    Truly the end of The Queensryche era in my opinion.. once Chris left Queensryche was never the same, Tribe was their last great record

      Queensryche was never meant to be traditional heavy metal band, and Geoff Tate knew it well already in 1988. From Operation Mindcrime on the band has evolved continuosly always searching for new sonic territories, guided by De Garmo / Tate and then just Tate after 1998....

    I was at this show with my best friend at the time... We had lawn tickets, but standing in line to get in, we met a couple who had tickets, 10th row just left of center stage, who wanted lawn seats for some reason, so we swapped them, and we partied on the lawn with them while Metal Church was opening the show, Of course I bought many of the beers they drank for the upgrade in tickets... I was a little disappointed that they didn't play "Promise land", and "One more time around" from PL, and was shocked they didn't play "Anybody Listening" from Empire, which is a great live venue song, but otherwise... What a fucking show... Peace... Jacob....

    I saw this show at Hospitality Point in San Diego. This was a great show. I'm one that actually enjoys this album even though it's very much random through the grunge machine, it's grunge Queensryche style. "Hit the Black" is bad ass. The overall album is solid with a filler or two the rest is solid.
    This unfortunately would be Chris DeGarmo's last ride with them as he knew it was drying up over at the well for them.

    Man I would have given almost anything to see this Tour, Chris's last Tour with Queensryche & The end of an era, I like Tod la Torre but Queensryche isnt the same without Degarmo, It would be like If Roger Waters stayed in Pink Floyd & Gilmour left...it just wouldn't sound the same & Queensryche isnt the same without him.. Even when they do Songs with Acoustic fills in them they dont even use acoustic guitars, maybe I seem a little picky but the music deserves the Time & Respect.. Even when they play empire now they don't have the Speaking before the ending chorus.. Regardless of the negative reviews for Hear In The Now, It may not be a metal record like Warning but it's a great rock record.. it's probably 1 of my favorite Queensryche records

      jeff cordova, I agree about HITNF. I personally loved that album. I think it showed the continued growth of the band. Unfortunately there was too much internal dysfunction for it to continue with this lineup. I feel like they really lost focus after Degarmo left the band.

    Weird how everything worked out with this album as it was the last one they were contracted with for EMI, the label went under halfway into this tour leaving them high and dry and the death blow was Chris jumping ship. I was so upset when he left but I totally get it. He was tired of it all and who could blame him? He was the songwriting workhorse for this band and it's completely obvious once he left. He flew off into the sunset like a buddha--zero fucks given and living his best life. Cheers old school Ryche fans...grateful for this time capsule.

      I met Chris and the other guys backstage at the show in Virginia when Geoff was very sick in July 97'. Chris looked totally out of it, like his mind was on other things. That show felt completely off and it was very short due to Geoff's illness. I came out pretty bewildered too, after seeing them a few years before. How was this the same band?

    I saw this show in Mansfield, MA. While it was a great show... only 2/3 of the seats in the amphitheater were occupied. (But the lawn was pretty full). I think they still felt they had their "Empire tour" crowds.... but definitely not. 3 years later they were barely selling out theaters.

    Maybe the tour was better than Promised land but not the album???
    Hear now the new frontier had a few good songs in it in comparison with the Promised land album that in my opinion was far superior. There's no bad song on Promised land album, they're very good songs, may be not the best but good and still with essence and sound of Queensryche . HNTF sounded like grunge but not Queensryche IMHO.

    • @FreeMTrider
      @FreeMTrider 9 років тому

      I saw both tours and like both albums....although, I'm with you about Promised Land. DeGarmo was changing his playing style back on the Empire album. He was playing more blues style scales and tone compared to anything previous and wrote pretty much all of HNTF. QR has always evolved and is from Seattle, so it makes sense that would be right in there with the changing music environment, but always with the QR style that no one else has. Very versatile band. I've seen them live starting on the Warning tour and loved everything that they've produced.

      @@biez71 Promised land is a phenomenal record. I wish Chris chose to leave on that high note. chris was tired of it all and tapped and this record showed it. dude was the songwriting workhorse of that group and you can really tell after he left. he was just tired of carrying the weight anymore. good for him flying off into the sunset. the band should have hung it up after that but nope..and look what happened. such a bummer but glad these time capsules exist.
