I dig this rig. Been looking at it for quite a while. I wish I could afford it. I love the paint job you did. Thank you Greg, you always have great videos and content.
Glad to see you got your hands on one. Greg I have to say the paint work you did was the perfect choice. I’ve had mine when they first came out and still haven’t even drove it yet, took me months to figure out the paint job and she’s a beaut in my eyes. Can’t wait to taker for a spin. Seeing this makes me want to get out there right now. Still in the mix of a house remodel which supersedes my hobby right now. Soon....real soon
Awesome looking rig. Im building a Vanquish Ultra with Hilux body. Pinched front & rear. Gonna put the vfd dig unit on it. Im gonna do my best to make it look scale as possible. I would use reefs 99 micros for the shifting servos. They are plenty strong enough and less weight. They also make metal servo horns to fit the 99 micro. Im also using dravtec shocks instead of the incision shocks
I absolutely love mine as well. It was a blast to build, took me around 15 hours total. As you mention, the instructions are very good and components are well designed. I bought it on the free wheels deal and run it on those wrapped with Proline BFG Krawlers in G8 compound. Performance has been absolutely amazing.
I love my Phoenix. Love building it up too. Wish there were more kit out there or just at least a kit version of every RTR. Perfect price point. Was hard to decide with the color. You choice looks amazing. Back when is was sold out. I found 1 left. Made a road trip out of it and 18 hours round trip from San Diego to Amain in Chico Ca. It was crazy but I got my hands on one and it was definitely worth it.
Glad to see you picked up the Phoenix! I have to agree, I love my PRO, but the Phoenix has been great and for the money it is hard to beat! Great location you have there to do the testing! Great color too! That is a color that I don't see often, but may have to try that color out on one of my next bodies!
You did another excellent and through review. I knew nothing about the Vanquish line except the prices. It appears to be a more than capable crawler. Thanks for sharing.
Been looking to pick this up. Looking at yours. Might need to get it. Love the paint. Plus Club 5 Racing just came out with some cool Ann on’s for the body.
That Rig Rocks! Perkins Cove is a heck of a place to put that Vanquish through it's paces!! I would love to see a step by step build video on this and many of your builds. Thanks.
Yup, Perkins Cove is an awesome spot. Great rocks to crawl in the morning. Lobsters at Barnacle Billy’s in the evening! I’d like to do more build videos. It’s just the editing time kills me.
According to die hard VP fanboys that clicking noise you can hear from the trans in 14:27 does not exists.. You must have "build it wrong" according to them... All 3 of my phoenix got it, but not theirs.
Wow! That's the best looking Phoenix I've seen great job! I've limited myself to 2 new (land) rigs per year....... last year was ryft, wedigo, smt10, 1/5th Notorious... I ordered the ecto. Think this will be by next order... for next year... aka Christmas.
Looks hella cool. Having multiple trx4s not sure what vanquish hype is all about. Still torn on getting one for some reason. Might just be the addiction lol
I had a lot of trouble setting up the shifting servos. I had some cheap Amazon low profile servos. They both burned out in about 30 seconds. Why? Because they were stalled before I could set up the end point adjustment for shifting. I put in two Futaba servos, they were not low profile. I was able to set them up before they burned out. I guess that Futaba makes good servos, which is no surprise. Thoughts?
Glad you finally got it built slacker...🤣 I think the body is an amazing upgrade over the pro as far as performance, approach and departure angles are improved. I grab my Phoenix all the time, looks great, performance is great, awesome value for money kit. Cheers mate 👍
Couple other things about this truck. First, the upper shock collars are made of plastic and are very hard to screw on correctly. However, Vanquish makes metal ones and in different colors . Highly recommend getting. Also the shock caps are plastic. They are okay. But guess what? Vanquish now makes metal shock caps. I got both of these upgrades and they are great. Thoughts?
Surely such minor parts they could be standard .. but when you can sell em at probably 10x cost as an upgrade mb not . This company been taking lessons from Tamiya??
the changes I did for the phoenix portal is that i put vfd mashed gear set in the transmission also got the light Wate motor plate and the upgraded shock parts like the caps pistons shafts and collets that's what I done so far have not ran it yet but i can't Wate to get it going on the rocks
Great Video and Super Looking Phoenix Paint One of the Best I've seen Greg, The Tekin Electronics and Servo's seem to do really well, but I didn't catch which Radio system you're using for all the functionality of all the available Servo's and Winches if added... I've been looking hard for my first kit build and all that this offer's for the price point seems within budget... Those link ends kinda made me frown but surely there are better one's available for when building time comes, which would you choose? Enough Chattering Greg My Friend ✌🤠👍 HFLPRCing =Having Fun Laughing Playing and RCing 👍😎👍 AOAH =Association of Addicted Hobbiest 🙏 SSPH =Stay Safe and Play Healthy My Friend 💯❣️
It's on my Christmas list ... lol I really think the paint job is awesome . ONLY 1 QUESTION where did you get the rear window decal of the stick man with the RC so Cool 😎 GREAT VIDEO Rc crazy 🤪
You can just run this on a simple 2-channel setup if you really want to get into it. There’s set screws in the transmission to lock the levers in place so you can build it without the extra servos. Grab a Holmes 550 can motor and BRXL esc. Basic radio, but I would suggest spending the cash for a good steering servo.
Just use what I call the "budget rtr upgrade" pack. A HW1080, Holmes sealed can motor, 35kg budget Amazon servo. Each is only 20-25$. Throw in the cheap flysky radio and your set. Then when you can spend "$200" on a single electronic, upgrade. 👍 My wife has had that basic electronics setup in her scx10 for 4+ years now without a problem.
I’ve been back & forth with this RC there’s a lot of people that got it & it wasn’t that impressive as a Crawler. It’s definitely not specific as a climbing rig. I love the look of it. It’s very classy. Buy the time you buy good electronics etc. it could be expensive but then again. 20$ Holmes motor & Hobbywing esc around 45/50$ & it still perform well. I think it’s a good trail truck that can be if you really wanted be set up to be a great crawler. Now that it’s on sale that may just be the deal maker! I’d probably widen it a bit & try & get it a bit lower.
I’m one of those people who wasn’t thrilled with it, I recently swapped out the (over complicated transmission) for a stealthx element trans, and am much happier with it, outside of the transmission i like the truck, axles are great, body and hinge system are excellent, tires are meh
Truck looks really good.. These are awesome trucks with a few modifications.. I look forward to building mine here soon. I would also like to take a minute as a representative you know of pine state RC, and maine state RC And say a big thank you to give in some exposure to the state of Maine. Tiny trucks are in large majority of the hobby up here. Would love to see a large event like Axial fest up here as we have the diversity of Terrain From our coastlines to our mountainsFrom our coastlines to our mountains And everything in between. Keep up the good work
My family and I absolutely love Maine. We were there often when we had family in the state. The coastline is incredible, it certainly deserves a big event. Drivers would be blown away with the terrain Maine has to offer.
@@rcdriver there's more to Maine than just the RC it's a good family vacation as well. Tourism is a big industry up here so infrastructure is here to hold a huge event. I myself have been working very hard to bring attention to Maine to hopefully get a huge event appear would you vent up here. I myself have been working very hard to bring attention to Maine to hopefully get a huge event up here. Not much big RC events happened in New England. And it's A shame that's not so. In the 2 years since I've started Pine state RC and maine state RC We have gone from one indoor track track to 8 tracks and Is rock crawling courses. I think Maine would be an ideal place for a huge event. And I think the hobby world as a whole Would benefit from such an event up this way
I Have 1 and just love it !!! Haven't drove it in a while........ So with That being said I'm guna dust off and Drive it !!!! Probably film a new video for my channel LOL o_o I've only Have 2 or 3 videos with it so far definitely deserves more !!!!

Can't gp wrong with Vanquish. My grandfather lived in Rockport, ME. Like button selected.

Great vid Greg! That paint job is on point and the way the color changes with the light and angles is awesome. 🇺🇸
Thanks. That’s two full cans of Tamiya Champagne Gold backed with black. Came out pretty cool.
Great video !
Lots of useful details and information.
Thanks for sharing.
This thing is just a monster. Might be a pain in the assembly department but once that's done... Great video!!
I’m building my second one now. They rock.
Good looking rig and great crawling location. I love my Phoenix. There is something about it that makes it grab it over my Ultra when I'm heading out.

thanks for another great video, I just want to know them brass inserts can you add them to the capra ?
lovely rig, maybe one day i will get one, but kinda need a lotto win first
you might want to look at the new vanquish tires in a soft compound.
Which color did you use after the champagne gold to give it the dark gold look?

Love your paint job I’m doing almost the same, how do you get the black window trim around the windows.
Vanquish supplies the window trim decals in the kit.
It's on my Christmas list ... lol I really think the paint job is awesome . ONLY 1 QUESTION where did you get the rear window decal of the stick man with the RC so Cool 😎 GREAT VIDEO
Rc crazy 🤪
The Stick Fig comes with the kit decal sheet. Bonus! 😄
Installed a 540 Fusion SE motor and it just barely fit after some trimming on the inner right upper link mount.
Dammit, now I want one. But man, $800 in electronics and extras and that's not even including the transmitter.

Is there anyway to quiet the transmission noise?
That front spot would be nice for a 3s with velcro up against the radiator... but maybe the body would hit 🤔
Very nice truck
🔵🔵🔵👍👍👍😀😀😀🔵🔵🔵
Will this accommodate other 12.3 bodies?
Thinking of buying one.. will be my first kit, i saw you listed the electronics you used, is there a way i can go cheap on servos?
Buy a good steering servo. The others can be cheap. You can even lock out the transmission levers if you want to build it cheaper as a 2-channel rig.
Straight axle version?
I Have 1 and just love it !!! Haven't drove it in a while........
So with That being said I'm guna dust off and Drive it !!!!
Probably film a new video for my channel LOL o_o
I've only Have 2 or 3 videos with it so far definitely deserves more !!!!
how much time do you spend to build that kit?
Agreed
Its a really good crawler. Is this have locking differntials?
No, they’re locked. All the functionality is in the transmission features.
Cool 💪
That’s a great build, how much time do you spend to build that kit?

Very nice. Wish i could buy a real truck like that.
Can we have more build vids
My trans is noisy too
Can you please send a rc 😔
Guess I will have to sneak and order one. It's the only good part about having adult kids living at home.
They be fearing an increase in board $$$ 🙊
If I were stranded on a desert island .....etc...etc...etc
Man that teak and stuff is outdated
