  • Time for something different! This show is from Queensrÿche's '97 tour, in support of Hear in the Now Frontier. Luckily for us it was videotaped by a fan (sadly, I don't know the name), and the quality is pretty good considering the age - it's a bit distant, but the zoom and focus on the big screen makes up for it, and makes for a great viewing experience. The sound quality is pretty decent, also considering it's from a video camera.
The show is almost complete - the ending of 'The Lady Wore Black', and most of 'Silent Lucidity' is missing.
    Now for the show itself:
Queensrÿche scaled down on the theatrics implemented on the 2 previous mega-tours, and it matches the album well. Sadly, it's the end of an era, as Queensrÿche's days of selling out big arenas are over.
The setlist provides a great mix of old hits, as well as cuts from the new album. You'll hear great versions of pretty much every single song during this show, and some of the songs can even beat versions from previous tours (see the next part for elaboration).
    A comment about Geoff's voice:
Geoff's voice deterioated and changed through the years - most notable during the actual Mindcrime tour in '88/'89, as well as during the sessions for the Promised Land album.
During those days, Geoff lost some of his high-range, but his voice also developed a "husky" sound (most likely from smoking), and during the Promised Land album/tour it also seemed to develop a raspy sound.
Whether you like that or not, that seems to be gone for this tour! Geoff's tone has improved for this tour, and the husky and raspy qualities are gone! Geoff also seems to be more daring on older songs like 'Take Hold of the Flame' and 'Walk in the Shadows' than the 2 previous tours, and his sustains as well as tone on the songs are even better than the average version from '88/'89.
Overall, this is a great show, and a great tour. Enjoy!

Best song ever, A true departure from their classic sound. Brave of them to step away, and take a chance on these progressive harmonies.

people thought that hear in the now frontier sucked.. well compare it to every album after up til now. I'm my opinion it's still better than any of last records with Tate, the Tod stuff or Tate's solo. Chris's guitar work & song writing skills are truly missed.. for me he's like David gilmour, without him their is no pink Floyd without him ..I know people have their personal opinions about Wilton & Parker. Wilton's a great player and songs writer but There's just something about Chris that makes him special.. he's an underrated musical genius

`The only thing I don't like about this channel is once I start watching some songs, I find myself spending several hours watching videos. It's amazing how much content you have. Cheers.

Such a unique QR album. When I first bought it as soon as it was released, it was very interesting, every song was such a different QR sound. I liked it right away. I saw this concert in Charlotte NC at the Blockbuster Pavilion. Amazing concert. But my fav QR album is Promised Land. That album is deep and incredible, each song is a music mystery. Amazing song writing to say the least.
