Thar has become like royal enfield, earlier both were rare sight now both have become common. Thar has become a lifestyle vehicle...while gurkha is still the pure hardcore offroader.
No, force wants gurkha to be a lifestyle vehicle but they failed doing that. If they really wanted it to be a hard-core offroader and a rural vehicle then they would not have offered double wishbone front suspension.
@@Bhaidostyaar not exactly. Independent suspension is more comfortable & helps in better handling than solid axle which makes gurkha more comfortable for highway cruising. I have to say, this video really opened my eyes to the significantly improved comfort levels on the Gurkha. It has more space, and rides more comfortably than the Thar. If only it had the power to match. Am sure there will be aftermarket engine mod jobs for the Gurkha.
Test drove the Gurkha recently. Felt fine on the open highway. Was comfortably cruising at 90 kmph. When i got into a traffic jam i found it very easy to maneuver through traffic that seemed to just give way to it. While the Gurkha looks great from factory most Thar owners spend a couple of lacs bringing it up to spec. Did you notice how it towered over the Thar and made it look puny in comparasion? A Gurkha with its hardtop and space can easily be the primary and only car for a family of 4 unlike the Thar. Maybe thats why i booked a Green Gurkha right after the test drive.
People customise thar because they want to give it a unique touch and not bcoz it’s a necessity. Even vanilla thar looks really good on road. Except the hard top, thar even in 3 door guise is miles ahead of gurkha.
@@projecttruth3610 you have your views and i have mine. Looks are very subjective anyway. If you like the Thar then that is your choice and deserves respect. 👍

Manuuj Kathuria • 0 seconds ago Lets talk about practicality for a moment: The Gurkha has way more space for luggage, more head room, leg room and shoulder room for passengers. Its metal hardtop ensures one can have a factory fitted luggage carrier, besides being much safer too. Most highways I've driven on have a speed limit of 90 kmph. One can cruise all day at 2000 rpm at 90 kmph in a Gurkha. Why would i need to drive at 120 and pick a 2000 challan every speed camera i cross? The Gurkha is better offroad, practical since its more spacious, safer with its metal top, quieter at high speeds, better ride quality, and looks far better in stock form than the Thar. Looks ofcourse are subjective.
The problem is safe overtaking on a single lane highway. With a 0-100 time of almost half a minute(terribly slow for a vehicle in this day and age) the gurkha will struggle to even pass busses and trucks safely. You will have to plan for overtakes which in turn tires the driver out on longer journeys. Meanwhile the thar will be much safer for the same. So the gurkha makes sense only if the use case is offroad most of the time
Road performance doesn't matters much in an off-road vehicle. But practically like more space and comfortable ingress will help. Will choose Gurkha over thar 👍
Thar is certainly a superior car but Gorkha runs it surprisingly close. In fact it looks tougher, more imposing and is more spacious. It's a more practical family car. For a typical customer of this class of cars who want only one car in the family these are the virtues that appeal to him more. Well done Force Motors!
A manual locking differential definitely gives you an advantage in tricky situations. Mahindra must consider it atleast as an optional package. Off roading enthusiasts surely wouldn't mind the extra premium for the same.
@@arunjoshy7893 They do it for all vehicles. They are having a seperate agency for delivering the vehicle to the showroom. All force vehicle is driven from factory to showroom. Just to add to your comparison/conclusion, Mahindra's wide distribution of service centers will always keep it way ahead of Force. Frankly, I haven't seen a Force Motor service center yet, in my 17 yrs of driving experience!
I still can't understand why did force cancelled the 140hp engine that Gurkha once provided..it should have killed the thar once in for all..btw when it comes to superior offroading..its always the Gurkha..but the price is not justified!
Force should immediately reconsider the Mercedes sourced OM 611 engine of the earlier Gurkha to stay in the game. Rather than selling the obsolete rotten TD 2650 engine of yesterdecade.
If you do off roading 24x7 the Gurkha is the winner but if you need something which is at home in the city , highways and has decent off road capabilities for the weekends the thar wins. Thar is just an easier car to live with.
A 2 lir A45s will give 400 hp. But it's not about it. The more stressed the engine, the lower it's lifespan. Force builds engines for carriers, ambulances etc.. which can run days with minimal breaks. Let me clarify you sir:- gurkha is not less behind in power. The thing is gurkha2.6 fm cr engine is the one used in their traveller 26,21, seators and also in their cruiser which is used for commercial purpose. The engines make a low end torque with which the engine pulls 26-30 people and 1500-2000 kgs of luggage with all ease, which i dont think the mhawk engine will ever be able to. Their's a difference in low end torque engines like that used in Gurkha. The problem though is that gurkha having the same 2.6 fmcr engine required a new gearbox and little bit of ecu and turbo tuning which then i think it will be able to pull the power figure to 350nm, and 150-200bhp powers, but that requires complete reinforcement and engineering, which i think force motors always lacks. They never tries to make changes and uses the same things used in their commercial vehicles. Though this engine is very reliable and can run 4-5lakh kms with ease with no problem!!(if given services and proper use)
