lmaooo the way you recommended bones to the wind before your own book, I screamed 😂 my favoeite part that you mentioned was that if there are two characters in a scene together, there should be tension!! because they shoud want different things!! even if they're on the same side!!! 🧡🧡🧡

😂 Look, I stan Tatiana and her books lol. I will always shout about them to anyone who will listen lol. And yes! We gotta keep scenes moving, otherwise we get conversations and scenes that just don't need to be had, you know?

Yes, very true. Everyone can’t wait for 100 pages for a story to pick up (except me because I hate dnf’ing)
Great pacing - Sign of the Slayer by Sharina Harris. The opening chapter and narrative voice had me on page 1. Very hard to put down!

I am the DNF Queen lol. I will put a book down the moment I lose interest. I am the audience you have to fight for 😂
Life is just too short to read books I don't like. There are too many great books out there to be read. But I've heard of Sign of the Slayer! I'll give it another peek if you say the pacing is actually really good 👀

I think some books are great at starting with action. Perhaps it was because it is a part of a series. I think it can be fun especially when we are in the main character's head.
    Great advice.

Agreed! I definitely prefer a book that starts with action. But even if it's not a fight scene, I prefer to have something *happening*, you know?

HOOK them with the first LINE and watch em SINK into the story. The average book is so forgettable. I want to be slapped in the face with humor or action or romance...on every page. Give me the drama and conflict. I write each chapter of my future best seller like they are books within a book. You're very knowledgeable and I share in all your observations.
    Twin...where have you been?

See, YOU GET IT! I'm glad. Because yes. Every chapter should be treated as if you're fighting to keep your reader glued to their seat. Even if it's not a thriller, the reader should be entertained. They should have emotions and wonder what's coming on the next page. Because, as you said, the average book is forgettable and part of that is due to how much "grace" you have to give the book to warm up and get to the good parts. In my opinion, books should take off running from the first page and keep going.
