Cute name 😊. I have two boys, Minós and Alexi (Minós Apollo & Alexi Irmes, named after Ancient Greek/Cretan rulers and mythological gods that are linked to their colouring. They had a little baby sister, Artemisia "Arty" Nyx, but she crossed the 🌈 rainbow bridge way too early 😢). While my eyes certainly can see - and I'm well aware - they're cats, what I truly see when I look at them are two souls, two persons/personalities. I love them as if they were my kids. They're my family. They've taught me a lot - about unconditional love, about letting go, about enjoying the moment, et cetera. They make me laugh out loud, or at least smile on the daily, come cuddle extra when I'm feeling sad or in pain. Minós is particularly sensitive to my moods, energy level and pain levels (I'm seriously chronically ill), and has helped me regulate breathing, sleeping better, and all that. They're the type of cats to want to be in the toilet or shower with me, lol 😅 (shower just outside the water spray though). Following me around is general practice here, and when I return home from sth, I'm always being greeted by two happy boys. The cute stretching - I love it when it's with their front paws, one by one - is absolutely part of that, as well as showing bellies, bunting, purring... you name it. They've given me more than I can ever repay, but I try to do my utmost best to care & show them every single day I love them dearly. Awww... while I was writing that last sentence, sitting up in bed yogi style (crossed legs) Minós jumped on the bed and made himself comfy in said crossed legs, directly on his back, toebeans in the air, purring up a storm ❤. He's the snugglebum of the two, but Alexi has a steady appointment at 4.30AM (yeah, I wish he'd chosen another time, too 😒🤷♀️) where he curls up next to me, usually at my head or middle and expects ALL the scritches 😂. He can definitely be a mommy's boy, but it's like he wants those moments to be just got the two of us. Like when I'm watching sth on my tablet - Minós not with me - and he lays his front paws and head on my legs, or peeks out from under my armpit to watch with me. Or when I wake up at night and feel a cold nose and whiskers pressed to my face, an indication he's checking up on me... and yeah, also wants a kiss before moving on. Absolutely adorable. In the past, I wished he would sleep with me on the bed as well, like his brother. But I realised soon enough his moments of love are extra special - and they're definitely there. He's just different in character. Besides, as soon as temperatures drop, he often sleeps in an elevated basket directly next to my bed - quite regularly touching one paw to my mattress as well. So it's not as if he's not seeking me out. I hope you have many similar wonderful, loving moments with Sparkie ❤.
The thing I love most about having a cat is making a relationship, where we both make allowances for each other, and two creatures that are so different can create a bond of affection. It's not a case of a human simply forcing their will on another animal - hope that makes sense!😄
I hold my cat under her armpits while she stretches !I just love seeing her front toes spreading out! I stretch too and it just feels good when you wake up..

For the belly exposure. We have two tabbies that do that but aren't fond of the belly rubs. The 3rd cat (a tuxedo) will find me at random just so I can rub his belly... every cat's different
I love my cats. They love me in their own way. They stretch because it feels good. They are comfortable around me so they are willing to stretch in front of me.
I think my cat was a dog in a past life because she always follows me everywhere I go and comes every time I call her name. I used to be a dog person until I adopted a cat and I think I’ll be more inclined to adopt a cat instead of a dog in the future when my cat passes away. I don’t think I’ll ever find a car quite like her though, she’s the sweetest thing ever and we have a really close bond
My cat has pica. I have to be careful to not leave certain items out in the open. The shelter told me his first family kept him locked in a bathroom for 2 years before surrendering him. The stress and boredom from this is the only reason the vet thinks he has pica. The items he goes for are all things you'd normally find in a bathroom, or are very similar to them.
My neighbor's cat stretches and waltzes over to me and my dog every time it sees us. And if I don't have my dog, the cat comes right up to my feet and goes belly-up. I feel loved.
My cat rolls on her back when she wants attention, and is one of the few cats I've ever had that actively welcomes belly rubs. Instead of biting when she's had enough, she'll usually gently kick my hand off her belly with her back paws. Never uses her claws, it's more of a "I'm done with it for now" kind of kick. My cat also comes when she's called, but only by me. My wife has tried for weeks to get her to come when called, but she will only come to her she calls her and there's food being prepared for her. My cat also understands the gist of what I tell her. By using visual cues and easy words, she gets most of what I say and usually does it. Like when she was tearing up my blinds because she's only 1 year old, I told her to leave it alone, showed her by holding the blinds, and she never touched the blinds again. I also taught her to be easier with her claws, just by holding my hand and simply saying "Ouch" as if in pain whenever she brought them out when she gets excited from petting, even if it didn't really hurt that much. So now she just pushes my hand away with one of her paws when she's had enough. Considering I got her as a tiny thing that was starving and dehydrated from the intense summers of the Southeast U.S., she's pretty smart and attentive. I think she has a really strong imprint as I am the guy that took her from near-death and gave her a second chance at life.
I had expected that there would be a sinister reason like the cat is trying to get you in case it senses that you are weak and therefore become a prey.
I would ignore my friends adopted rescue Cat when he got him. And it soon after it resulted in me becoming his favorite human visitor. He just decided to come and sit beside me on the couch while my friend and I were talking. I looked at him said hello and gave him a quick gentle scratch behind the ear and went back to talking. He then laid down next to me and went to sleep.
When my cat died. I died. I grew up with dogs and loved dogs. Didn't care for cats. My sister got a cat, and was moving and her roommate was allergic to cats and I took the kitty. She was a bitch but melted my heart. I got a male cat later and they just made me swoon
My boy sleeps in the garden every day and I walk down the drive way and he stretches out with his belly up knowing it’s time for belly rubs in the sunshin
I had a Very Fury Cat that would cool off by just walking across the carpet, stop walking w/ his back legs and let them stretch out straight behind him and then keep the front legs going until he was dragging his body along the carpet, then he would end w/ his front legs straight out in front. His body length would easily Double doing that and it give everyone a funny visual while at it.
There's an element of truth to these assertions, but the reality is; cat's are smart. If you are an out of shape, overweight person, like myself, a cat will likely display the most acrobatic moves in it's arsenal when it see's you. Afterwards the cat's stretches out in total mockery of it's owners physical limitations. Some cat's have been known to stand up on both legs, for hours on end, if their owner is confined to a wheelchair. Other cat's just shoot into a wall, unexpectedly, if it's owner is blind - with a walking stick. I don't have a cat at this moment, but I have three dog's! They go outside to poo poo/ pee pee, and are very well house-broken. I have been constipated for a week now, and just this morning my Pepper took a big dump right in front of the toilet. Pepper is a big girl, and sometimes we call her, "Tank", but now the joke is on me as I had to adjust the ballcock in the toilet TANK to get her big turds flushed all the way down!
Based on my 60+ years of experience, the only time cats stretch when they greet you is when they've been sleeping, and they've just woken up. I would have to say that I have never noticed a cat stretch in front of me that hadn't just been sleeping.
@@deadmeat8754 Yep, that's my experience as well. All of my cats will stretch when they see me, whether lying down or standing up. It doesn't have anything to do with sleeping.
I noticed that, when cats chatter a prey, other cats will know this particular cat saw something of interest. It's also a way of letting other cats know there's prey. It's a way of involuntary communication, because they can't help the chattering.
I don't own a cat but there's a stray cat I feed during my evening walk. He'll come running when he sees me and start to stretch and rub objects near me, He will even give me an occasional meow, but he won't let me pet him.
Cats: Human! Stop over analyzing my behavior! Now throw away those leftovers in my bowl and serve me some fresh meat. Meanwhile I will just chill here in this cozy bed.
Not really baseless. If a cat is scared, frightened or wary of you, there is NO way it's going to do a relaxed stretch in front of you, or lie on its back with its belly exposed. Same for dogs, really. Your comment is baseless lol.
@@Kayenne54 You’re right. “Baseless” was just wrong. “Unscientific” is better. And that is not meant as a pejorative; lots of good guesses are presented. The inner life of Kitty is somewhat opaque.

Cats stretch when they see a human just in case they have to open a can of whupass. Best to limber up before strenuous activity....
After a drink, my cat always does a shake and a stretch
Cats rule! Dogs drool😊
For the belly exposure. We have two tabbies that do that but aren't fond of the belly rubs. The 3rd cat (a tuxedo) will find me at random just so I can rub his belly... every cat's different
Man I love cats!
No worries, you'll definitely not find a car like her anywhere
That's what cats normally do. I had a cat that does followed me everywhere
All kittehz eez GOOD kittehz! ❤️😺❤️
Thank you for summarizing in the details section
My cats always stretched like that when they entered the room to join the rest of the family.
I was a dog person for years had 2 cats know its opposite...😂
its the eye blinks that really mean anything, forget the stretches.

If you're chill your cat will love you.
It's the smile when your crush walks into the room.
My 7 year old tortie comes to me whenever I call her name
Mine too.
"Cats do understand you calling their name, they just choose to ignore you."
Also, the chattering is believed to be to warm up the jaw muscles preparing to bite prey.
All 3 of my cats come to me when called -- quite uncommon.
My two cats start to come to me when I arrive, but then realize they are cats and are supposed to ignore me.
I warm up my jaw muscles before a meal with an appetizer. Usually cheesy poofs.

Ditto.🤣🤣🤣
It's like, there, I've done my duty. Bye 😑🐈
My cat comes to me when I call her name
Actually it's more common
I had expected that there would be a sinister reason like the cat is trying to get you in case it senses that you are weak and therefore become a prey.
One of my dogs do this. I always thought it was because he had just woken up from a nap whenever I come home.
My cat stretches just to make a in place circle just to lay in the same spot and nap another 8 hrs!
I love those creatures so much
When my cat died. I died. I grew up with dogs and loved dogs. Didn't care for cats. My sister got a cat, and was moving and her roommate was allergic to cats and I took the kitty. She was a bitch but melted my heart. I got a male cat later and they just made me swoon
they might even bite you if you dont give them attention lol
Lol, I always thought they stretched because they had been sleeping, just like we do.
Cat nap=Sleep constantly.
I am so thankful that i have cat. He is the reason why i get up more happy and sane. I am sure I am related by blood with him but i cannot prove it 😂
When an animal stretches and aims its but whole right at you is called the African Salute. My cat does that to me all the time 😺
My boy sleeps in the garden every day and I walk down the drive way and he stretches out with his belly up knowing it’s time for belly rubs in the sunshin
It's no different than for humans: "Oh dear, I gotta get back to work. Ok, let's do this".
It's their way of saying hey hooman feed me then I'll go back to sleep 😆
Based on my 60+ years of experience, the only time cats stretch when they greet you is when they've been sleeping, and they've just woken up.
I would have to say that I have never noticed a cat stretch in front of me that hadn't just been sleeping.
Hmmm...you probably aren't very observant, or make a lot of assumptions. Stretching during greets is a common feline behavior. even Big Cats do it.
@@deadmeat8754 Yep, that's my experience as well. All of my cats will stretch when they see me, whether lying down or standing up. It doesn't have anything to do with sleeping.
My experience as well after 55 cat-years. 😊
Mine often do when not sleeping
most cats stretch when i sit near them outside.. i thought it was for petting
Oh great, here she comes to pick me up again 🙄🤣
because they just slept for 14 hours
I noticed that, when cats chatter a prey, other cats will know this particular cat saw something of interest.
It's also a way of letting other cats know there's prey.
It's a way of involuntary communication, because they can't help the chattering.
The stretch says " here is the one who loves me and knows I am special"
5:08 lol so cute😁
My cat always stretches to greet only me 😂
My cat stretches when I grab her toy, because she knows she's about to play
~ Love It! -
I find it incredibly cute when they stretch and scrunch up their faces
I always pet my kitty when he stretches 😻
I don't own a cat but there's a stray cat I feed during my evening walk. He'll come running when he sees me and start to stretch and rub objects near me, He will even give me an occasional meow, but he won't let me pet him.
My cats don't even bother to lift their heads when I come home. lol
😻😻😻
That's a curtsy. They know that I'm the real queen 👑
Cats: Human! Stop over analyzing my behavior! Now throw away those leftovers in my bowl and serve me some fresh meat. Meanwhile I will just chill here in this cozy bed.
Thank you
Ours comes running into the living room and stretches pretty much any time I come downstairs, especially first thing in the morning.
W creatures fr
they are just bowing in the face of our majesty.
Getting ready for food, only without the need to hunt 😅
my dog is a cat so this was helpful 😂
Mine does it in preparation to leap and bound through the house.
This is a bunch of baseless speculation but hey, I’ll watch kitties stretch all day! 😊
@@StevenBanks123 Lol. Okay, I'll pay this one. "Opaque" is a very apt description.
