This one is actually a sequel to another game called Denjin Makai (in fact I believe it's called Denjin Makai II in Japan), which is also awesome. Denjin Makai has a slightly cut down port for the SNES if you're interested. Also you didn't mention one of the coolest features about it (also in Denjin Makai), combo attacks! If you have a coop partner, you can team up and do special attacks! It's awesome
I like your style and energy. Great videos. This one in particular had me chuckling and I laughed out loud with unrestrained mutual excitement at your spazzing over the grapples. I am right there with you, brother. LOL They just don't make them like they used to.
Damn you missed the secret move, while you jump press jump again plus attack, you get a diagonal slash attack. Also the name of the game is known as Denjinmakai II , the first one is good too but slower just two buttons less moves.
You wanna know the best part about Guardians/Denjin Makai 2? The game isn't even finished and it's still better than the vast majority of Beat 'em Ups! From my understanding, the devs weren't able to fully complete it but what they had was complete enough that they didn't want it to go to waste. This explains why the sound design seems unfinished and probably explains the soundtrack as well (though I personally really like the music). This game is my second favorite Beat 'em Up, with only Guilty Gear Judgement beating it.
I wonder if that also explains why there's no plot whatsoever (not that a beat'em up needs one). Yo, I love GG Judgement, that games slaps! Thanks for watching 👍
@@35infinite Yeah the plot as well since the first game had a few story bits that have gone unanswered. Two characters don't return for some reason (Iyo and the titular character Makai as well) and the final boss of the first game Girulian is both present and playable despite being caught in the destruction of his tower at the end of the first game, so if the game had been finished, I believe those questions would have been answered.
@@willdiesel8431 If there were any, I haven't seen any of it on the Internet. With how good DM2 is though, we most likely would have seen a third game. Banpresto (the publisher) ran into some financial issues a couple years after DM2 came out and Winkysoft (the developer) has been defunct since about 2015, so unless some Rushing Beat X levels of "What the absolute f***, this is getting another sequel before Final Fight?!" happens, it probably won't happen. There's a number of things they could work with to make the plot of the 3rd game as well, if Makai and Iyo's absence were planned from the beginning then the 3rd game could have been about them. There's also Skullbyule who seems to be similar to Zeldia since she looked similar to him in the first game and we could have seen his "hatched" form in the 3rd game like we saw Zeldia's "hatched" form in her ending in the first game. Or, it could have gone the Double Dragon route and have the 3rd game be a 1v1 only fighting game which would be unfortunate because it would have to deal with a lot more competition while also losing the fans (like me) who prefer beat 'em ups over fighting games.

Well, but the game is actually the second part of Denjin Makai, known as Ghost Chaser in Super Famicom, that version has been translated by the fans. Regarding the special moves, the characters also have a desperation move, Kurokishi's is run, up, down, forward and you release the attack button, her bar has to be flashing. And about other games I don't know if you know a game made by fans, it's called Final Fight LNS Ultimate, it's for Openbor, it has fighting game type mechanics, with a lot of juggle combos, cancels and super cancels and the roster has a lot of Capcom characters, maybe you might like it.
