This update is the best since cubase sx3 for me. Globally i like what steinberg did since cubase 12, but there s someting annoying that i fear they won t ever change => audio drop out when adding a vst/recording stop when adding a vst it kills a bit the vibe.
The font is so tiny on a lot of the words/texts, especially on the left column where you look at the track names, details, etc. Is there a way to enlarge the text size? Variaudio's grid and colors are so dark that I have to really squint. Cubase 14 is not for me. I'll stick with cubase 11 for now.
Been using Cubase for years and this is probably the best update they have done. The pattern editor and drum machine are going to replace a lot of the additional drum and sequencer vsts I use. The ability to use the modulators on the drum machine is second to none!
I have used Cubase since the 90ties and I still love it. It is just so powerful. That being said, you cant go wrong with other daws these days. Cubase just clicks with me and I think its just a romantic thought that I would switch to another daw that would replace Cubase.
Modulators are absolutely great for sounddesign! Shimmer is a great fx. I really love the new range tool functions for audio editing! Volume envelopes are wonderful.. Great update! ❤
Stereo Out is supposed to be the end of the audio chain, that's why there is no Send. In order to send to OBS I'm using a plugin in the Control Room, or some config in my audio interface. Anyway, I always have a final MIX group where all tracks goes (but the reference tracks) and that eventually goes to Sereo Out. I have nothing changing the audio on Stereo Out, only analysis tools (like Supervision, Melda tools, etc.). So I'm fine with the current system, but I can also understand your need and your frustration.
I’m in the middle of wrapping up a project, but I will be entering Cubase 14 within the year. (Been a Cubase user for fifteen years now … since version 4 if you can believe it … and I know there are older users than me =] )
2:15 Just an idea for the OBS conendrum: In Cubase Pro you could use a Cue Send instead of a regular Send, if you have one of the four to spare. That is what I am doing. 2:28 You can configure the items in the Inspector to bring everything back that you mentioned here. Not sure why the sections disappeared from the Inspector in the first place, though.
The left zone is logically set up. On the far left you always have the Zug Inserts and sends channel ready plus the equalizer. To the right of that are other things you need and you can freely set up what should be displayed and what not
@@FoliaSound Doesn't Nuendo 13 already have this additional, smaller Inspector? It was introduced with C13 and it's quite fun - it can do 80% of what you'd use channel editor for.
the plugin is worth the cash too. Fairly low cpu too. It does have a sound to it. Now I know the plug, you can often tell when you hear it on a record.
Great stuff, too much DRM for me, though, but I'm an extremist, I am on Linux and only use free and open source software. 😅 I'm not getting so much fancy stuff as a result, but that's the price I chose to pay.
If anything would draw me in, it would be the revamped score editor which is now like Dorico lite. Unfortunately I am too deeply ingrained in Logic Pro to consider anything else.
I always hated that you have to start by naming and saving your track or it will just put your samples in a different place, I couldn’t just get to work and save if I wanna keep it..
I'm here because I want to see how cubase compers with Reason which recently come out with version 13. There pretty much the same age, and both brands have collaborated in the past, certain early DAW devopments. Reasons device's are great but there DAW never gets that extra steps that other DAWs do, and are often late with update. I don't want to stop using Reason but some other DAWs are just better.
Hmm so it’s like s1 except with elastique algorithms, modulators, a way better sampler and drum track then s1. S1 may have slightly better workflow but these things are hard to catch up with. I’m personally considering the change
There’s a handful of things S1 has that are better. Being able to cycle through plugins in one window. The splice integration. (Although I don’t use Splice) More logical key commands. Better macro integration. Clip launcher. Cubase has many more options, plugins, and power, is more stable, is much better on CPU, better piano roll and I feel like it looks much better.
Yes - not advertising i'm not a creator but i've got a video up on my channel thats 10 years old of studio ones plugin window management and its wild how no other daw has this still. way better key commands in s1 its wild how many singular action commands are in cubase instead of commands that toggle an action. the macro system is way more advanced in studio one. The question becomes when does workflow not matter compared to a feature set. The envelope follower alone is significant to me There is a little irony here: I think most of us who even care about the modulators at all would all be on bitwig if it cared for any QoL features. just kinda shows the market bitwig is sleeping on. I've personally been bouncing between logic and s1 mostly over the years and now I think I'm going to start dabbling in cubase.
@ the workflow between Cubase and Studio One is very similar, and when you take into consideration, the feature difference it equals out. I have most of the major DAW‘s, and my favourites change from time to time. Bitwig has lots of amazing features, but I find myself hard-pressed to finish a song in it. I mean, I have all the top VST synths that have enough modulators, I don’t really need anymore. Logic is the one daw that I probably use the least. I can’t stand the piano roll in it, and it doesn’t have macros like S1 and Cubase.
I still don't know whether I like the split between the Channel on the left and the inspector ot not. I agree it is not super consistent and even a bit ugly, but sometimes it could be convenient. I'm used to it now, but I understand your point. But I think you can decide not to use the Channel panel at all and see everything in the inspector panel, right?
You completely miss the BIG thing about Drum Machine - they are not "basic samples" you were trying out - the icons are modifiers for a built-in drum synth - not only that there are several variants of synths for each part, including FM. Huge! Of course you can load and work with layered samples too, which can be blended with the synthesised parts.
Former Cubase user here that went to Bitwig... guess why? Modulators 😀 Do I come back? Not until they change the workflow, because actually that is what I disliked most at Cubase. And I see they did not change it, actually it might be really difficult with that interface. Drum machine is in Bitwig for a few years now, as of delays and reverbs, I think those are the most plugins on the market, so here we go, 2 more now.
Is Bitwig's drum machine a drum synth too? And the reviewer also missed the modulator icon that's on every plugin so you have quick to the modulators from within the plugins without having to go to the big lower zone. Sure, Bitwig has more modulation options - but do you actually need them?
@@LondonSteveLee I’m not really a beats guy, more like evolving pads and drones, and Bitwig is perfect for that. To me does not matter if it’s drum synth or not. That modulation option for everything is very handy. Do I need it all? Definitely not, too much randomization/ modulation creates chaos not harmony. Interesting enough though that both Cubase and Live followed Bitwig introducing modulators in their latest updates, showing that Bitwig is starting to set the standard at this chapter.
You mentioned Battery 4 when talking about this new drum machine. Interesting, because I was actually considering getting the new NI Komplete Select 15 Beats, mainly because it comes with Battery 4, but now this new drum machine on Cubase 14 may do most of what battery 4 can do... So instead of getting KS15, I could update my Cubase 13 artist to 14 for about the same money I would spend on KS15. Not sure which one to buy now. As a Battery 4 user, what do you suggest? Thank you.
I upgraded the same day it came out from C13 to 14, not that 13 was missing many things but was hoping for system performance upgrade, I rarely have crashes in 13 but 14 feels better?! maybe I am imagining, so far it is perfect.

Still no folder buses. Cubase is probably the only DAW that doesn't have them at this point. And the folder tracks Cubase does have are not visible or usable in the mixer, which is super annoying. I like the way Logic handles folder buses. You can use them as a bus like other DAWs or as a multi-instrument. You put a bunch of different instruments on their own tracks that are summed to the folder and then just use one midi event directly on the folder bus to play them all.
That's exactly what I meant, actually: it doesn't sound like a typical shimmer, does it? I can exactly tell you why: it just pitches the dry signal up/down and applies regular reverb to it. Most shimmers do it slightly different. Didn't like the vid or my opinion? Go watch sth else, I'm fine with that!
I've been using Cubase since version 6, and in my opinion this is biggest update yet. The modulator system is going to make me forget about my copy of Bitwig and enable me to once again be a one-daw kind of guy. Bitwig is absolutely lovely, I must say, but Cubase is now vastly superior for what I do. It's worth noting that the new modulators in Cubase are implemented as regular vst plugins, so I would bet a whole new class of 3rd party modulator vsts will be created and all other DAWs will eventually implement them as well.

My first thought when checking out this update was: so I see the devs of Cubase are Bitwig fans too. An Amazing and innovative daw, that one!

Got you, but it's different in Nuendo. All the main outputs have sends I can use and it's way more convenient!

The only UI (Look'n'Feel) evolution in C14 is the Control Room, that has a more homogeneous "flat" design.

Ableton Live, FL Studio, Pro Tools, Cockos Reaper, Studio One ........... I've tried them all but NOTHING beats Cubase !! (IMO).

Recently downloaded Nuendo 13 trial and had 15% system performance improvement over C13! will try the same project soon.
You can't loose with Nuendo. It comes a bit later than Cubase and is always more stable from early versions!
If only they'd add more chord tracks so you can have chord tracks per part - please Steinberg!
Cubase = Pro Tools + Logic + Bitwig.

S1 is subscribtion based?! Had no idea..

Since ableton live exists i dont even think about using daws that work in a linear way.
Modulators came from Bitwig as Bitwig has had this forever and have over 20+ Modulators.
Proceeds to use Shimmer solely with pitch set to plus or minus an octave and then says it's doesn't sound like a shimmer. :slapsforehead:

It's not worth the upgrade. Cubase's interface is incredibly cluttered. And performance issues are still a problem. I'll stick with Ableton live.
