside quickly.
