The Sun Bum sunscreen made my face flare up in a massive reaction to something on the ingredient list. My eyes were almost swollen shut in just a few minutes, and they were running like an emergency sprinkler system. I washed it off immediately, but it took half a day for my face to recover. I was bitterly disappointed, and gifted it to a friend to use as a body sunscreen.
I got sucked into using all these oils, purchased from a local natural skin care company. I used them diligently for a few years, and saw no difference at all.
What I would buy if I won gift cards some apps would be more expensive skin care from the UK and altruist sunscreen and maybe some hyda labo too! Thanks Soo much Dr. Dray. I wish you were my derm here in Georgia!

Altruist SPF 50 stings my skin and eyes unfortunately. The new Altruist face fluid has a sublime light lotion texture but is just them same for, stings and burns. I go with non-nano mineral and put tinted over the top. Have just ordered the Dermablend pigment drops to try (to mix in with white zinc sunscreens), and the Mychelle spf50. So many sunscreens end up being used on my body only.

The Elta MD tinted has a very pinky undertone. It may work for you but unfortunately didn't work for me because I have olive medium skin so, I don't use it much. The Drmtlgy I have is the untinted one and I prefer it even though is slightly white casty because I use powder make up and bronzer on top and fix the color easier than the Elta MD tinted. The one I recommend for everyone is Krave beauty's Beet Shield. I even got my husband to use it, which is a miracle! It doesn't leave cast or oiliness on the skin like the Drmtlgy would. I have loads of different sunscreens I've tried and I can say the Beet Shield is my HG for the face and cetaphil pro oily skin oil absorbent moisturizer with spf 30 is the one I use on my ears and all around my neck and decolletage.

Dr. Dray, I bought the Cotz flawless complexion tinted SPF 50 vanishing zinc oxide mineral sunscreen and am using it for the first time today. I like the tint a lot better than the Elta tinted ones and Paula’s Choice tinted one because it’s a LOT closer to my skin color (fair skin, will tan. I usually buy the lightest or next-to-the-lightest foundation, cool undertone). I dont know if it fits into the theme of this video but wanted you to know. I’m hopeful it could turn into my Holy Grail sunscreen. Will have to use it awhile to see.
I live in California and the Altruist spf 50 came out to $15 for 2 bottles 100 ml each, and that’s with shipping. It almost sounds too good to be true lol

I'm encouraged to use sunscreen partly because of the sun protection and partly because your skin looks so clear and smooth. Could it be the zinc? I'm beginning to think of it as a beauty cream.
Winnie Pauly: Yes, I'm sure it does, and the added moisture from putting on so many layers probably keeps it looking younger as well. And when you wash off all those layers at night, it also seems to clean the skin more than just a regular cleanser. So many reasons to use sunscreen.

i bought Think Baby recently and I love it for my face/neck. It’s thick so it doesn’t spread on the body that well. I’m pale but I don’t get a white cast after a few mins and it looks fine under makeup. It feels kind of like vanicream on my face so I don’t mind it and it soaks in and makes my face soft. The smell is amazing!! it’s like a slight orange zest and doesn’t have the gross sunscreen smell like Alba
The ThinkBaby, ThinkSport, Badger ones are all so very good! They've been our go to sunblocks for years now. Excellent coverage and protection with these.

I just bought the alba botanica, for work. I like it, i have light to medium skin tone; i use a 1/4 teaspoon of it. The cast is minimal on me, perhaps its because i work it in. I like the dewyness, i find it comfortable to wser on my dry skin. I live in florida, perfect testing grounds lol.
I would like to see if you can review MyChelle products, specifically one for face sun damaged skin and acne scars. I am 49. In the last 3 yrs, I have been working outdoors as a sports camera operator 3-5 times per week about 7 months out of the year. I have acne scars that developed both in recent months and throughout the yrs since my late teens. I imagine I will not eliminate the deep scars I have or fix everything that the sun has damaged, but I want my face to look as best it can.

I don't understand how anyone could wear a sunscreen with a cast! I really want to use 100% mineral sunscreen for the environmental impact and superior protection but it's just not realistic 😣
i apply the olay spf zinc/chemical sunscreen and get a slight white cast. i then apply the la roche posay tinted titanium mineral sunscreen over it to downplay the white cast. is layering mineral sunscreens bad?

Any app/program like Drop requires a card number so it can track what you buy and where you buy it, thereby determining how many points you receive. Any "earn as you buy" application usually works like this, but some might only ask for receipts. It depends on the app tbh. If you are uncomfortable linking the app to your credit card, it probably isn't for you.
I once did a home made pack that included fine turmeric powder, fine sandalwood powder and sunflower oil - I used it to brighten my skin tone (Indian thing) and it worked for me without breaking me out (I have acne prone skin) and lighten my acne scars and hyperpigmention. So I totally agree with the "sunflower oil" being skin friendly for acne prone skin.
Update: I reached the brightness doing the pack for straight 14 days to a month. I don't claim that it works for everyone but it worked for my skin. I mentioned it here as for the topic of "sunflower oil". It helped in improving skin appearance. I did the CTM & sunscreen post that.
I love the baby bum sunscreen. It took a while to figure out how to how to rub it in to not have streaks but i love how silky it feels and not greasy. My go to.

I love the sunbum face 50!!! I’ve been using it for a year and it’s never left a white cast on my medium skin. It’s very thin and quickly dries down. Only downside is the shine it gives my face, so I set it with translucent powder and I’m ready to go. I definitely recommend it for anyone looking for facial sunscreen.

What type/brand/company of Hydroquinone Bleaching Cream do you recommend? Or if you recommend it at all? I have acne scars and Adapalene doesn't work on them.
What about Korean brand sunscreen. I guess some of them are cruelty free, like Benton, Cosrx, Mizon. Not sure to be honest, this is what themselves saying. I don't know if these are on sale in USA but it would be great if you make a video about it :)

Hey Dr. dray, if the Altruist sunscreen is a chemical, does it prevent damage from UvA? I read that Tinosorb prevents both UVA and UVB, is that the case? And does it degrade? Thanks and many loves

I just bought the alba botanica, for work. I like it, i have light to medium skin tone; i use a 1/4 teaspoon of it. The cast is minimal on me, perhaps its because i work it in. I like the dewyness, i find it comfortable to wser on my dry skin. I live in florida, perfect testing grounds lol.
I would like to see if you can review MyChelle products, specifically one for face sun damaged skin and acne scars. I am 49. In the last 3 yrs, I have been working outdoors as a sports camera operator 3-5 times per week about 7 months out of the year. I have acne scars that developed both in recent months and throughout the yrs since my late teens. I imagine I will not eliminate the deep scars I have or fix everything that the sun has damaged, but I want my face to look as best it can.

Sunbum sounded perfect but doesn’t contain any zinc so Idk how it would protect you from UVA rays

I don't understand how anyone could wear a sunscreen with a cast! I really want to use 100% mineral sunscreen for the environmental impact and superior protection but it's just not realistic 😣
What causes some sunscreens to pill up/flake on the face and body? I've noticed some sunscreens do this after I apply them, and some do not.
Some of the sunscreens don’t contain zinc. Doesn’t that make them less effective in combating UVA?
i apply the olay spf zinc/chemical sunscreen and get a slight white cast. i then apply the la roche posay tinted titanium mineral sunscreen over it to downplay the white cast. is layering mineral sunscreens bad?

Question: why does the Drop app need our credit card number?

Any app/program like Drop requires a card number so it can track what you buy and where you buy it, thereby determining how many points you receive. Any "earn as you buy" application usually works like this, but some might only ask for receipts. It depends on the app tbh. If you are uncomfortable linking the app to your credit card, it probably isn't for you.

I once did a home made pack that included fine turmeric powder, fine sandalwood powder and sunflower oil - I used it to brighten my skin tone (Indian thing) and it worked for me without breaking me out (I have acne prone skin) and lighten my acne scars and hyperpigmention. So I totally agree with the "sunflower oil" being skin friendly for acne prone skin.
Update: I reached the brightness doing the pack for straight 14 days to a month. I don't claim that it works for everyone but it worked for my skin. I mentioned it here as for the topic of "sunflower oil". It helped in improving skin appearance. I did the CTM & sunscreen post that.
I love the baby bum sunscreen. It took a while to figure out how to how to rub it in to not have streaks but i love how silky it feels and not greasy. My go to.

I love the sunbum face 50!!! I’ve been using it for a year and it’s never left a white cast on my medium skin. It’s very thin and quickly dries down. Only downside is the shine it gives my face, so I set it with translucent powder and I’m ready to go. I definitely recommend it for anyone looking for facial sunscreen.
Does it have a matte finish? I have oily skin.
I’m a PhD student... I’d use the points for Starbucks!
