Pro mods are the fastest doorslammer cars out there and gues what....... They all run auto.
Know why? Because a manual is too inconsistent and would slow them by tenths. In drag racing, every tenth of a second counts

The fact that you label that it's a manual is such a shame... That's because no one can drive their cars down the track anymore, they let automatic transmissions do it for them. Motor sports is requiring less and less skill as the years go by, what a shame... Automatics are killing this sport, it's no longer about the driver. Who cares if autos are a bit after, I rather keep the tradition and the requirement for the skill alive.

I don't see how they kill the sport. Still at the end of the day the fastest car normally wins. I would prefer manual transmission. But anything faster than this for sure auto.
Racing is still racing at the end of the day. Of course it's harder to do in a manual. Yes that makes it fun for the driver. The fans want to see good races, autos being so consistent you get better racing if anything.

i think it's really because of these manual transmissions prices, see when you get to power like that you need the top of the top, rpm transmission sells their stage 4 T-56 for $4000 and things still can brake. so you get a built auto trans for a decent price and don't really have to worry about it blowing as much as a manual
automatics have been used in drag racing since the beginning of the sport my friend,i prefer the stick but if you are serious into class racing you need a built glide and you can tame 3-4 thousand horsepower.trust me the cars dont drive themselves even with an auto.wherever you got that idea its total bullshit.

I was surprised to see that MPH too after seeing the previous runs. I seen the parachute and thought he'd do better than 150mph.

Let's examine the claims. 700 horsepower. 3250 pounds. Almost 165 MPH traps speeds on last pass. Some ting wong. It obviously ran the number so either the claimed weight or the claimed power is way off.

"Any idea on power?" Eh, it made around 700RWHP on the dyno, that's about as far as we twisted it..... So they twisted it to ~4800RPM, thereabouts! Bwahaha. Also cool to hear him say it has a Tremec T56 Magnum 6spd., nothing really exotic/expensive. Is this the fastest stick-shifted Magnum car?
68Swiftshifter Probably one of the fastest. I know there's a turbo 331 fox with a Viper spec T56 running ~900 whp and it's done low 8s. Not a whole lot of synchro manuals in the 8 second or faster territory.

Got a video of this fox running an 8.9 at atlanta street car takeover, i love this car and plan on a similar setup except with a centrifugal blower instead of turbo, my fox is only 2500-2600lbs so should be interesting how fast it goes

LOL....sweet. Nice sand-bagging on the first runs, I was like 8.98 @ "only" 138? Uncorked it on the last run though (even with the poor launch) - 164.51mph. That is hauling!

I was actually thinking the opposite. The upper 130's - low 140 traps seemed low for a stick shift car running high 8's.

Love this car , I've been waiting to get a notch back fox body for a while now . I ride dirt bikes and my 07 gsxr 750 at the road race track . When my son is off on his own I know what my new born kid is going to be , A FOX BODY !!!! Still have to wait 5 more years .
That's what I hate about the argument of automatic versus manual. Automatic you're just showing all of what the car can do 100% with manual it's showing what the car can do and how talented you are with shifting.

top end of the track was junk and couldn't get the power in, the driver had to lift, hence the low mph.

I like how they said it was 3200 that shit is like 2700 at best. Stock full interior GT's were 3200.
turbo itself is 40 plus pounds not to mention its a street car with full interior, cage, and full exhaust. The battery is still in the stock location under the hood. What would make this car come in at 2700? if anything its right at stock weight..

Those little 5 liter coupes were pocket rockets ! (ugly) But who cares! I blew doors of Camaros on a regular basis with mine back in the late 80's - I special ordered it and DELETED EVERYTHING! No A/C, no radio, no rear defrost. Damn it was fast! The kid I sold it to totaled it in 8 days.
