2:28 Love it that you’re still using the 6th Edition Vampire Counts Army Book! What a beautiful army, makes me pine for the classic undead of Warhammer Fantasy!
I’ve literally just started an empire army! Never played fantasy and always been 40/30k, just painted up my first minis! Absolutely loving the lore of the old world
> Playing Vampire Counts. "I want to win, but that won't be easy. Why? Because Trent is bringing Daemons." I love that I immediately recognised the problem, even though I haven't picked up a miniature in 20 years lol.
Thx for taking me back to my teens with my old army of choice… I used to roll classic undead until VC was released, and I must confess that you have collected my dream army 20+ years later… good effort👍🏻
OMG, more inspiration for my custom Stalian army. Your video about Bretonnia was a big inspiration for me. I did a full Bretonnian army with over 130 figures, following the rule of cool for the heraldry of course...
Dude. I haven't even watched the full video yet, just skimmed it, and I just have to make an excited comment about how awesome this whole package is. The painting, the models, the scenery. I've loved Undead since the 90s and this definitely hit my nostalgia button in the best way. Fantastic.
Thank you, its great to be able to frame up shots that are immersive in the fore, middle and background. Its taken a while to build up but now i have a very high power level for this sort of thing! Stay tuned
Superb work! Those shots of the army with the scenery behind are awesome. About as close to the 6th edition army book aesthetic as you can get. Looking forward to the battle!
This and your Bretonnian jousting video are some of my favourites of any creator from the last few years. Thank you for allowing me to relive some really nostalgic times! I look forward to the following video!
2:40 Pink Horrors, wave your hands in the air, like you just don't care! 4:00 That vampire's armour is super cool. Thanks for sharing your army. I'm looking forward to next episode.
I can’t stop occasionally rewatching this video. It genuinely feels like it’s just your friend telling you about the hobby project that he has done over the past month. It also made me want to try Warhammer: the old world, as well as buy and kitbash 2 miniatures for Vampire counts. Phenomenal job!
Square bases remind me of my childhood soooo much, and I remember the cost of minis well, I was always more focused on painting than gaming because I couldn't afford to buy big armies. these minis look great, and get me right in the nostalgia. they look like they are straight out of a 90's copy of white dwarf.
I know how you feel re cost of the metal mini's back in the day! I recently just finished 9 year old me's dream army of a dwarf slayer army that I saw in the army book well over 2 decades ago! Makes me so happy.
If you don't need those evicted wolf riders, I'd be happy to take them off your hands! Excellent work as always, it'd be really cool to see these ghouls and ghosts Salley out of a spooky ruined fort as part of the flair on the tabletop.
I really hope Trent has a video about his models as well. I saw the couple photos that Miniac shared with you guys and I was never more excited to see a couple creators together
That Morgiana model is perfect for the purpose. Great looking army! It is cool to see the old chaps rising from their hobby tombs to bring misery again.
Subbed!!! Edit: had to edit to say your army is beautiful, holy crap. I've loved whfb since 91 and nothing gives me a good feeling like seeing a good whfb army
Super wholesome video eric. There is something about these old models that really captures the nostalgia of being a smallboye starting out with warhammer so well, much better than any video game out there, especially because these minis are still really there, and not just memories of times long past. I gotta get the highelves from my parents attic. I still have a ton of them.
The posing on that mounted wight king takes it to a whole new level (literally!) The Bretonian zombie dragon is such a good balance of the purity of a pale undying lady and the wracked flesh of body horror below
I'm building a 9th Age Vampire Count army using a lot of old Warhammer models and this was very inspiring to see. Would love to see more Warhammer content!
The army looks amazing! I saw Morgiana in the thumbnail and it didn't even occur to me she's Bretonnian and not originally a vampire. You're absolutely right that she is a natural fit. I have a little 5th edition Bretonnian army in my pile of shame, including her in her blister, unicorn, toad and all, and I didn't notice. I also have 15 or 16 of those metal Grave Guard in the pile. Wolves however, are quite tricky to find here. One day...
6th and 7th ed are my two favourite editions because they really streamlined the troops and made it MUCH less about the single characters that defined previous editions (I.e. Herohammer lol)
Gorgeous army. I myself am nearly done painting my Vampire counts army (although this is built for 8th edition, so the unit sizes are pretty big, maybe around 150 models all told). I love how you did the tactical rock for your wight king (I just angled mine on the base), it looks amazing. Finally, one precision. The black knights, even if they're currently on sale for AoS, are actually a sculpt that came out for Warhammer Fantasy (I wanna say for 7th edition, but ai'm not 100% sure, it might have been 8th). The Old World lives!
Damn, looking at your minis took me back to the twilight years of Warhammer here in NZ back in the early 2010s. I used to love going to the local GW store and just admire all the dioramas encased in glass they had of battle scenes. Could never afford the figures themselves but I was always fascinated by the attention to detail in the paint jobs and terrain. Good memories.
Love your terrain. The castle walls looks awesome and the dense forests in a couple of the background shots a fantastic. The lake might be my favorite tho, looks really believable for such a flat piece
You aren’t taking a blood dragon blender lord 😮. Lunatic. Love the dragon conversion though, great miniatures. Man I’m getting nostalgic, 6th ed was a blast.
Love this, I was very young when warhammer fantasy was around and only played a little with the store armies at my local gw. Watching this is an awesome trip through time
I recently went back and finished my vampires after a very long hiatus and it has totally reinvigorated my interest in warhammer fantasy. End times bummed me out so much I just put them in a cupboard and left them. Sometimes it’s good to go back.
So cool, I've just bought a friends old vampire counts army including all these models and a bunch more. Yet to touch on them so this was a nice bit of inspiration.
I will absolutely always love fantasy. I have a Orc-Gob army for the last 30 years. The only criticism I have is that Games Workshop literally never developed good rules for this game. I had many battles over the years and definitely a lot of cherished memories. I just wish GW knew what they were doing when it came to balance and gameplay mechanics. Some of their more recent creations I've been enjoying like Kill Team, but alas, Old World Fantasy was such a rules-abusable game. If you have a fun opponent who just wants to enjoy the game without min/maxing things Warhammer Fantasy is an absolute gem. Thank you for the video!
Sweet looking army, looks fantastic!!! Assuming this is for 6th edition, if Trent's army is a daemonic legion, they get a normal ward save against magical weapons.
Awesome army, can't wait for the batrep! If I remember correctly, 6th Deamons weren't as bad as 7th or 8th, but immunity to VC's main strategy is bad enough. I started whfb and VC in 6th, and I can't remember ever, ever leaving the Coach at home!😊
Really depends on the types of demons. Nurgle, Slaanesh, and Khorne are manageable (though Khorne has the best melee fighters in the game). Khorne also suffers from its entire army having frenzy, meaning you can force them to charge by baiting with weaker units, then flanking with an actual, dangerous unit. If it's pure Tzeench, get ready to get fucked. Not only can they generate an absurd amount of power dice, each unit of Horrors can cast a bound spell with strength depending on the size of the unit. A Demon Prince of Tzeench and two champions of Tzeench (together, this uses all your lord/hero slots) generate 8 power dice on their own in a 2,000 point game. For a mere 70 points and a special slot, you can take a minimum sized unit of Marauders with a Mark of Tzeench, also giving a power dice. 3 units of Marauders is 3 dice, plus 8 from characters, and plus 4 for each magic phase means you have 15 power dice in a 2,000 point game _and_ _you_ _haven't_ _even_ _bought_ magic_ _items_ _or_ _included_ _bound_ _spells_ _from_ _Horrors._ In a 3,000 point game, that's 2x level four wizards and 2x level two wizards, with the lords being either Demon Princes or Greater Demons. But, there's also a magic item that lets you take a Chaos Lord as a demon lord, so you could use 2x level four Chaos Lords/Sorcerers and 4x level two wizards. This doesn't even get into the broken piece of shit Storm of Chaos book, which lets you upgrade a Pink Horror to a champion for each unit. The champion becomes a level 1 wizard, generating power and dispel dice, _in_ _addition_ _to_ _their_ _bound_ _spell_ _ability_. So something like a Demon Prince, Lord of Change, two Demonic Heralds, and 9 units of Horrors is 21 power dice per turn (minimum). I had to play against this once in a tournament with my High Elf Seer Council, who have the second highest number of power dice in a 3,000 point game at 15 to 18 (depending on the roll) each turn with two bound items lmao
Vampire Counts was my one and only fantasy army i ever got around to painting back in the late 90's/early 00's! I really regret selling them 20 years ago.

Unfortunately I never got around to building any of that particular army and they’re sitting in a box somewhere in my storage unit. I’m really interested to see what the new Old World game is going to look like and with any luck I may be able to bring some of those armies out of retirement to once again grace the battlefield with their presence.

Amazing looking work! Continuing to inspire us to bring back Warhammer Fantasy to our local community and play it youtube! Looking forward to the next video mate!
Honestly, just seeing an army like this again gives me all the warm fuzzy feelings in the world. As a kid I never had the budget to build one but I completed a whole night goblin unit with some heroes and whatnot. It was still magical. And there were some alternative rules called "Kriegerbanden" or "warbands" in english where you would play a 200 - 500 point game with limited acces to powerful units. It was great since you would not need a full army. Man I wish I still had that pdf with the rules..

Yes! And when both players take suboptimal units it’s always a great experience.
As a primaris aggressor enjoyer I whole heartedly agree with this
