- Ghostbusters: Afterlife director/co-screenwriter Jason Reitman sheds light on the sequel's story and the return of some familiar faces in this exclusive IGN Premiere trailer breakdown.
From director Jason Reitman and producer Ivan Reitman, comes the next chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe. In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, when a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind. The film is written by Gil Kenan & Jason Reitman.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife opens only in theaters in the US on November 11, in the UK on November 12, and in Australia on December 2. - Розваги
no matter how this turns out, success or crap, u cant say the director doesnt put all his love into it. he’s literally tracing the legacy his father built.
It looks incredibly promising. Hell, Ivan Reitman was with his son the whole time giving him guidance in the directing of this one.
Based on the trailers alone, it looks fantastic. It definitely has the heart and spirit of the original.

According to an interview, his father said that when he watched the screening of this movie, he was in tears and he told his son that he was proud to be his father. The original actors said that it was could even when they saw the screening of it. Bill Murray said he had to join because the script had a lot of great ideas. He said while it was hard, he knew that meant they were on to something great. All of this proves that we’re gonna be getting a great film.

Jason has always been my number one reason to be excited about this movie. He was the perfect choice to make a new Ghostbusters that wasn't just a cash grab.

This is not Ghostbusters 2016. Thats what he means by "cash grab". You can tell when something is slapped on a screen with no thought. This movie is taking a a beloved franchise and trying to spark that magic again when we saw it all for the 1st time. Its a make it or break it moment for the director.

Now see, this is how you do Ghostbusters justice. Not because Ivan Reitman is his father, but because Jason Reitman studied and researched what his father created on film, the love of the characters that Murray, Aykroyd, Ramis, Hudson, Weaver, Potts and Moranis portrayed. This was just a trailer, the location is different, but it feels like Ghostbusters. Plus hearing Harold Ramis’s voice brought a smile to my face 😊

If you know the whole story between Sony and Reitman then this will also serve as a huge middle finger if it does so much better than the 2016 remake. Theres a whole video on UA-cam that talks about it.

The original theme song from the 80s is extremely perfect and needs to be in this movie without a doubt. It wouldn't be a Ghostbusters movie without its own original and official song that Ray Parker Jr made specially for it when the first movie was made by Ivan Reitman. There also better be a cool montage with this theme song playing in the middle of Ghostbusters Afterlife.

You can feel the love coming from Jason for the original IP. This is how movies should be made if you don't appreciate the source material you shouldn't have a say in it's continuation.

The way Jason Reitman talks about the film makes it seem like so much love and care has gone into it.
Looks like Egon found a Temple of Gozer and made the house as a guardhouse.

From the first trailer, the mine was owned by the Shandor Mining company. That is most likely where they got the selenium
This temple could be the start 9f gozas worshipping so that town used to be goza worshipped but disappeared and all the dead people could be the original villagers from the town

Yeah....the Ghostbusters Video Game was supposed to the unofficial sequel of the first two since they didn't get to make a 3rd until now. The game had similar elements to what appears to be in this trailer complete with Gozur worshippers, secret occult. Looks fun

Yes, it was Revelation 7:12 that Ray spoke about in GB 1. But, Ray remembered it wrong. Egon was actually correct with his graffiti. It actually is Revelation 6:12.

Never thought I'd ever say this, but Jason Reitman is honestly the best person to carry the Ghostbusters torch going forward.
Hopefully, if this movie is successful, we get more Afterlife sequels from Jason.

Amazing. The first Ghostbusters movie in 30 years.
The seat in Ecto 1 that pops out of the side is an homage to The Real Ghostbusters.
This is what I'd refer to as a 'legacy sequel'. It draws all the right inspiration from what made its predecessor classic while still establishing something that feels new.
One thing missing from this trailer is the sound of the proton packs being fired up/switched on, that's one of the best sounds in Ghostbusters!
That sound is etched into the very fiber of my being.

I've rarely experienced such a passionate trailer breakdown from a director. Very interesting and sympathetic. Gotta admit that the new trailer didn't really grab me at first. But after listening to Jason's breakdown, I'm very excited to finally see the new Ghostbusters movie! :-) Seems like a labour of love. Which is very rare in Hollywood nowadays.

Love it! One thing missing in so much Hollywood movies now is the blend of practical and CGI effects.

You can really sense the love and devotion and dedication that Jason put into this film and how much he wanted to retain the spirit and the sense of family of the originals. This makes me all the more excited for this film!

This sequel is everything. Directed by the son of the original Ghostbusters '84 &' 89 movies. Resurprise the original main characters. The Spengler's grandchildren get to know their grandfather's history that people knew at that time. Woww you really make Dr. Egon Spengler proud.
Really adore his love for the film, litereally going everything with practical effects makes it even more worth being exciting for it

Such a GREAT trailer. And proof positive that it WASN'T the all-female cast that people hated. It was the way they treated the original source material. This version has a female lead and people are gaga over it, because (unlike with the 2016 film) this one does a fantastic job of tapping into what we loved about the original and enhancing it with 2021 sensibilities...
Finally! The story focuses on Egon! A MUCH MORE serious GHOSTBUSTERS, unlike the 2016 version.

The fact that they are using as much practical effects as possible always gives me more hope. This really does sound like it has been a project of passion.
