    I’ll be watching this a few more times. I have a new Haas but have not yet run. Your explanation has been enlightening. I understand it is different but I guess the same concepts apply. I like the touch dial. I have one from Shars. I will try to utilize it. Thank you.

    great video. thanks for making this! this helped me understand offsets better than any other video i’ve watched

    You explained all that as simply as possible. The fact that there are still several things to keep track of simultaneously though, is exactly why I just use the tool offsets exclusively, and put all my programs together so they assume the same set of offsets and the same set of tools.
    I make a lot of parts that run OD threads off both ends of the part, so I use a face driver a lot. I set Z0 at the left end of the workpiece with the most frequently used driving disc, and just fudge everything else from there.

      I clicked it hoping he would talk about 6.7 powerstrokes.

    Thanks for doing this video. You really explained this in a way that helped me overcome some major challenges I have been struggling with on my Mori-Seiki SL-0 Yasnac controller.

    With our lathe, ill use the cutter to come in on Z axis and just clean the surface off of my part,
    then I subtract the length of my part from the value that is already saved for that tool.
    Once I find out what my answer is :(example .002" or closest rounded value),
    I make sure the lathe is set to .001" movements for every click of my Z adjustment dial,
    then I will turn my adjustment handle -.002 clicks.
    Then I save that value to Z.
    Then for my boring bar, I will remove a bit of material on the inside diameter usually (.002"-.004"),
    where I have a nice smooth surface.
    Then I find the proper pin gauge that fit's the best, not to tight but as close of a fit as possible,
    then enter that value of the pin gauge into my X value.
    Those are just 2 of the values that I have to enter.
    Got to enter the out diameter of the part also if I am machining material off of the outer diameter of the parts,
    both for my cutter and boring bar also.
    Thanks 4 sharing all these very informative video's.

    Thanks for the vid. Why not use the tool probe ? we use the external page for tool indexing pos. with G51 in the program

    Can I pm you with another question on how you set up your offsets? I runa Puma at work and have a Wasino Fanuc10T at home that is kicking my ass on something.

    Very informative. I appreciate the chalk talk at the beginning. I'm working on a lathe conversion to CNC and am trying to learn what the best practices are for offsets and alignment. After watching your video I wonder if I'll be configuring the tool offsets and alignment much more frequently because I'm using an quick change tool post instead of a turret.

    • @WatchWesWork
      @WatchWesWork  6 років тому

      Your quick change tool post should be very repeatable. You can record the offsets for each tool holder and just change them as needed. I don't see an issue.

      You're not "converting" anything. You're adding a DRO to a manual lathe.

    On my doosan 2600sy the relative (U.W.H.) is the incremental values and the values that zero at the origin of the face of the part is the “absolute” value, which could be different for all kinds of machines

    14:26 you pull paper out without broke it so you are 2x paper with larger.STILL. you will cut bigger jole. and outer tool you cut smaller. you have hardened chuck that has outer measure that not change. use it :) yes you can measure inside tools too

    Can you teach us how to setup cutting tool for ID and considering the cutter is not hitting the chuck while machine is running?

    When you set your tool length offsets (TLOs) with your presetter, are the TLOs positive or negative values?

    • @WatchWesWork
      @WatchWesWork  4 роки тому

      It can be positive or negative depending how you calibrate the touch setter.

    They make a dial guage that fits in your chuck to zero out drills and reamers. No need for magnetic guages.

    So why don't you just use the automatic tool setter that's mounted right beside your chuck.

    2:16 actually that line belong. part front to behind chuck where machine zero is. usually, but i change it front of chuck. that way G54 is lenght of chuck to part front. easy. so easy. so for short machine zero is when turret go thru chuck. i have know idea how is like that. why not front of chuck. you never need move turret behind chuck CRASH lol

    But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Yeshua ישוע (Jesus) and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the YHVH יהוה (LORD) shall be saved.” Romans 10:1-13
