  • Yes aftermarket brakes for the i30N is the only way to go, especially when the factory replacements are so expensive. My Hyundai i30N is already due for new brake rotors and pads because of the high miles I do not because of poor quality. Check out my DIY video on how to do a full rotor and brake pad change.

Thanks Adam - I am trying to replace the rear brake rotors and Pads on my I30N , and I am having trouble pushing the piston back. Handbrake I think. How to proceed????

They may need screwing in mate. Not all rear pistons are push in. You can buy a multi tool that snaps onto yr ratchet and screw them in. Make sure you release the valve also.

Thanks, Adam. A quick query - is the rotor wear because the i30N has had a hard life, or are i30s in general likely to want rotor replacements so early in their life? Reason for question is that SWMBO takes delivery of her new i30 (regrettably NOT an 'N') on Thursday and I'm interested to know how frequently I'm going to have to get back to your helpful YT clip. :-)

Hi Chris. My car has done nearly 60000 kms so for you thats probably 3 or 4 years of driving. So it wont be to frequent. Also the brakes are amazing on the N but that in part is due to the aggressive pad compound and a likely soft rotor metal to get the brake force needed so in turn they eat out the rotors. Hope that explains it.

Hi, just checking in after nearly 2 years, how have these brakes been long term?

Hi mate. Yeah good. Although the kms I do has dropped significantly. The rotors have not worn much at all. The pads are not great in my opinion. Couple of hard stopes and they sound like shit and feel a bit off. Maybe using OEM pads would be better.

@@FLIPMYRIDE cool, I've got the same discs coming, though front and rear and I think different pads, Ferodo DS2500s, so been all over reading on forums and watching videos the last few days, first time using godspeed discs, looking forward to getting them fitted👍
