    When I first put down a deposit for a Cybertruck on the night of the reveal I would have never imagined what would come to pass after. $39k & 2-3% interest rates VS now. Price unknown but most likely $50-$60k and 8%+ interest rates. I don’t really need another vehicle but there’s no way I’m paying the new rates. I’ll keep my reservation for now, hoping for a better outcome in the future.

    It would be awesome if Tesla could make 2 different sizes of the Cybertruck. The smaller one the size of the rivian, and the larger one the size of the 2019 prototype.

    The question is why would Tesla sell it for $50K considering the average new truck sold is $59K (Kelley Blue Book). The price will be $69,997 or $62,500 with tax credit.

    How did we get to the point that 1k a month for a vehicle is the norm? I can't stand owing someone money, so i guess I'll just have to stick to paying cash for my used vehicles.

    Good analysis, and speculation. I would have also thrown in the comparative numbers for the F150 Lightning, and a comparable F150 pickup. Maybe even something like the Maverick Hybrid pickup, or Toyota Hybrid Tacoma. This info would make for a good follow up video for this one, to show comparable costs of ownership. Especially for most people who own ICE vehicles today, and don't think much about gas and maintenance costs, when comparing to EVs.

    What I dont get - is why is everyone saying "there is no maintenance costs" on Tesla EVs and rental companies like Herz are reporting massive maintenance bills and depreciation as number one reason to dump them.
    This car costs its initial MSRP over 5 years in maintenance and depreciation. Easily.

    Hey Great Video. I have a Tri motor CT on order. My order number is around 663,000 so im probably not going to be getting mine for about another year and a half unless production ramps up to over 350K per year or higher. Do you happen to know what the production of units will be per year? Also, ive heard rumors the Tri motor will prob be around $75-80K initially before the Fed Tax savings. This is also before options and self driving.

    I think Cybertruck will be a real working truck while the others are just pretty trucks more designed for city folk than the day in day out abuse the comes from farming or ranching. Long range, largest bed, high towing capacity, stainless exoskeleton, hardened glass, fording ability, air suspension, and certainly the best efficiency of any EV pickup will set Cybertruck apart from the pretty trucks.

  • @commuterbranchline8132

    Overnight home charging with solar panels and battery home storage will be the way to fuel the CT. All EV’s are heavy and are hard on tyres if driven enthusiast. With a reported 2 million pre- orders, the CyberTruck is sold out for 8-10 years and while production delays are frustrating, I’d rather they got it right than rush to market. The utility and capability of the CT will be the most shocking element of the vehicle. Hopeful we won’t have too much longer to wait……

    I've never liked the looks of the cybertruck. I really like my lightning. It looks like an F150, because it is an F150. Except it's electric. I've wanted an all electric truck for years. The only hybrid I've owned was the prius. I wish I got better range with my platinum, but still it gets well over the 50 mpg that I got with my 2018 prius. And this is nearly a 7000 lb vehicle.
    As a bonus:
    I have a built in 9.6 kwh gasless generator that I can power my home with. I don't believe the cybertruck has that ability.

    Have had a CT reservation since the early days. Not sure if I will stay with it, and of course we really do not have the data (price, actual specs). In the meantime I have a Rivian which I quite like. My main concern with the CT is the attention and size. That pic you showed of the Rivian vs the CT I think distorts the relative sizes, making the Rivian look larger. I have owned a full size truck and concluded I just did not like the size for driving around town, parking at the grocery store. As far as attention, I have owned some unique vehicles. Some attention is cool. But for me, there is a point where it is tiresome. I fear that the CT, especially in the earlier days, will be a vehicular attention whore machine. As a friend once said when he sold his Lotus... it was like putting on a Tuxedo to go to 7-11. And sometimes you just want to annonymously drive to 7-11. Anyway... it is only $100 so keeping my toe in the water. I also have a larger deposit on a new Wingamm. We shall see what comes first.

    I was holding out for the truck but pulled the trigger on the Y due to 1)FSD transfer 2)7500 tax cred 3)Tire cost. I still plan on getting the truck because if you want one now, crunching the numbers, the wait time is 7 years. Therefore you could get the truck, get the 7500 rebate, sell the cyber truck for cost and probably more (just like the early days of the model Y and hummer)

      Same can be said for about every consumer pickup out there. I don't think there will be a high percentage of "car people" opting for a cybertruck so you'll be mostly dealing with a large SUV and Truck clientele. When comparing cybertruck efficiency to these vehicles it will be far more efficient than the ICE alternatives that it will be displacing.

    There is no such thing as a federal rebate That you can put towards your monthly payment.
    There’s a $7500 tax CREDIT that you might be able to use next year to lower your tax bill if you actually have $7,500 in liabilities. But you can’t just knock $7500 off the top of the price of any EV.

    • @BenSullinsOfficial
      @BenSullinsOfficial  9 місяців тому +12

      That changes next year. From the IRA FAQ on EV Tax Credits "Starting in 2024, the Inflation Reduction Act establishes a mechanism that will allow car buyers to transfer the credit to dealers at the point of sale so that it can directly reduce the purchase price." - home.treasury.gov/system/files/136/EV-Tax-Credit-FAQs.pdf

      Eh. It’s pretty vague. How do you transfer $7500, if you haven’t even done your taxes, and know for sure that you will have $7500 in liabilities?
      Sounds pretty risky for the dealer to accept. Or does the government even care what your tax liabilities are? Maybe they’ll just hand out $7,500 regardless of peoples tax situation.
      That’s just taxpayers subsidizing their neighbors car. Wealth redistribution. Which means the car manufacturers will just raise prices $7,500 more than the car should be.
      Which is increasing inflation, not reducing it. 🤦‍♂️

    • @BenSullinsOfficial
      @BenSullinsOfficial  9 місяців тому

      Correct, it won't matter what your liabilities are. This isn't that new at the state level, just at the federal. So it won't be difficult to implement. Some friends of mine (in GA) were able to get a Nissan Leaf years ago due to a state credit they could transfer to the dealer for around $40/mo. It's what led them to buy a Model X and make a UA-cam channel about it :)

  • @adrianpbaxter4071
    @adrianpbaxter4071 9 місяців тому +4

    You forgot GAS. Here's some figurein' for ya: Ford F-150 driven like a man 20 mpg, driven 15,000 miles per year = 750 gal of gas burned into the atmo @ $4.35 per gal = $3262.50 money you'll no longer spend with your bullet proof cybertruck or Tesla... anything = your monthly loan payment minus $271.86, so your $766 - $271.86 = $494.12 per month. And no oil changes, or 02 sensors to go bad, or any maintenance for years really.

    I'm about 125,000th in line on CT reservations. I ordered the dual motor with full self driving locked in at $7500 bringing my proder estimate to $57,499. $57,499 is a lot of money for a car for me, but the EV savings offsets it..... Well, here we are and deliveries are happening, and I think mine will be late this year and I'm beyond BUMMED!
    Projected new cost? $79,990 + $7500 = $87,490
    52% increase in msrp. Interest rates are doubled...... and to add insult to injury, It now doesn't qualify for the Federal EV $7500 rebate. Yep, an extra F-You from Tesla bumping the price of the dual motor all wheel drive version to $10 below the threshold so you can't get any upgrades or options.
    I'm just waiting to hear from Tesla when my order is getting ready to be filled and I'll make a final decision, no sense crying over un-spilt milk. If they called me today though, I'd have to decline and you'd find me in new other brand truck within 6 months

      I'm afraid you're not alone. Good news is the Model Y is fantastic and priced well so good options out there still.

    Duel motor awd is probably gonna be $55k with rebate. Compared to even a gas f150 or tundra this will be fair , and even cheaper considering operating cost.
    If you are comparing the tri motor or quad motor that will probably be $90k which is more comparable to a raptor R or TRX which are over $100k. The cyber will out sell everything, probably even like a $45k Tacoma.

    Would love to have one but I personally hope the King of Autism goes broke trying to sell his cars and trucks.
