I’m here in 2023 and still missing Neal Peart 😢 . Best drummer of all times in my book.
Don’t worry we still have Danny Carey.
@@Wokko1963those were the words I was to use
To whomever is here in 2020, you have a great taste of music
Had to watch today on Neil's birthday. Still can't believe he's gone.😢
Ken Molitor me neither. I actually didn’t start listening to rush until a few months ago and I had no idea he passed. I am also a drummer and I thought he was so good so I told my dad and he broke the news to me
Love ❤️
I read Neil's Ghost Rider after he passed and I totally identified with so many of his feelings...not the gut-wrenching grief and despair he experienced but a lot of what he expressed during his journey. In turn, I've listened to a lot of their music, watched interviews and videos and have become a big fan. I always appreciated their great musicianship but never listened much...that has changed! 😁🤘🏽
I regret never getting my ass to one of their concerts. I've seen Triumph, April Wine, The Payolas, and a hungry young Bryan Adams at Lansdowne Park warming up for Loverboy. What is with the laundromat though? I have so many questions. Whose laundry is it, are they real machines if the interior lights up while the clothes are going around. Are those bottles of detergent on top of the machines, and who is that guy in the black t-shirt, calmly folding shirts in the middle of YYZ? Someone has an exquisite sense of humour.
So beautiful. My husband passed this year and neil was his idol.
I'm freaking crying right now. stupid cancer. stupid disease taking away all the talented people we have here. "Exit Stage left" is playing on my tv set, a cold beer on my hand and a pair of drumsticks in the other one. We remember you, Neil. Long Live Rush.
I know it’s been a year since this comment, but he never died contrary to common belief. He simply transitioned to a realm where his drumming was no longer limited by only having two arms and legs
Neil Piert passed away, but he will never leave us. He is immortal. A Rock God. Unmatched. Into infinity.
🥁R.I.P. to the man the myth the legend … you will forever be missed Neil.. my idol…
Love you forever Professor
He was a gift to the world. A truly legend. And we are lucky to had him.
the trees are crying today...RIP Professor!
manobeats indeed 😢
He's having a drum contest with John Bonham , I bet it sounds incredible.
@@HiFiman4u Now that would be something to hear. And see.
I'm thankful that music truly lasts forever. #Paradiddle #RockInPeace
R.I.P Professor
Over forty years and still put on a incredible show. Not ruined by drug use, not asshats with egos the size of Texas. A lost art.
You're gorgeous
Music in its purest form. Who needs boneheaded decadence when genius requires focus...
I've spent my life , on the "RushExpress" It has been my aging wiser, loving of the Men, the Magical Landscape they Unfurled before my ears, eyes, and body
True Statesmen of all the Musical "Hemispheres" @56 yrs of age I say two wordsTHANK-YOU.
It's because they're canadians
@Shallex Lol i know right
True gods among men. I’m 50 and have been listening to Rush since early childhood. True masters of music. No horseshite. No drama. No f*ckface behavior. Just a pure gift to all of us mere mortals. Thank you, Men. Bless your amazing spirit, Mr. Peart.
You know you are at the pinnacle of your career when you bring a laundromat on tour with you.
No time to wash clothes...do it at work 2 birds one stone
3 of the greatest musicians of the 20th century, no debate...
Soooooooo true! 😎

sounds just LIKE me when Im on guitar hero!
The best Rush song!
@@Fury5.010r Will be missed.. So glad I got to see them live on the Moving Pictures tour
It sure is.....................
No other band can play such awesome tunes and get their wash done at the same time. RUSH forever.
Though many great artists have exited stage left recently, none have left such an empty stage, for me, as the passing of this remarkable bringer of Love and Wisdom. Hearing 2112 and Hemispheres forever changed my life for the better. Today, the trouble and unrest in the forest are gone, and there is only sorrow within the trees. We walked many a road together, and your love has shone clear! Today, great Cygnus, I trust that you are truly conversing amongst the wise.
Thank you and remarkable words as we age loving Rush. I only hope on 6-1-20 folks listen to TREES. ML
@@laural6949 there is trouble in the forest these days
This music is made by 3 humans. Blows me away every time. Neil's kit shot from above...love.
Much respect for Neil's lyricism too!
They had help.
@@Moose803 Aliens? ;-)

Thee Canadian Power Trio
I'm a Pilipino and discovered Rush only in 1981 when my father brought a cassete tape from Saudi Arabia and since then become a fan of this great band....love them since !
Hell yeah! You have excellent taste in music :)
Welcome
I got onboard just before the release of ESL, making Signals the first album of “my” era. I might even be willing to say that Signals is my favorite album!
There has never been, nor will there ever be another Neil Peart.
It's freaking unbelievable what "only" 3 musicians are able to do. Thanks for everything, Neil Peart, our Professor!
They are quite simply a 3 piece symphony orchestra
His kit looks like a damn NASA control console.
RIP Neil Peart The greatest drummer to ever walk Gods green earth.
his first drum teacher in st catharines passed away recently also Don George
I love RUSH at 57 years old as much as I did when I was 16. 4 decades of riding the thailand express.
Damn this hurts. All of my life's memorable moments both good and bad were with these guys. How many times I drifted off in galactic places far away from here thanks to Neil. Farewell Ghost Rider
Nice.
A belated, Very Happy 68th Gary Lee Weinrib. July 29 1953 North York, Willowdale, Toronto. Your bass playing is legendary. And so is Rush. Many, Many more Dirk..
The one thing i always loved bout Rush is that they wear no flashy costumes no fancy make-up no david Copperfield moments its just plain instrument mastery. Gotta love this band.❤
The tree has lost so many leaves... RIP, Professor Peart.
Simply incredible....as a drummer, going from playing the kick, snare, hi-hat then suddenly going to the right to play the cowbells with precision, you just don't know how difficult that is. That's one of the many reasons Neil's the Maestro.
he had been doing that for years, specifically since ESL era...
“EL” Maestro
actually he was lovingly nicknamed " THE PROFESSOR "
due to the many many ways he played how many beats can one man hold at the same time?
listen to tom sawyer listen to xanadu & you shall hear greatness
not only was he great with sticks & lyrics
anyone know he also wrote a few books w/ a wee bit o help?
That’s why geddy was the magician and Neil was the professor and Alex was the WIZARD 🧙♀️
These 3 guys together were the definition of pure musical talent. Neil Peart was the heart of that trio that stopped beating and now gone forever. But not forever in our hearts and mind. His legacy will live forever. RIP Professor
Neil era o único músico de verdade nessa banda. Ele merecia uma banda melhor.
Alex lifeson is so underrated no love from the idiots that judge music. He is in my top 5
You have to be the absolute dumbest lowlife to call Alex anything other than great. Definitely underrated by music listeners, but to the professional critics, he’s in the top 100.
As a rock trio, this band is in my top 1.
FUCK YES!!!!!!!!
He makes playing ALONG WITH the other members of the band look easy and that is one part of his awesomeness. They are tight, and again it is an honour, blessing, just ‘good feeling’ having lived our lives in the same time period as these Masters, like the Mozarts & Bach’s future generations, decades away, will look back in awe.
Has Alex killed anyone with with his left pinky that we know of? I believe that pinky could beat many men in an arm wrestling contest.
I feel like part of me died on January 7th. Rush and Neil a significant soundtrack for many generations.
“The proper function of a man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.” -Neil Peart
RIP Neil, thank you for the music! Will always be a Rush fan.
There's a lot o trios out there, but Rush and Cream are some of the best.
RIP Neil Peart and Jack Bruce.
Last year i said Neil Peart would have a long conversation with John Bonham (if he was alive) and then both would play drums together, now they're doing that somewhere in the afterlife.
TRIUMPH!!!! The most underrated band in the world.
I was there that night, sat towards the side of the bleacher-like seats that had been added at the back of the floor space. The sound in that part of the hall was really distorted, probably the loudest concert I've been to. Had seen the cameras but was still amazed when it came out on DVD, a lasting memory of having been in the presence of greatness for those few hours. R.I.P. Neil Peart.
I started playing when I was 4 adulthood happened and I put the sticks away , one day I sat down to watch mindless tv and somehow the professor's instructional dvd was in the xbox I bought a kit the next day..
Thanks to Mr.peart I remembered the enjoyment drumming can bring.
*Clicked on this randomly and was spellbound. Amazing stuff!*
welcome to the rush rabbit hole. you'll never leave! hahaha
More people own a set of Neil Peart air drums than any other brand. He is with his wife and child now.
Nah, he is just dead.

One of the few bands who can pull it off live, even sounding better than the studio versions :-) RUSH ON!!!!!!! ROCK ON!!!!!!!!
MrMegaFredZeppelin ya they do all their songs live thats the tell between rockers & rock gods my fine mega friend 👍
There have been quite a few over the years. They just do not come very often. Times changed and today technology gives you quite some options to make it a big show. Some people get lost in this all technology. Rush can play that is true.Jethro T. LZ, Queen from old days, stones that role do a great show too but even with their great skill and deep vaults of music it is somehow less entertaining. Surely there are modern bands doing the same. Only I do not know them :)
0:39 - sounds pretty messy to me compared to studio version, at least Lifeson's part.
So true
Saw them in the 80s and again about 10 years ago - our kids’ first concert. All you can think of the whole time is...how can three people put out that much sound? Agree with the comments that they continued getting better with age. Hats off to the greatest 3-man band I’ve ever heard!
This band is the juxtaposition of excellence , professionalism , and artistry.
40 yr drummer here. RIP Neil, you are still one of my favorite inspirations. Cant tell you the number of hours I've spent playing along with you and the band. Too many to count. Heartbroken right now. Tears in my eyes and flashbacks of years gone by pouring thru my soul.
What a class act you were; and what a massive loss to the world of music you will be.
Salute good sir.
YYZ - best of the best. Alex Lifeson proved to be one of the best rock guitarists in the world
In tears tonight.... blessings to family, friends and fans 😢
🤘 Toronto Gal 🤘
Today, one week later, I am still saddened for his family. I'm wearing my R40 T-Shirt.
He was so brilliant, and humble, and so damn disciplined.
We should all take a page out Neil's book of life, from this point forward.
Never thought I'd live to see this day. R.I.P. sometimes life sucks.
Here I thought he was gonna come out of retirement..
THIS
NEVER
GETS
OLD!
For three souls of such beauty and humor and grace to come together and create works of such sheer joy forever inspires me. Makes me feel there might be hope for us all.
A mixture of tone and effect on this song by Alex lifeson is just spectacular on guitar. The parts and solos hit your soul in a touching way. That clear sound is just absolutely wonderful
RIP to my all time favorite drummer😥
They all seem to have no ego`s. They dress and act like the guys you see selling musical equipment in music stores.
Disbanded??? Omg
That's because they got that out of there system in there early years. There was a time they wore some weird stuff on stage. There was even other bands who kind of picked on them about it.
t guitar center emplyees are some of the most arrogant people ive ever met :p
Canadians.
When they toured with Kiss, Gene Simmons used to poke fun at them, when the show was over, they would be in their dressing rooms reading books, who does that !
I've been to a few shows in my time! These three don't need special effects! They are just that Dam talented and will be missed!
R.I.P. NEIL such a tremendous loss felt .Omg I'm gutted on this
Such a unique band. Geddy’s voice, bass and keyboards, Neil’s drums and lyrics, and Alex’s guitar playing has had me mesmerized since I first heard Moving Pictures. RIP NP
I am old enough to have seen from start to finish. The evolution of their music far outpaced ALL the 3 man competition. The finest musicians together I will ever have seen. RIP Mr. Peart and family, your music is the sound of heaven here now you have left for us , until we can hear you once again when it’s my turn.
Me too. Love them more now than then.
However much it hurt me to hear Geddy's voice fade later on, they will always have a kitchen pass. I still wear a 2112 shirt regularly. Have you watched , Dinner with RUSH, here on YT? It's the best.. peace..
will there ever be another band like Rush ?
no
lucky to live in the same century
diego zenti I don't think so! Best band ever
I agree, no one will be like them...
Never
probably never 3 better musicians together in 1 band!!!
Alex Lifeson is one of most underrated guitarists of all time
RIP to The Professor. I highly recommend his books if you haven't read any of them-- Specifically "Lone Rider"
I have heard Tom Sawyer from Moving Pictures in 1981 and from then RUSH have been my absolute favourite Band ever. I am from Germany, and they weren´t very often here. But I had the honor to see them three times. At last at the Snakes & Arrows Tour in Oberhausen.
As I readed that Neil Peart has died it was a shock to me. The world best drummer ever and his lyrics are even some of the greatest. The world has lost an genious Man. RIP
RIP Neil. I am in tears
Thank you Mr. Peart. You amazed us for decades. Rest in peace.
3 cats that crushed it every time.. 2112 , exit stage left , Rush... God bless brothers
the fact is a single tree can stand out in the forest just like neil did music nectar of the gods
no one that i am familiar with has written such "intelligent" lyrics in quite the way Neil does ... and though the context of their use in a band like RUSH sometimes seems out of place ... it actually invites one to listen with new ears and mind to what "progressive rock" can really be. that the sounds can convey poetry on the level that Neil's lyric lives. brilliant. RUSH is truly extraordinary.
Top understand the lyrics of songs like, The Weapon, Signals and Grace Under Pressure, turbulent times that the world has seen. Visionary of Drums and Lyrics, The Professor...
Rush was always "out of place" Loved by the fans hated by the masses, sad but true. We got the joy of having them here with us and that can not be taken away.
RIP Mr Peart. You will be missed. Thank you for the music!
OMG, I didn't realize Geddy Lee was this multi-talented - playing a beautiful Base + Organ/Synthesizer ..... And, Neil AND Alex (@ a loss for words except, splendid)! I've said it a thousand times: 3 awesome dudes, sounding like a 30-piece Rock Orchestra!!!!!
That is the hallmark of great song ARRANGERS. They always sound so FULL!
After being a notorious hard rocker since the 70's I recently discovered RUSH.
What amazing musicians, and the joy they show in being on stage is unbeatable,
Wait What? You were a hard rocker since the 70's and only recently discovered RUSH? What am I missing?
Got to be the best drummer that ever sat behind a set of drum's
Rest in Peace Neil. :'(
I have been listening to Rush since 1976, via my 8 tracks in my 68 Plymouth, All The World's a Stage is my absolute favorite. Thank you for sharing this tour, only saw them twice and sad that I never met my favorite drummer of all time, the professor. Even though I worked in the music industry.. God bless his spirit, his lyrics and his legacy.. thank you for your life Neil. God bless you 🙏
Rest easy, Neil. Thanks for the music 😢
Not an avid Rush listener, but always loved YYZ. How does one even come up with such brilliance?
Rip Neil
Ps: lmao at the guy doing laundry.
And cooking rotisseres !!!
I last listened to YYZ I believe in the mid 80's. Never was a fan but they made great music. Didn't know Pert has died. RIP Neil.
@@ZK-hh2or YYZ is the three letter identifier for Toronto Airport. The drums/guitars play out the morse code that comes across the radio when the Toronto Airport code is tuned. A tune Rush was well accustomed to hearing - coming home from the road.
@@sadsack1956 It's based on Morse code, but it isn't Morse code. Actual Morse code would be a different rhythm (pauses between letters, etc.). It needed some altering to be more musical.
RIP NEIL WE LOVE YOU
You’re now the best air drummer of the heavens...
Polished and perfect. Their staying power is incredible. I love the nonchalance of the guy emptying the dryers, it adds to the grounding of a trio who connect with so many of us. Life tumbles on and though Neil Peart is no longer with us, these nuggets of live Rush sustain and maintain.
Toronto boys forever. We love you guys. Best of the best musicians in one tiny three man band, or as I call them, The Original Three Man Quartet.
This is true immortality, my friends.
7:54 My favourite part when Alex cuts loose. Sends a shiver down my spine every time.
I totally understand all the hype about Neil and yes he was truly a master behind the kit.
But I can't think of any other band were each member is truly a master of there instrument.
I love listening to Alex's guitar playing. So smooth and easy going one sec and the next so hard and rocking. Geddy let's just say anyone who sings lead vocals while ripping on the bass or melodic on the keyboards while playing bass pedals all the while belting out Neil's lyrics. Man!
3 guys, for over 3 decades, making awesome music, respect!
one of the few songs from any band that gives me goose bumps..... if it's too loud... you're too old
Rest In Peace Professor Peart. You were absolutely AMAZING. We will all miss you sir.
I'm here July 30, 2021,Rest in Peace Neil Peart
They did it the old fashioned way. Built it from the ground up, Touring 250 + dates a year, no MTV to make them stars before really earning it, honing their skills on the fly, and actually got better by working for it with humility and grace. A TRUE blue collar band that earned every bit of their successes. There will never be another like them EVER!
RIP Neil. One of the best rock songs. Ever.
It just doesn't get any BETTER than THIS My Friends!!! ;)
menom7. It sure as hell does not, friend👍
My son and I saw the R 40 Movie wed night it was awesome good crowd.
Actually it does get better than this... Wait till you wake up and realize you live on a flat plane as the devil is hiding our creator 🙏
Neil Peart and John Bonham both gone to the hearafter. Could be one heck of drum session in the afterlife with two of the best drummers of all time. Wish both were still here and playing for us fans....

My eyes!! It's perfection and criativity in the music's soul. Wonderful band from Canada. Making the happiness grows up all long time.
RIP Neil. A true one-off. The greatest rock drummer in history, and the greatest voice for libertarian rock fans...And a gentleman
The whole band is very sharp here, Alex Lifeson is just on fire, just so strong on guitar!
Awsome! Unrivaled on earth. Rush has always been the best live show.

The greatest. He demonstrated his mastery over many more years!
I cried watching this. Saw Rush in 1975 and a dozen times after. I don't even have words. Other than we shall never see their kind again I'm happy I saw them as many times as I did.
So sad, RIP Neil. Thankyou from Bobcaygeon Ontario. Farewell to a King.
Sad day. R.I.P. Neil Peart. You are a Legend.
I never tire of hearing The Trees. Only Rush can pull off such a mad song with those time signatures and solo. Strangely funky, strangely genius. That's Rush!
1978, on the bus to a wrestling match, someone played their new favorite track " the Trees" I've been hooked ever since. Still love this band and track.
I watched the video when they first started, playing at some grade school or such. Little did they know then that they wouldn’t stop for 40 some years or more. “Please welcome home....RUSH!”
Memory eternal, Neal. Such an amazing drummer.

Saw them 3 times back in the late 70s and early 80s. There isn't a band that can produce the quality of musicianship these 3 do. Studio is one thing but they are better live!
Wish there was more live videos of those days! Such talent!
Absolutley.
Only regret in my life is, not taking the time out of my life to go see Rush. So mad at myself for this
I saw them 3 times... still not enough.
Twice. They were a great show. Sounded as good live as on a record.

2023 - 01-25. I heard this song when it first came out and now again. IT NEVER GETS OLD!
YYZ is just so flipping incredible. How does one come up with this this stuff. Its bogglingly
There is unrest in the Forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the Maples want more sunlight
And the Oaks ignore their pleas.
The trouble with the Maples
(And they’re quite convinced they’re right)
They say the Oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the Oaks can’t help their feelings
If they like the way they’re made
And they wonder why the Maples
Can’t be happy in their shade?
There is trouble in the Forest
And the creatures all have fled
As the Maples scream ‘Oppression!’
And the Oaks, just shake their heads
So the Maples formed a Union
And demanded equal rights
‘The Oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light’
Now there’s no more Oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet,
Axe,
And saw…
When I first heard this I thought the oaks and maples were actually human beings.
mike mougakos Yeah! You’d think that Neil was drawing a correlation! Using trees to criticize extreme liberals! I’m a decent guitarist, but I don’t expect the wealth and fame of Alex Lifeson because I’m a maple guitarist and he’s an oak guitarist.
What a treat to have seem them 10 times, will never be a band comparitable to what these three talented musicians brought to the table. RUSH fan since Caress of Steel.
Same here. Bought COS & FBN together in 1975 & NEVER LOOKED BACK!! Still listen to them everyday and no one will EVER take their place.
Dirk, Lerxst & Pratt......my heroes!!
Quite jealous of you I am. Only saw them once, Hammersmith Odeon in London. Blew me away.
John Johnson not to out do you....seen them 26 times. Best band ever!
