There is a lot of disappointment in this video! Yeah, that one tank that ended up wrapped around the root wad, man, that was not only big but hot too! Simply uncontrollable. Experiencing the disappointments that come with steelhead fishing fills us with a resolve that others may not understand. We will go through nearly anything to hook and land a fish! This is some classic footage, Barry! Truly awesome stuff. I'm beginning to see exactly why you invented your current net system! Thanks for sharing this, its priceless stuff!
If we landed them all, it just wouldn’t be the steelheading I love. They are a challenge to hook, landing them is another thing. And it took me losing a couple nets before I started leashing them with my current system. It’s so nice to pick the fish up out of the net and just let it go. I can concentrate on the welfare of the fish rather than trying to hold my net and rod somehow. Thanks for the feedback William!
I think we've all had "flirting with death" adventures. I was stepping down into the water and was going to slow my approach down by putting my left hand on a large limb from a trunk of a tree laying on the bank. It was dry rot so instead of slowing down I accelerated, slammed into the tree trunk and broke my left humerus near the head. Now I'm in trouble. Face down in the water & waders filling up. Anyway it's all in good fun.
Wow! That sounds painful, not to mention scary! I’ve had a few falls where I was floating thanks to my waders, but was able to pop up pretty fast. In this video, (filmed with my GoPro on my head) I slipped and fell to my left, but my right foot was able to regain traction so I could stand back up. If not, it would have been a wild ride down that rapid!
Been through more then a few of these. Sorry about your net and thanks for sharing!
That’s about 4 nets ago. I’ve lost 2. 😁
@@RAGEFISHING Well you got me beat! Lol
@@stevedodge1195 That’s why I finally started adding a leash to the lanyard!
