Ive missed these kinds of more technical builds. I always love these.
Yeah, he should make another one of these vids where he also makes a piston engine that constanly spins and a neutral, and a good suspension, so its a realistic car.
@@laurensholthof i have to correct you *suspension*
@@moosles1357 Sorry wrote it in a hurry, and didn't proofread it. English is not my native language.
Dalmaron The First this is mechanical, not technical, but hell yes.
Amen Brother
Trophy truck with piston engine, wishbone suspension, and differential.
I feel like at some point its going to lag but I want to try recreating a differential first I think to see how it compares to the older one I have.
And rack & pinion steering
@@botston do you own the game?
Evan Herriges uhh no
@@kANGaming I have a differential that works I think, I'm making an as realistic as possible car right now. So far it's not lagging, but I'm not done
KAN go on main assembly, they added BEARINGS you can build PISTON ENGINES IN MAIN ASSEMBLY
I saw that! Definitely going to have to try making some complicated setups in Main Assembly!
Hehe doge
@@kANGaming OMG U HEARTED IT
I just spent 2 hours making one, but forgot to save it so now im in a bad mood but thank you Kan u made my day
hey im a big fan and if you could make a race were you race with cars that drive backwards
@@christine3210 they've done that
I LOVE those type of videos where you use mechanical gears like used in car, it's... So... Cooool !
Challenge (given it doesn't lag too much),
Connect a piston engine up to this transmission, then into a central differential splitting off into two CV / U-joints to two more differential for both front and back axles. Complete with suspension and steering.
A fully mechanically-driven car.
When survival comes out the design will become even more realistic with fuel
IDK what are you talking about but, it seems to be really cool
When you learn more from a 17 minute scrap mechanic video other than 4 years in engineering school.
But annoyingly, they wont take this as proof that you know what you are doing, you need a special piece of paper
imagine in the future you can show you know what you are doing by playing video games with gears
Legit this video just taught me how gears work. I'm amazed. All that homework finally makes sense, lol.
that sounds true
@@ZackeryCochran but this is far of from how a car transmission works...
We're you had the suspension, you could put a piston with a power at zero so it's more like suspension. if I remember pistons don't have a suspension like glitch. If I'm wrong I'm wrong thought, just giving my two cents into it.
Problem is building it. You need the piston to be extended to 5 blocks when you build it and I don't think there is a block that can do that.
@@kANGaming true, didn't think about, wonder if anyone has modded any block of different lengths, that have no collisions. Well it was a good idea, but I was wrong, lol
@@kANGaming There is! in durf`s modpack thre is 5 block long suspension!
@@embe_8244 he used that in the build, but to get rid of the suspension glitch, I thought use a piston, but like the suspension piece, because the piston doesn't have the suspension glitch effect happening at faster speeds. So he needs something that can compress and expand, but not using a suspension piece.
Hope that makes any sense whatsoever.
@@kANGaming You could use two pistons, one at 0 power & 0 length then another to stretch the first out of they way when the creation is removed from the lift
I need the gears!!, btw 1:15 u need to put the bearing to the gear and then weld it to the wall, new gears very cool
I put the link to the mod in the description :D
Cool
YES! Continue the realistic car series and maybe we can put everything together!
These technical builds are amazing, Great work.
Awesome concept and would love to see an automatic version. As a solution can you put a piston on the other end where the suspension was the reacts opposite to the existing piston to support the engine output, Then put some "T" pipes with free bearings and some bracing to the sides of the car on the back side of the cogs to stop them flexing as well. Keep up the amazing content

Please do more of these videos! Gears satisfy me too, watching them work and other mechanical ways to make them spin and make them do stuff in Scrap Mechanic just amazes me. Gears are a whole new world to me.
I’ve wanted this game for so long
Haven’t we all
This has been an amazing demonstration in the mechanics of gears over anything that can be taught in a class.
Try to build like a grandfather clock. That would be really cool
Yes I do think that a automatic gear box in a creation. I wish they had a gearbox mod.
that plays tunes and strikes the hour and keeps real time
I've been watching for almost 2 years now and this games has came a LONG way
It has DEFINITELY
Nice job man. I've been making and perfecting semi-realistic transmissions in Scrap for a while now, I think this might be the mod I need for smooth operation. Neat to see people trying it out themselves lol
More gear concepts please! This is absolutely fascinating!
Nice video. I've always liked your technical videos!
Man you really have some patience to make this. Nicely done
"if you overshift, it's your problem" 😂😂😂
Kan: so we're gonna need a smart engine and of course that means we need to hook it into a ws converter
Me: pretending to understand everything kan says.
Ws converter means he’s making it works so that when he’s in he seat pressing w goes forward and s goes backwards
You did it!!! yaaa!!
@TheHunter I don't understand both of Minecraft and scrap mechanic
Mumbo Jumbo but Scrap mechanic
I absolutely love the technicality and possibility of the new gears. Plz build more technical stuff
I love your builds like this
When kan starting talking about the smart engine and stuff my brain was like 🤯🤯
Oh man! I love gears! This makes me really want this game now lol!
There's no limit to kan's power and knowledge is there.
I knew you would have a field day with this mod as soon as Moonbo posted the video
Haven't watched the full video yet but wanted to start this comment. You explained gear ratios very well and used terms that everyone could understand. I like that.
So after finishing the video i may have a suggestion that could help. You could use a twin shaft transmission. Meaning you drive gear from your power source runs through the center with your gear selection(ratio) running tandem down the sides with a single output in the center at the rear. It was a very common design for semi truck manual transmissions. I wish i could explain it better but it's hard to write out every single thing about that.
I honestly cant wait to see you play survival! Btw amazing vid bud!
Thanks for making my day KAN! :)
Cool video. I love this kind of videos
I've never seen this game played before but the fact that you can make transmissions just looks epic. I want to see a 10 speed automatic like in the newer mustangs. It would be cool to see how big 10 speeds would be.
I frickin love this vids.... Im kinda learning..
manual is the only one you need :)))
also this exactly a manual because manual transmissions have a clutch which is the thing that releases the transmission so u can change gears so this is more of a semi-auto
anyway, in car culture basically the whole community agrees the manual is the best
I agree I loved my manual I just like the challenge of making something automatic :D
@@kANGaming big thicc juicy viscous and beautiful robux on your quest Mr big brain man :)))
It’s just more fun to use a manual
i mean essentially kan made a sequential (?)
Ah yes a fellow man of car culture
I love the proof of concept
Sick idea
Amazing, make your best car with this mechanism !
Need some "Tractor Pull" videos with all that Torque! Would be amazing to get the piston radial engine made with a geared transmission!
This is the COOLEST thing I've seen made in this game! Literally blew my mind! Loved this video, and all your others. Thank you kAN! :)
Ian is like the mumbo jumbo of scrap mechanic
Fun Fact: To quickly write numbers into a memory, connect a Keypad to it. The different buttons on the keypad are actually separate buttons and work like a calculator, sort of. It constantly sends out a number value equal to the number you type in (i.e. if you press 3, it will output 3, and if you subsequently press 5, it will start outputting 35), and if you press Enter it will output a 1 tick logic pulse and then reset itself. Very useful for writing memories. If you want to write 30 to the currently selected address, just wire up a keypad and type 3-0-Enter.
Nice vid love your stuff.
Awesome seeing my mod in a famous video. Thanks Moonbo and kAN!
This is the awesome content I'm subbed for :D
also great job on the vids, very enjoyable
Yay more Kan videos do enjoy your vids should upload more lol
Scrapman should see this
I don't even play this game but those gears are so hypnotic
A piston powered plane with these would be awesome!
Maybe you could stabelise the gears using a gear on all 4 sides of the shifting gear, i used this myself with the old gears and it worked fairly well
i love this kind of videos
i saw moonbo video earlier today and I just sat there waiting for you to do and actually transmission...
also can you make it automatic I would love to see that. also mm idea do a plunger gun challenge with the plunger mod that I saw scrapman use
Super cool
Very nice!
I think this should be a race challenge
I’m glad he understands it
You could maybe have a dummy gear on a shaft that follows the main drive gear ( like a rest on a lathe) that has the purpose of absorbing the flex when all that torque is transferred into the drive gear, so that it will push back into position.
I knew you would do something with gears. I saw them on your lift on your last video.
Yes convert it to automatic!! This is such a cool thing to do in a game like this. Wish my computer could actually run it
oh yeah, we got gear reductions, gear amplification, beautiful
Finally, gears
Also, Gear wheel challenge?
Maybe make the gears start rotating in the car then they lead to the wheel gears?
I didn't realize that there were mods for Scrap Mechanic. I've been making tons of stuff in besiege, and one of the things was making a good transmission, but the insane changes in gear ratios made it difficult, on top of the flimsy mechanics.
I'm definitely going to try this out though. Thanks for inspiring me. :D
Omg ok I love this you should def try to make a piston engine with a gear transmission and boom realistic car they need to add gears into survival
A tank with differential and "realistic drive", only one engine!
This brings me bag to Knex transmissions
Use a piston in place of the suspension. Place the piston extended in reverse and it will decrease in other gears.
Kan, I designed a mechanism with modpack logic that makes it so you can't keep adding to a number block after a certain point. You could use something like that in this mechanism so you don't start shifting into non-existent gears. I made it using an and gate, a math block, and another number block. The math block checks to see if the number block hooked up to the memory block is either less than/equal to a number, or greater than/equal to a number. You hook up the number input and the output of the math block into the and block, and boom. You can have two of them for both extremes, 0 and 4, and you don't have to worry about the memory block going past a certain point.
I used this system in my Forklift and lift designs so the number block that goes to the smart engine doesn't start counting into the negative when the lift/fork is at its lowest setting.
First. Thx for the epic vids stay safe. You should try build a differential.
Really cool! Maybe you could make it so that the yellow drive shaft also changes to the specific gear so it doesn't spin all the others?P.S. Love your vids:)
This game is starting to feel like gmod. It’s nice to see a different game where you can build all sorts of contraptions and drive them around. I wonder if this game would ever have a CVT based transmission for cars like gmod had.
I got a vid idea.
Use real life Lego instructions to build creations on trail makers to the best of block limits btw luv ur vids
I any one could do it he could
6:30 YES please make a livestream :D
Also, yessssss! Make it automatic!
Will love to see That Old 4x4 Audi Quatrro System Built Again
amazing vid try to make one that goos vroom vroom speedy speedy
Great, big brain, yes about car
You've got to make an automatic transmission now.
Piston engine -> gearbox -> wheels? Also try to make an AWD version of this if possible.
It would be really cool to see a differential
you should try to make a full on manual and then try to make a speed sencer for the atimatic
It's nice when you make a gaming video but actually it's learning about physic and engineering
after i saw the video you made with the electric motors with the magnets mod i thought it would be cool to build a transmission to go with it
now pair the electric motors and transmission and make something cool
If you can manage to add some sort of clutch, you'd have a far more smooth transition between gears.
And perhaps, if you use a piston engine, you might have a sturdier driveshaft.
TOTALLY makes sense
1:3 and 1:5 gear ratios would be perfect addition for this mod
You are a genius
Me being a mechanic, this pleases me greatly!
hey Kan, congrats on 200k subs
This is perfect for someone who like ti build piston cars like me
i luv all of your videos
Yo kAN, it's skipping because you don't have a differential on the rear axle. Having a diff with plenty of slippage will allow your transmission to not have hiccups like such and allow the wheels to rotate at different speeds without issue.
I'd like to see you work with the ASCII blocks. I've got a creation on the workshop that uses a memory panel to store and display 160 characters at once.
You could write a short book. Or the Bee Movie script.
Nice! Do it with a train
You should definitely add differential on it so you can drive better :D
on multiplayer monday u should do the gear challenge and make a car like this one u built
instead of the suspension, you could use another piston that rectracts as the one extends
