It was potentially relevant too! If he hadn't drawn 2 castable bolts on the last turn, it wouldn't have been enough! The downside of playing so many decks all the time; sometimes you don't play as well as you could've.
If you decide to sac more than one Courier, hold priority and sac all of them before letting any of the triggers resolve, that way you only discard your hand once and get to keep all the cards you draw.
Deck intro: "The Flame of Keld is that good, that powerful!" Me: Hey, he said it right! Exactly 2.0623555427 micro-seconds after having said that: "Flame of the Keld, Flame of the Keld, Flame of the Keld." This is why I have trust issues.
ua-cam.com/video/YesY90Goam8/v-deo.html To be fair, it was the 'standard' with Fetch lands and Origins, so it was pretty much modern. Just take the bad cards out and put in the good ones.
Modern is WAY more powerful than Khan's standard, but it's not just about the cards, back when Seth first made the 34 Rhinos deck he was still a bit awkward in the videos and hadn't found his cheerful style yet, so part of the reason I want to see 34 Rhinos for modern is that it would be a blast to watch him play.
I know this is a budget version but I've been play testing with 7 fetches (4 foothills, 3 mires) and splashing green stomping ground in main and my god it makes the deck 100x better, gives you access to enchantment removal with destructive revelry and thins your deck out a lot, you can still run blood moon in the side (I run blood moon, has won me SO many games) and it doesnt affect you hardly
I think it's really good! I also put in a Bedlam Reveler instead of Insult/Injury, after play testing I just was never actually casting it and ended up discarding it all of the time, it seems too expensive to cast in my opinion. Also I've been experimenting with dragons claw and ensaring bridge in the side for those grinder matchups and it seems actually quite good also
insult also makes all of your damage double (i feel like you thought it just prevents fog) so flame of keld ultimate + insult = 10 dmg per lighting bolt and your 1/1s do 6 dmg it is really good as a surprise finisher imo
I've been playing leagues with the deck and the only change I've made is Relic of Progenitus for Tormod's Crypt in the sideboard. Still trying to figure out what to use in place of Insult to Injury.
35:36 Assuming they didn't have another burn spell you also could have led on Flame of the Keld and bolted in response to their removal to ensure game while still being able to crack a Bomat for the additional bolt.
missed lethal at 18:37 play mountain first, faithless looting (prowess prowess) discard both fiery temper cast both for madness (prowess prowess prowess prowess) for 14 damage.
at 15:00, you could have flashbacked 2nd half of insult/injury for 2 dmg (opp goes to 5) then wiz lightning (they go to 2) then alpha. they block 1 then die to other
it kinda feels weird doubling damage when you have to spend 3 mana on Insult... But it seems like a last resort late game finisher of some sorts, if you happen to draw a lot of your 18 lands
In theory Field of Ruin is nice in mill because it forces the shuffle and search, even if you choose not to find a land. This means it 100% turns on Archive Trap for 0 even if the opponent is trying to play around using any search effects. Typically even mono-colored decks will run some fetch lands, but obviously not in this case.
So Seth, what are your thoughts on adding Skewer the Critics from Allegiance instead of Wizard's Lightning, then taking out Soul-Scar Mages for Goblin Guides?
Hey Saffron, I made some more changes to the deck. The green splash wasn't doing another, only adding 1 extra card to the side so instead I decided to go with white splash instead, running 7 fetches and 2 sacred foundries. Now I have access to Rest in Peace, Stony Silence, Path to Exile and Wear//Tear in my side which is giving me a TONNE more options, I have an updated deck list if you would like to see it?
Love the deck, and if you want to be faster at wiping a souls board, replace your whirlers for blazing volley, unless you really think tjat extra body counts
have you ever thought about trying a curse of the cabal against the odds? (maybe BG ramp to make it playable, although you can't really play bob with a 10 drop in your deck)
Seth can you do a mono of traditional styles for each color. Like this was perfect for burn players. I haven’t been enjoying the last two budget vids based around cards.
It's time to build mardu burn, we get black for the one mana madness card that drains for 3 for one mana, of course bump in the night. Then we play goblin lore for more discard so we have moreenablers for madness.
This is the thing of fast red decks they are fast and consistent enough to run over almost any deck what is amazing about this deck is the ammount of removal and consistency owing to the fact that the lootings and flame to the keld filter. The discard synergy I see as a replacement for seering blood/blaze in traditional burn deck and against control decks with little to no Creatures the discard is greater that the additional card efficiency of offered by those cards boros charm offers more damage but less flexibility lightning helix in burn decks are quite potent though and eidelon as well. if you have enough resources insult can be devastating though
Not gonna leave a single point of damage on the board he says... Anyway, how do you submit for fishbowl Thursdays, and is it too early to submit deck lists with the new GRN cards?
Feel like you could splash blue for snapcaster to get graveyard value. Maybe shivan reef and the check lands to not get hit by choke. I know that makes it a $400 deck but feel like it makes it significantly better and more consistent
So why not rift bolt and chain lightning? You don't have to play around them as much as wizards lightning and fiery temper. Also rampaging ferocidon might be an alright side board option.
Chain Lightning would be great, but isn't available in Modern. Rift Bolt could be good, but there's a weird balancing act of discard outlets, WIzards and bolts, so I'm not sure exactly how to make it fit.
Honestly, especially since I have the landbase, I'd probably try it with a splash of blue for Snappy in those flex spots. And probably switch the Runners for Guides or Delvers. Much testing must be done...
Seth in match 1: “I’m not going to forget any more damage Seth in Match 2 (20:00): forgets to attack with swiftspeirer with opponent tapped out with no board
It's close. I've been playing leagues with it and getting winning records. I think it's a really good starter option if the goal is to win as much as possible.
Slower than 8 whack, but better reach. Overall 8 whack is probably better, although the non budget version of this deck (naya burn) has a far better sideboard.
"Nice Jaces; you're dead"
Top quote of 2018
I was just going to post the same quote here.
instablaster
20:03 "our challenge is going to be killing our opponent before they go infinite" misses 1 damage with Monastary Swiftspear while saying it
I was looking for exactly this comment. Play Burn -> proceed to miss a point of dmg two turns into the game
It was potentially relevant too! If he hadn't drawn 2 castable bolts on the last turn, it wouldn't have been enough! The downside of playing so many decks all the time; sometimes you don't play as well as you could've.
Yup
Evan Tamol Very good point!
Evan Tamol Honestly, any point of damage is always relevant when you are playing Burn
"Fiery Temple."
Please never change Seth.
It's fire to the temple!
Exactly that's just a great name for fiery temper to the face
Hard to change when you have a speech impediment
"Flame of the Keld"...
"It is kinda fun to just kill people sometimes." -Seth (probably better known as SaffronOlive) circa 2018
Glad I checked to see if anyone already quoted this before I came and quoted it too.
H M M M M M M
You can't spell "slaughter" without "laughter"
"It is kinda fun to just kill people sometimes." -Seth, prooooobably better known as SaffronMurderer
If you decide to sac more than one Courier, hold priority and sac all of them before letting any of the triggers resolve, that way you only discard your hand once and get to keep all the cards you draw.
They are still 3 "discard your hand" additional costs, holding them won't prevent that you have to discard 3 times.
That is great to know, holy shit
He probably did it that way for the fiery temper madness enabling
“Uploaded 37 seconds ago” 37 views. We’re basically a cult guys.
Alex Laureyns so true lol
sounds about right
Alex Laureyns when I saw this comment it was 37 minutes old
37 minutes ago *gasp*
37?! In a row?!
That last Faithless Looting has to be the best possible way to end the video
Still wish it was Flame of Keld + Insult + Bolt + Bolt. 20 Damage. 4 cards. 3 turns.
But is it best, then infinite damage chainwhirler?
This decks performance was shocking
you could say it was on fire
Nah shock only deals 2 damage
You can say this deck bolted the 5-0.
It was lit
Deck intro: "The Flame of Keld is that good, that powerful!"

Magnivore519 I feel like content creators should be smarter than this to have so many followers. Sometimes I think he has a real problem.
Please make 34 Rhinos for modern!
I'm pretty sure he did already
Nope, he only did it for standard.
ua-cam.com/video/YesY90Goam8/v-deo.html To be fair, it was the 'standard' with Fetch lands and Origins, so it was pretty much modern.
Just take the bad cards out and put in the good ones.
Abzan Rites can do 16 Rhinos
Modern is WAY more powerful than Khan's standard, but it's not just about the cards, back when Seth first made the 34 Rhinos deck he was still a bit awkward in the videos and hadn't found his cheerful style yet, so part of the reason I want to see 34 Rhinos for modern is that it would be a blast to watch him play.

Destructive Revelry is a really good sideboard option. Sounds like a sweet plan.
I think it's really good! I want 11:58 as a standalone soundbyte lol.
Typical burn player thoughts: "Do we have to count this?"
You're playing twelve bolt, what's there to think about other than 3 to face?!? =P
Is it 3 + 2, 3 + 1 or even more? Prowess and Keld make it nice : )
This deck is *Usain!*
Flame of the Keld is so under rated. You really have opened my eyes Seth.
Every time he played it, it looked really strong.
Please stream a non-budget version of this deck!
Do we have the non-budget list?
My guess is Goblin Guide and Lava Spike?
I'm not even sure that's a worthwhile upgrade. Just kills the synergies
Just play normal burn at that point
The non budget list is like 10 dollars more. -3 Tormod's Crypt +1 Young Pyromancer + 2 Relic of Progenitus.
:P
I've been playing leagues with the deck and the only change I've made is Relic of Progenitus for Tormod's Crypt in the sideboard. Still trying to figure out what to use in place of Insult to Injury.
I'm not a agro player typically, but jeez does this deck make me consider turning to the dark side... Nice job Seth, really spicy!
Dear golly you drew around 12 cards ahead using Bomat Tron against 8-whack. That was a work of art.
Finally, a modern deck I can make. Great video.
THE Flame of Keld!
Thanks for the video! That's a sweet deck!!
Games start at 8:32
Thx for sharing Seth ;)
Now there is the will to try it !
"If our opponent can gain 50 life we're in trouble" literally every deck besides mill or infect
35:36
Assuming they didn't have another burn spell you also could have led on Flame of the Keld and bolted in response to their removal to ensure game while still being able to crack a Bomat for the additional bolt.

20 Bolt? 4x Lava Spike 4x Rift Bolt
lava spike can't hit creatures. not a true bolt
@@honeyham6788 most hit any target
20 bolts it just burn, mono red burn
Add black for bump in the night? TWENTY-FOUR BOLT?👌
@@BugattiFan301 bump can't deal it's damage to any target not a bolt. Close enough if we wanted to build a all bolt deck. Getting closer
Any thought to Hazoret for the SB? Turn any grindy games into draw a bolt every turn or 4 mana deal 6 with Temper. Also Ramunap Ruins?
22:10 I would have kept back the lavamancer to chump a part the watervail land, but it probably wouldn't hav changed much
Just be glad that you didn't run into Bogles. Ensnaring Bridge should be on your list of sideboard upgrades to hedge against the matchup.
Even with a few mistakes very well played. Bomat Courier and Flame of Keld looked like the mvp's for this deck.
I love how you talked up the mill game and got WRECKED by crypt incursion. God, I love that card 😝
Crypt Incursion is brutal, so much lifegain.;
Thanks, Seth. You just rewrote the meta...
Any updates on making 8-Whack with Titan Pact and Devastating Summons?
What do the Young Pyromnacer come in against? Leyline decks?
Man, flashback to the old mono-red burn list we made Seth play in spite of his hatred of it
What's better than Bolt the Bird? 27:30.
@MTGGoldfish Seth, did you see Todd Stevens going off with Experimental Frenzy? It was a thing of beauty...
Those mountains look so good. What set are they from?
Insult also doubles damage for the turn, making it a powerful(although pretty expensive) finisher for games that stretch on for a while
it kinda feels weird doubling damage when you have to spend 3 mana on Insult... But it seems like a last resort late game finisher of some sorts, if you happen to draw a lot of your 18 lands
Omg this deck is a blast. I wanna play it so bad.
Love the vid! I can't help but wonder if there's room for Skullcrack in the 75 after watching the one game with Mill.
Could be a good sideboard option.
Yeah, Field of Ruin is great in mill, just not against our deck :)
So Seth, what are your thoughts on adding Skewer the Critics from Allegiance instead of Wizard's Lightning, then taking out Soul-Scar Mages for Goblin Guides?
I had a feeling that Bomat could see play in Modern. Its such good value.
I would think about cutting the Gut Shots/Insult for 4 Lava Spikes or Rift Bolts, but this one was great. Def putting it together online.
2:54 I sure love me some LIZARDS
16:00 instead of Injury + Wizards, I would've done Wizards + Keld + Fiery Temper.
That way you've setup to draw again next turn.
33:08 "I have a message to deliver, your hands only."
Received Damage 3x
Hey Saffron, I made some more changes to the deck. The green splash wasn't doing another, only adding 1 extra card to the side so instead I decided to go with white splash instead, running 7 fetches and 2 sacred foundries. Now I have access to Rest in Peace, Stony Silence, Path to Exile and Wear//Tear in my side which is giving me a TONNE more options, I have an updated deck list if you would like to see it?
46:10 "Wellllll we're gonna need to draw lots of Bolts" :Draws 3 Fiery Temper off Bomat: "OOOOOMG"
Love the deck, and if you want to be faster at wiping a souls board, replace your whirlers for blazing volley, unless you really think tjat extra body counts
I bet you would have a lot of fun playing Bogles too. All the mean decks
How would you update this to include skewer the Critics and Light up the Stage?
What would I replace to make a 16 bolt deck with Skewer the Critics?
You know that swiftspear has haste right?Missed that multiple times
have you ever thought about trying a curse of the cabal against the odds? (maybe BG ramp to make it playable, although you can't really play bob with a 10 drop in your deck)
This deck looks really fun
Seth can you do a mono of traditional styles for each color. Like this was perfect for burn players. I haven’t been enjoying the last two budget vids based around cards.
Magic Aids back at it ag-- wrong channel
Flaming 12 Bolt actually sounds like an awesome name for a deck.
Consistent! Fiery temper/faithless looting make the deck synergise
I petition for the name to be 12 bolt battery
Mono-red Lightning Bolt Tribal, I love it
Why not run skull crack in side board for decks that have life gain?
Just curious: why not lava spike or rift bolt? Too expensive for the budget? Or am I missing something. Just curious
I play the standard version and love it. It will get upgrades from Ravinca.
do you think risk factor can get in, in this deck?
It's time to build mardu burn, we get black for the one mana madness card that drains for 3 for one mana, of course bump in the night.
Then we play goblin lore for more discard so we have moreenablers for madness.
This is the thing of fast red decks they are fast and consistent enough to run over almost any deck what is amazing about this deck is the ammount of removal and consistency owing to the fact that the lootings and flame to the keld filter. Yo Seth, what about a jank vampires deck that was killing on mtga before the reset? I got a list I could send over if it's of interest
Sure!
those mountains look sweet what set are they?
same with the islands at 22:00 if anyone knows
The Mountains are Invastion, I think the Islands were Mirage.
Not gonna leave a single point of damage on the board he says... Anyway, how do you submit for fishbowl Thursdays, and is it too early to submit deck lists with the new GRN cards?
I have a G/B monsters and a U/B miracles list to offer for your janktasticness.
Feel like you could splash blue for snapcaster to get graveyard value. Maybe shivan reef and the check lands to not get hit by choke. I know that makes it a $400 deck but feel like it makes it significantly better and more consistent
Might this deck want a few copies of Ramunap Ruins? Seems like a very small downside for a small amount of extra reach.
I still think we should find room in the deck for Rift Bolts, because why have 12 bolts when you can have 16?
So why not rift bolt and chain lightning? You don't have to play around them as much as wizards lightning and fiery temper.
Also rampaging ferocidon might be an alright side board option.
Well chain lightning isn't modern legal, and rift bolt doesn't quite synergize with the rest of the deck.
Chain Lightning would be great, but isn't available in Modern. Rift Bolt could be good, but there's a weird balancing act of discard outlets, WIzards and bolts, so I'm not sure exactly how to make it fit.
is there no free discard outlet for firey temper?
We have a bunch of discard outlets, but none of them are free.
Honestly, especially since I have the landbase, I'd probably try it with a splash of blue for Snappy in those flex spots.
And probably switch the Runners for Guides or Delvers. Much testing must be done...
If you have shocks and fetches it's worth a shot.
Oh boy, over 50 minutes of Flame of The Keld
New name for this deck: The flame of 12 Bolt
Blastin em with the "Firey Temples"
Hi, Dismissive Pyromancer seems fantastic here
what about non-budget version stream of this deck? :-D
I'm down. The deck is really good.
I think PYromancer Ascension and Pyromancer’s Swath could be good additions to the deck. Swath is basically copies 5-8 of Flame of Keld.
Swath is fun (except it doesn't draw cards).
MTGGoldfish you know what else doesn’t draw cards? Panharmonicon.
23:10 really aiming for that high note I see
I want to buy a budget deck to play modern in a little store. Is it worth to buy this deck or Do you recommend me some other decks??? Nice video Gold
I think this is a pretty good option for competing locally on a budget.
Thank you sir :)
New player here so forgive me if this is a dumb question but could you not also play lightning strike in this deck?
It would fit the name but Lightning Strike is too slow, costing twice as much as Lightning Bolt for the same effect.
Seth in match 1: “I’m not going to forget any more damage
Seth in Match 2 (20:00): forgets to attack with swiftspeirer with opponent tapped out with no board
But cuz he’s Seth, never punished
why you keep missing hasty attacks with swiftspear? happened like 3 times so far 20min in. is it a strategy?
No, he's just not very good at magic.
idk man, he gets' 5-0 a lot with these jank decks. i built hollow one wayyyy early because his video lol saved me hundreds of dollars.
I don't play much aggro. My instinct is always to not attack ;)
He's not bad by any means, he just makes a lot of silly mistakes you wouldn't expect from someone who has played as much as he has.
I'm stunned at how optimal this deck is. Budget friendly, IRL magic friendly, STANDARD PLAYER friendly? What's next, it wins a GP?
It's close. I've been playing leagues with it and getting winning records. I think it's a really good starter option if the goal is to win as much as possible.
It turns out that 3 damage for one red is preeeeetyyy goooood
I expected at least a chalice on 1 reckt, or turn one Leyline of Sanctity. Lucky you
Good deck madnes burn is so much value / fun
why no skullcrack in the sideboard?
Could throw it in, there isn't a ton of lifegain among the top decks at the moment, but it's a good option to keep in mind.
No Rift Bolt? No Shard Volley? We could have 20 Bolt here!
Deck looks sweet. lol
Is this deck better or worse than 8-whack goblins?
Slower than 8 whack, but better reach. Overall 8 whack is probably better, although the non budget version of this deck (naya burn) has a far better sideboard.
I think it's on the same level. I'm not sure which is better, but if you're looking for a GP level budget deck I think those are the two best options.
Anyone recognize what mountains he was playing in the video?
They are from Invasion.
so what about when people run naturalize effects on your flame of keld...
Using a lot of standard staples here. Nice. I assume that's because they're so cheap on account of rotation?
That's part of the reason, yep!
