Had this condition for about 5 days now. Woke up this morning at 1 AM due to the pain in my finger. Thought it was in ingrown nail but that didn't make sense because I take very good care of my nails. While searching for how to fix an ingrown toenail I came across this video. This was exactly what I was experiencing. I followed the directions and it worked perfectly. Pus came out. Much less pain now. I'm going back to bed. Thank you for posting this video.
For anyone with a child who has acute paronychia, THIS is the video to watch. It's just practical, no frills and re-assuring. I had my son's school phoning saying that his thumb was infected, he needed urgent medical treatment and anti-biotics. My son didn't bother to mention that he is constantly chewing and biting down his nails. Anyway, I followed this video to the letter, stayed calm and guess what, IT WORKED! Thank you DFTB for telling it how it is. You're fab! x
I'm an adult who has gotten for the first time and I feel the same way 😂.. I was quite nervous last night as it woke me at 3 am.. then I took some advil and slept with my fist clenched and it actually helped with the immense pressure .. today not as bad feeling but I assume I'll have to pop it soon so just biding my time and trying to psych myself up for a needle jab! Haha
Thank you for this. I just did this step by step to my thumb. Seeing that pus shoot out was so weirdly satisfying lol. The thumb is still sore and draining a bit but the pain level just went down abt 70%.
This saved me a trip to the ER! I was in so much pain & it was just a tiny bit of pus. The pressure is a lot better & I didn't even realize the pus was there! I'll remember this next time
Thank god for this video, I got an infection on my ring finger and it became incredibly painful in a short period of time. I was awake all night until I found this video and drained the pus. I was able to sleep after with minimal pain compared to what I was going through before went from a constant 7/10 to a throbbing 2/10. I recommend soaking your finger in pretty hot salt water to loosen the skin. I used a toothpick to pry open and make a tiny hole. After I drained as much as I could I put antibacterial cream and a bandage on it. This video was a lifesaver for me.
I’m 14 and just drained mine after removing a hangnail! it feels so much better and way less painful :3. I’ll update! Trust me it is not painful AT ALL. until you squeeze the pus! :p What I used - sharp nail clipper - warm water - Vaseline/antibiotic cream - bandage. - hand sanitizer / alcohol wipe for finger.
Day 1: I woke up to get ready for school and I feel no pain at all! I took my bandage off cleaned my hand and reapplied. It’s still a little bit swollen but the swelling and redness has went down a lot! Day 2 no pain or swelling/redness at ALL my finger is back to normal! But I’m gonna make sure to still keep the area clean for a week.
Same case bro plzz undastood me step by step and you do this in home or doctor do this plzz replay me fast I am in tension because this is the reesone of tetnas or not I don't no plzz replay me fast plzzzz😢😢
@@VIRALCOMMENTSISHAREwarm water & soak finger in that for 10 minutes , then take a nail cutter & separate layers of skin & then put pressure to squeeze the pus out & then it's done put a antibiotic cream after that
I’m so thankful for finding this video! After being kept up all night by throbbing pain in my finger/cuticle and knowing I needed to release the pressure, I followed your video and thankfully had everything I needed to safely drain the pus. I’m feeling instant relief! Throbbing and swelling has vanquished!! Thank you again!🙏🏼
Thank you so much for this video! No incision needed, just a separation from nail and skin, and placed a bit of pressure on the pus. It all oozed out eventually :) here I was fearing having a doctor doin it
Good advice! In my case I didn’t even need to separate the skin and nail. After soaking my finger in warm water for 5-10 minutes the pus started to slowly come out and drain on its own.
Well, I did it and then I just cleaned it with tap water, and now I got there tap water instead of pus. Should I use the same procces to get the water out?
@brumbor9940 not gonna lie I'm nobody but tap water isn't ideal with all the crap in it.. I would just as well use a bottle of water heated up. Or at least boil the water from the tap.. let it cool a bit then go at it.. tap water could really do damage on its own if not properly boiled
Great video! Soaked my finger in warm/hot water for ten minutes. Carefully separated the nail from the skin, did not go deep into skin/nail at all, as soon as I did puss started to gush out. Instant relief still a bit tender. Cleaned the area and needle with alcohol wipes.
I just kept gently pressing and rubbing the swollen area towards what looked like a weak spot and I was gonna give up and use a needle cause the pain was too annoying after about 5 days but then it just started draining. A little sore still but hopefully itll be back to normal in a day or 2. Definitely a wake up call to stop biting my nails at 26
Personal process: Day 1: Bit the skin around my nail and it got infected. After a week of painful swelling, I decided to take antibiotics a few days ago, but it kept filling with pus. Gently drained it as explained in the video and cleaned the finger with oxygenated water and disinfectant, before applying a bandaid. Currently still on antibiotics.
OMG I’ve struggled in pain for 10 days finally stumbled on this video. Did the procedure myself in a few mins and it wasn't painful the relief was instant! Thank you sooooo much!
After squeezing pus from area, I recommend soaking in a saturation of Epsom salts and water a few times a day...when I have soaked a wound I heat the water to streaming and then keep adding the Epsom salts until saturated and then begin soaking when the mix is tolerable... soak 15-20 minutes 3-4 times a day... after a few days any infection etc should be cleared up...
THANK YOUUU, I used to just stab something Sharp inside my nail and drain it and it was painful, I didn’t know I could peel away layers, I did that I didn’t even think I was peeling away anything, but pus just started coming out and I was like “what- I didn’t feel anything?” And I’m all good now, this video is amazing ❤❤
Hi. I recently got paronychia on my ring finger from biting my nails too deep. I did what you said in the video and tiny pus came out but my finger still looks swollen. The pain has decreased majorly since I used to feel some type of "heartbeat" (it's just some internal throbbing) inside the finger but I'm not sure if the swelling should go down immediately. Is it normal if I've pushed all the pus and nothing comes out but my finger still looks a little blue? Because if no, does that mean I still have some pus in my finger or is the swelling just going to take time and decrease? Edit: My paronychia did not go away. My finger is still in some way 'breathing' still and the pain is still here.
Thank you! I'm a grown azz man and never had thus before until now.. and it actually woke me up last night it was so painful.. not as bad now, but it's good to know it's a fairly easy thing to fix if it continues to get worse.. I'll assume I may have to do this either way.. but figured I'd wait one more day just in case it settles on its own ❤❤❤
@freespeechordie2252 yep sure did.. It got big enough I was nervous I'd have to go to the hospital and that wasn't happening.. putting something under the cuticle is so much easier than it sounds.. then you gotta dig around for a few seconds before anything really comes out.. the hard part is just squeezing for a bit, that hurts.. but otherwise It went very smooth.. only observation x months later,, that my nail is actually raised a bit, like I've seen others like this before but never happened to me.. like the infection raised my nail bed a bit and made my nail unlevel.. it's not a big deal haha but something my overanalytic brain always thinks about 🤣🤣
@freespeechordie2252 just make sure you sterilize ! You'll do fine. Initially breaking the skin to nail spot feels like it's gonna be brutal, but you barely feel it.. once you do it initially it's easy.. you got this!!👊❤️
This straight-up worked! Just the soaking in hot water was enough to make mine drain. This thing was surprisingly painful. I guess that's why they used to flay people's fingers as a manner of torture.
All I’m gonna say after a week of losing my mind is thank you so much for making this video. This is the first time this has ever happened to me and the pain was driving me insane
Did it work? I got one on my big toe and I got prescribed and antibiotic from urgent care(didn’t do shit) and I went to make an appointment for a podiatrist and shit is over a month away
I read about this and watched some videos on what it is and how it could be treated, all stuff is something to do with cutting it open and painful. i mean it is going to be painful but this video helps it in being less painful. And Guys if someone is reading this comment - dip your finger in warm water.
yall... this 100% WORKEDDDDDD. i just got it again after years i was dreading having to poke it w a hot needle ... but this riiii here worked GREATTTT. i used cuticle cutters to separate the skin.
Thank you oh my god, I just finished and I am so relived. It had been going on for a about a week or more and today I couldn’t bare it at work. It worked even though I was doubtful at first it did work.
I have had the worst experience with a parynochia. Started in May drained twice at urgent care and ER . Tried 4 different antibiotics then had to have an orthopedic doctor debride the finger. Six weeks of a pic line with intravenous antibiotics. After just starting this Developed C diff infection and landed in the hospital and still continued IV antibiotics and treatment for the C diff. 2 months of oral antibiotics ended Halloween. The finger seemed sore and I kept going back to the doctor to check. The finger swelled and abcessed again. The best treatment was amputation😢😢. 10 days out now. Just relaying an experience which is certainly a very rare occurrence. Strangely all the cultures showed a light growth of bacteria. It had gone into the bone causing osteomyelitis. I am 79 so that is a plus in this situation.
Works perfectly. Separating the skin in my index finger took a little bit more pressure pushing then I thought it would after soaking in warm water for 15 minutes. Clean with soap and water and also add antiobltic after just to be safe. It will be sore for most of the day but will notice the next day is way better.
This video saved me 10 out of 10 my original plan was ointment until it got better or go to a hospital. Did everything she said and instantly felt better after 5 minutes
Just drained my third. I just jab a clean toothpick under the layer and lift. First time i had it i waited for it to pop, today and last time i just said "forget that" and did it myself. Much better
@Pixelcakes69 yeah just tried using a safety pin .. didn't have a toothpick handy.. didn't get it all and didn't want to force it yet . Will try again tomorrow probably with toothpick
Been taking Bactrim and it’s still swollen. I tried this and then when it didn’t work I tried stabbing it with a knife/needle that was sterilized. I just bled a lot and no sign of any pus anymore. Why would the hangnail be swollen up if the pus is gone?
Omg yes I did it thankyou! My thumb is still quite lumpy though and looks like it has puss in still but I squeezed it until loads of blood came out. Is this normal? It still hurts a bit though
Just thank you ❤️ saved a visit to the GP especially with a bank holiday and ridiculous pain and swelling! Hot water helped massively to open up the layers and had to take a brave pill to push out the pus Washed with antiseptic and dressed with some gauze and hoping all goes well now Again - thank you!
This worked flawlessly! I used one side of some tweasers to just slowly keep pushing it back, it didnt hurt too much tbh - I soaked for about 25 minutes in hot water so the skin was super wrinkled etc... Made it super easy - Good luck folks, its worth doing - instant relief!!!!!!
I'm starting a new job soon and this just happened I need to get it better ASAP as I use my hands alot but the slightest touch of this is totally killing me thanks for your vid hope this works
Update following instructions left in water picked away slowly ..nothing put back in water for another 10 mins picked away again ..nothing was about to give up tried squeezing slowly and seen a little dot of white crap appear a bigger squeeze and I think I got it all out it still hurts but not as much cleaned up anti septic on it and a bandage thank you
i developed this for first time had pain a week ago seemed to get infected and started developing yellow/green pus a few days ago and just thought it was becoming discolored. Well I must’ve banged it working today and noticed boogery crust on finger nail and pus coming out of my finger so I just began squeezing draining it out like a zit or boil. Got home later put peroxide and a little antibiotic oitment for good measure. Read up on how you need a doctor to drain it for you, lol. Don’t see the point just want your insurance or take your money, plus mine was flat tiny just turning green.
So true!!😂😂 everyone says go to doctor.. I'm like.. naaahh how can I handle this on my own! Thank God for awesome people like this woman !! Brilliant!❤❤
It’s 1:30am and my finger was hurting like heck. Decided to google what it could be. Stumbled on a few videos, but this one resonated with me the most. Followed the steps and in like 5 scraps(used a razor blade) pop and the puss came out. I sucked it up (figure of speech) and squeezed like heck to get as much out. Finger feels soooo much better now. It got so bad my other fingers by the affected one were feeling the pain also. Don’t know how to explain. Now just a soreness but I can go asleep now. Thanx for this method.
I just took a small needle on my finger made a gentle poke into it then gently squeezed that place with my other hand and pus surely came out. Hate having that infection, always the same darn finger 😢
I had a nail infection several weeks ago. I took some antibiotics, the finger healed but I still feel pain in my hand and the whole arm, along with a burning sensation in my aram and chest. Don't know how to deal with this or what kind of specialist I should see. PS : I RUN Some tests and concluded their is no infection in my bloodstream
I know it's been 3 months, so I'm praying you're better today but can you update? Sounds like it was your body fighting the infection, but quite honestly your description is a bit scary like it was a heart attack.. my guess, you had a panic attack though. You felt the pain from the finger go to the hand.. and it mentally spread to where you has a tough time getting rid of the feeling.. anyway ❤❤ hope you're at 100% today !
@michaelvalentine3245 I can tell you it helped me doing it the way she says in the video. However my nail bed raised a little so now my nail has a slight bump in it which mentally has made me nuts haha but she really helped a lot
@@johnlombardo7816I'm terrible wth still biting my nails at times and I had an infected hang nail. The paranychia healed on its own but my actual nail became a bit mishappen. I’m 11 and I got this it started a day ago and it hurt but I thought maybe I cut my self or it was clif piece of skin but after a day I realized it was green. I actually began to panic because a while ago I watched a video saying like someone was biting their fingernails so much and then one day they just had green green circle on their finger and I remembered that video and it said they died because they didn’t take care of it and I was so afraid so I went on Google and I search it up and it said that like you can die from it in my heart saying cause I can’t die at 11 years Old told me what it is so I was like OK I’m not gonna die. It’s OK but I really did not want to tell my mom because my mom is always telling me stop biting your nails stop biting your nails, but I never stopped so I finally decided to search it up because I finally knew what it is and I realized I won’t die andcan only die if I leave it forever and ever, but this process was really easy and it worked. I just want to say thank you for reassuring me that I will not die.
you can usually feel it onset in it’s early stages. best time to apply some polysporin triple action, sleep it out and it’ll heal over night and it won’t get to this point.
I did this and got some pus out but it looks like I’ve got another area where there’s pus but I can’t get it to it 😭 no relief at all if anything my finger hurts more now 😩
After four weeks of a painful finger and failed oral antibiotics, it finally spontaneously opened and drained while I was in the shower. I pressed all the remaining pus out, trimmed the dead skin on top with disinfected nail clippers and applied antibiotic cream and bandage. Looks and feels much better and hopefully will heal up quickly.
I think this could work for me but i have now have a tiny puss pocket under the nail. not sure if it connects to the one on the side or not. how do i deal with that one
@@ancient_anime9993 I had went back in and tried to poke a hole in a different area. I warmed up my finger by soaking it in salt water to soften the skin. I finally got tons of pus out and it felt sooo much better. It's finally fully healed but it was sooo painful
i wwnt to the bathroom and used a clean sharp mechanical pencil plastic to slightly pop it. the skin next to my nail was light green and after i popped it, it was less green
Gonna try this tomorrow except it’s not my finger it’s my big toe. Cuticle has been swollen and red for weeks. Doctor just keeps giving me different prescriptions 🙄
Sadly chances are they probably reinfected it! Darn doctors! Stay away unless you absolutely need them! Try alternative methods where possible YT is actually pretty great for that honestly
I pulled a hangnail so there red skin showing and on some of the bed nail had come off. I tried soaking it water and some pus came out but just a tiny bit. I tried to get the pus out with a needle but I can’t seem to separate the layers and it hurts so bad

i had paronyochia o my right thumb after i removed the pus it stills hurts so much and is still super swollen and now it hurts like down the thumb more and when i try to remove more pus its just blood.
I had THE EXACT SITUATION a few minutes ago. My thumb is still a little red and tender and swollen....and I had some pain around the base of my thumb. I squeezed as much gunk out as I could but then I just soaked the digit in warm water then cleaned the area. Abt thirty minutes has gone by since I popped the little abscess and abt 70% of the pain is gone, even at the base of my thumb.

Been taking Bactrim and it’s still swollen. I tried this and then when it didn’t work I tried stabbing it with a knife/needle that was sterilized. I just bled a lot and no sign of any pus anymore. Why would the hangnail be swollen up if the pus is gone?
Omg yes I did it thankyou! My thumb is still quite lumpy though and looks like it has puss in still but I squeezed it until loads of blood came out. Is this normal? It still hurts a bit though
I just did mine and same as you it's still swollen and feels like there could be more in there. Do you remember how it went for you?
Great video but what if he puss is also on under side of my thumb. Will puss come out below the nail as well?
same
you are a legend!!! it works with no pain
Just thank you ❤️ saved a visit to the GP especially with a bank holiday and ridiculous pain and swelling!
Hot water helped massively to open up the layers and had to take a brave pill to push out the pus
Washed with antiseptic and dressed with some gauze and hoping all goes well now
Again - thank you!
This was so informative and worked; many thanks!
Thank You so much. Soaking, gently separating, then squeezing worked like a charm! THANK YOU!!!😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Excellent video! Very helpful. Thank you!
I'm starting a new job soon and this just happened I need to get it better ASAP as I use my hands alot but the slightest touch of this is totally killing me thanks for your vid hope this works
Update following instructions left in water picked away slowly ..nothing put back in water for another 10 mins picked away again ..nothing was about to give up tried squeezing slowly and seen a little dot of white crap appear a bigger squeeze and I think I got it all out it still hurts but not as much cleaned up anti septic on it and a bandage thank you
@@buddymacbuddingtonhow long did it take to heal?
i developed this for first time had pain a week ago seemed to get infected and started developing yellow/green pus a few days ago and just thought it was becoming discolored.
Just don't use peroxide. It actually destroys healthy tissue. Just clean wth soap and water..... good job though!
This worked, hard part was loosening the skin around the nail. How satisfying was it when that puss came out!! Thank you
This is exactly what I needed. Thanks so much!!!!
Does this cure it?
@@ratpuppet2843 It did along with taking antibiotic med for a week
@@ratpuppet2843 its more about how acute you have it, for me it drained out after 5-10 mins in warm water
How are u now???
@michaelvalentine3245 I can tell you it helped me doing it the way she says in the video. However my nail bed raised a little so now my nail has a slight bump in it which mentally has made me nuts haha but she really helped a lot
@@johnlombardo7816 good to hear that 😀
@@johnlombardo7816I'm terrible wth still biting my nails at times and I had an infected hang nail. The paranychia healed on its own but my actual nail became a bit mishappen. It took abt a month for the nail bump to grow out but my finger and nailed are back to normal. Just keep the area clean and be patient.
I did this and got some pus out but it looks like I’ve got another area where there’s pus but I can’t get it to it 😭 no relief at all if anything my finger hurts more now 😩
Hey Doctor! I had a drainage of a little bit of water as well. Can you explain. Was it wrong for me to use a compass?
Compass sounds brilliant just make sure doesn’t get infected by applying bandage.
IMPORTANT: doesn't patient have nail melanoma in 26s? Was it checked?
After four weeks of a painful finger and failed oral antibiotics, it finally spontaneously opened and drained while I was in the shower. I pressed all the remaining pus out, trimmed the dead skin on top with disinfected nail clippers and applied antibiotic cream and bandage. Looks and feels much better and hopefully will heal up quickly.
The pus came off clean, thanks for this. Now I will watch as the pain and swelling will subside
Amazing, exactly what I was looking for.
I'm watching this while having paronychia.
Thank you! How do I get that other video your talking about? I can't find it in the comments below
I finally got mine to drain... I feel so much better
This was very helpful. Thank you.
I got one on my thumbnail it's sore and swollen. That looks like it'll hurt ....I don't do well with pain....
Dad took a knife it hurt like hell
Thank you. You saved my finger ❤️
This was really helpful. Thanks a lot.
My daughter need this treatment. How we can get this treatment.
I think this could work for me but i have now have a tiny puss pocket under the nail. not sure if it connects to the one on the side or not. how do i deal with that one
Awesome video 🤙 just done this.
Once the puss is out do i need to drain it again later ?
Did u find the answer
I’ve never had this. How do people get it?
Thanks I randomly got it out of nowhere and still have no idea how it happened but I know what to do now
Same it hurts like hell
I drained mine but it's so swollen and red still but I can't get anymore pus out. What do I do? I'm miserable it hurts so bad
Update?
@@ancient_anime9993 I had went back in and tried to poke a hole in a different area. I warmed up my finger by soaking it in salt water to soften the skin. I finally got tons of pus out and it felt sooo much better. It's finally fully healed but it was sooo painful
i wwnt to the bathroom and used a clean sharp mechanical pencil plastic to slightly pop it. the skin next to my nail was light green and after i popped it, it was less green
Can i apply iodine afterwards?
I am hurting now. I may go and get a kit to drain mine. It hurts to bad
Gonna try this tomorrow except it’s not my finger it’s my big toe. Cuticle has been swollen and red for weeks. Doctor just keeps giving me different prescriptions 🙄
thankyou so much this was very helpful, I was about to cut my own skin before watching this video
Me too!
@@johnlombardo7816me three
Excellent explanation. Thanks.
Somehow every time I have a Paronychiaits always on the finger next to the pinkie or the middle finger
Very helpful. Thanks!
Thanks for your help!
I went to the doctor. The doctor removed the pus without stun. Its grown back again …. Is this normal??
same
Sadly chances are they probably reinfected it! Darn doctors! Stay away unless you absolutely need them! Try alternative methods where possible YT is actually pretty great for that honestly
wish me luck everyone, you will experience time travel as I'll notify you of my update in the reply when I'm done :))
it has completely healed! I just used sewing needle, alcohol, warm water and aftercare in the form of healing ointment
Any new home treatment ?
We call that a wit low. Clipping nails catching the skin will result in a white low.
Thank you! U are the best!
I pulled a hangnail so there red skin showing and on some of the bed nail had come off. I tried soaking it water and some pus came out but just a tiny bit. I tried to get the pus out with a needle but I can’t seem to separate the layers and it hurts so bad
Take ibuprofen for the pain.
Is thi pus always visible or can it be hidden?
I’ve had paronychia for months like acute paronychia an it’s switching from different fingers I’m just gonna have to go into doctor an get antibiotics for it. I know how I got it from my last job as a housekeeper caused it cause I never had this problem before then.
Thank you so much!
i had paronyochia o my right thumb after i removed the pus it stills hurts so much and is still super swollen and now it hurts like down the thumb more and when i try to remove more pus its just blood.
Thank you so much 🙌🏾
Welp I tried, and i woosed out casue of the self inflicted pain i just couldnt do it... off to see the urgent care
glad I found this, i just hope i pushed all the pus out, I used a toothpick thanks to someone in the comments
Paranochia strikes deep. Into your nail it will creep.
Helpful video!
Really helpful 😃
I get them like every other week and it makes day to day life almost impossible loll
