    make sure as well if your not using the direct offset to press cycle stop and spindle lock together to unlock the offset page so you can alter the offest you want, use page down to go through offsets, cursor down will go through each one in x then z before moving down a page, very tedious. Press the blue alarm reset and cycle stop to re lock the offset table (very important or all future touch offs will only afect THAT offset). Lynx 220 lsy with fanuc i control

    Good vid like always. Programmed, set-up and ran 2 Mori 7 axis DL20s for a number of years. Boss didn´t want us using the arm to touch-off tools. Would always do so on the part itself.

    Is it just for live tooling? The subtracting half the diameter..

  • @RaiderLobo78
    @RaiderLobo78 24 дні тому

    You shouldn't have to touch off on x with live tooling. It should have an automatic offset like − 14.201

      You can mount an indicator in the spindle and position your tool in front of the spindle and adjust the offset in Y and Y once you show no run out. Hope that makes sense. Let em know how else I can help. Thanks Tom

    Why would it be the - Diameter of the tool in X? Do you not want to find the center of it? Would that be the same for a drill?

    • @TomStikkelman
      @TomStikkelman 5 років тому +6

      All offsets made on the x axis are done in diameter to get to centerline. Even though you moved -.375 the machine basically only moves half of that. Hope that helps

    • @aebp420
      @aebp420 5 років тому +2

      @@TomStikkelman similar to when you need to make adjustments for id or od, you offset the full amount and it cuts half on either side. That does help, thank you.

    Say the tool setter is off in X or Z by like .01”. Is there any way to adjust / calibrate that?

    • @TomStikkelman
      @TomStikkelman 4 роки тому +1

      Yes. There are parameter that can be adjusted for each side of the the tool setter. You can request those parameters from the machine dealer

      @@TomStikkelman Tom, I work in a shop where we run a lot of long shafts that are used in electric motors. We chuck these parts running one end then flipping the shaft and running the other end. TIR is a constant problem when we do it this way. Do you have any suggestions to improve TIR we have worked on this for years with out much improvement. Thanks for your other videos they are very informative.

    • @spikeypineapple552
      @spikeypineapple552 4 роки тому

      Ronnie Elmore this is a standard way of shaft turning. I’d rough both ends in, then flip and finish one end that’s easiest to hold, then flip for a finish on Op4 with soft jaws. Are you using a steady?

    • @SearchForTruthHD

      Tom Stikkelman they don’t let them ,touch off on the probe because they either don’t have confidence in their people or the probes have been hit so many times ,they will not give you an accurate position.Touching off with the probe is the fastest and best way to touch off tools ,especially if yo have a full turret.thanks tom
