Drummers , AGAIN .... are the Best , the coolest Hangs. Thank you Herr Lang for having the Passion and Humility to share your Love and Respect for the Legend like Terry and Billy who learned from Louie and others. and here we are in Awe. So cool to see Charlie sharing his parts.
@@gringochucha Charlie was always a better drummer or at least more nuanced and proficient than Lombardo ever was. In the beginning Lombardo was not as proficient as he became on his late 90’s to mid 2000’s stint with Slayer. Kerry King stated he was surprised how much Dave’s drumming improved.
@@Assimilator702 Kerry King is full of shit. Slayer wouldn't have been as big without Lombardo's huge drum sound and groove. Not hating on Benante, but there's a reason Lombardo is probably the most influential drummer in modern metal.
The thing about Terry for me that makes him so great is his creativity. He is a real artist. And of course the chops are there to take it all to another level.
Man I love listening to a nice Missing Persons live concert from the early 80’s in a nice pair of headphones, close my eyes and day dream I’m there. I was much too young in even 1983 to be going to concerts. I can imagine the energy at those early L.A. shows. I can feel it in the live recordings.
@@Assimilator702 Thanks for commenting. Have you seen Missing Persons at the 1983 US Festival on yootoob? It's their whole show, the same set I saw in 1982, absolutely great. I was among 30-40 people in the parking lot when their tour bus arrived the first time I saw them. The band got off wearing identical dusters but wouldn't look at or acknowledge any of us when called by name. I didn't let such arrogance spoil my day. We pushed open a fire door at the venue and watched their soundcheck and I started having doubts. They played most of their set, uninspired, lackluster with zero energy. That all changed five hours later when they took the stage with a full house on their feet cheering. My first concert was Zeppelin in 1969---by 1982 I'd been going to concerts for almost a quarter century, had seen everybody (Floyd, Hendrix, Stones, Doors, Rush, Mahavishnu, all the San Francisco bands, et al) but Missing Persons were as good as the very best of them. Saw them a second time with Bozzio on his electronic kit for the Rhyme & Reason tour and that wasn't nearly as exciting. The third time was Dale Bozzio touring as Missing Persons with none of the original band. My wife, never a fan of my drumming, told me halfway through the show "you're better than that guy." Damned with faint praise...lol. If you've not seen that US Festival concert I recommend it, also look for just Walking In LA by itself at the same Festival because there's a different camera angle showing Bozzio playing a mammoth lick you only hear but don't see on the whole concert video. You'll know it when you see it!
@@DAGDRUM53 I’ve seen 1983 US Festival. I’ll have to look for that other one but I probably have it in a playlist. I have Lazy Days Crazy Nights which is a live set from either 82 or 83 at a club in LA released around 2007 and it’s straight off the sound board. One of the best live recordings I’ve ever heard and Missing Persons is no where near my favorite band.
@@Assimilator702 MP isn't my favorite band either but Bozzio is one of my favorites drummers. I have Late Nights Early Days too, that's what you meant, didn't you? Tesla does LDCN.
@@DAGDRUM53 Yes Late Nights Early Days. That’s the one. That recording on a nice of iems or headphones puts you right near the soundboard and it’s just heaven. The band is absolutely on fire during that set and it shows even music that isn’t aggressive per se the musicianship can be as fierce as an extreme Metal band. Tesla is one of favorite bands. Great band that aged very well unlike many of the 80’s acts.
LOVE all the clips and the playing is just so incredible. The thing that instantly stood out to me was the first clip of the show. Hearing Terry play with more traditional cymbals was so refreshing!!!! I just do not care for the Radia sound outside of his solo drumming performances. I was so lucky to see him with the reunited U.K. in Chicago before the official reunion tour started. The band was so good, but those darn cymbals just didn't work in my opinion. Nothing sustained past the "white noise" and big moments just weren't the same. My personal take. But amazing performances and it looked like they were having so much fun together as they listened.
I've noticed in all the Drum channel videos Terry is chewing gum. Please tell him it's bad for your mouth to do this unless briefly after eating. Look it up.

@@mgcuniverse9037 Saw an outdoor Bozzio clinic in 1998 close to my job, went over right after work to watch the soundcheck. Before getting behind his drums to work with the soundman Terry chatted with us early birds. When he thought no one was looking he surreptitiously threw something on the ground, reached into his coat pocket and put something in his mouth. Curious, I looked to see what it was. Great conversations. That passion and humility between all these al star drummers is so awe inspiring.

I'm loving these Bozzio deep dives particularly about his kit and UK.
I love what Raanen said about Charlie’s drumming. 100% agree, Charlie was on a whole different level than the other thrash guys.
Than Lombardo?
@@gringochucha yes! Far beyond Lombardo. No disrespect to Lombardo at all, he’s good at what he does. Charlie is far more tasteful IMO.

In January 1982 I saw Missing Persons and Bozzio's animated drumming changed my life, impressed me more than Cobham & Tony.
