Once you get in to the game you’ll naturally start buying Mantic’s miniatures, but they’re 1/3rd the cost of other manufacturers, and in the meantime you can play without any cost at all. We love it!
This is the sort of thing GW would encourage people back in the earliest days of Rogue Trader and even 2nd edition. Hell, I remember seeing the cardboard fold up stand in for predator tanks and such.
Total blast guys! Ya'll are clearly having a blast. Just as an idea. I love testing lists with cardboard bases with paper miniatures on just to make it visually more interesting i think ya'll would enjoy it until you get proper painted armies on the table. Cheers!
Latch here; thanks for the encouragement. I found I really liked the stat line in the plastic Units, but they’re hard to pick up and you’re right that it does need something to improve the look. Maybe there’s a whole episode applying some epoxy modelling clay; how hard can Earth Elementals be?
Tom here, Absolutely, we will probably try a couple of different sets for Latch until we figure out which archetypes he likes. It’s relatively easy to get a hold of high-quality cards made of plastic paper here in Japan at the hundred yen store. In some ways, it’s easier than getting cardboard. I may also introduce you to UB to give you another tool for list testing.
It is wonderful that the KoW allows this kind of ingenuity.
This is good for inviting friends who don't want to spend money on miniature games.
