We love the video lessons!!! As my kids used the pdf in iBooks they used their own paper for the video lessons and the other problems!!! The videos are now on their homeschool app!!! I love that TGTB shows real life math!!! I think my kids do but I don’t hear it, I hear well I’m doing enough math!!!

    Hi,
My 6th grade son is currently in level 6 and on the unit 1 Assessment. Yes, it is VERY robust. This was the very first curriculum I ever purchased. Here are my impressions:
    1. Very thorough- sometimes I have him do the odd numbers or even.
    2. Videos are usually helpful but sometimes the problems she works through are not as challenging as the ones in the practice.
    3. Love the spiral format as there are reviews and that way he gets more practice.
    4. As with your daughter, my son typically needs me to help him, so I also watch the videos for review!
Overall, a high quality curriculum. Bible verses are mentioned a few times, which we love. I'm wondering if level 7 will come out by next year...

This program looks fabulous. I think I'm going to order this for my girl. As a math lover I am impressed!

I like that it seems the review is a bit less in Math 5!

My oldest is finishing up Math 4 too. The plan is to move on to Math 5. She also gets distracted often and it takes her close to an hour to finish usually. I have been cutting out some review questions each day since it can get super long to do it all

I’ve been so tempted to do that too, but my daughter needs the review… so it’s slow going :(

My son is doing math 4 also. Between watching the video, completing the lesson, and working on the multiplication, it was taking over an hour to get it completed. He was getting overwhelmed. What I've decided to do is we watch the video and do the lesson on the new concepts only and practice multiplication. Then on day two, we do the review and more multiplication. This works so much better for us. The great thing about doing it this way is that he gets introduced to two new concepts (instead of four) each week. On Fridays, if there is any concept he is struggling with, I supplement with a workbook. I love this curriculum but it moves a little too fast for my son. Slowing the pacing down has helped tremendously.

Same. I managed to buy al the old versions up to 4. But next fall, 5 may be very very too long. I'm not happy about the on line part too. I think we are switching. My daughter does TT .

What about your daughters personality do you think connects so well with this curriculum? Trying to pick a good math curriculum for my daughter. 🙂

I think she enjoys the video lessons (and the teacher). From what I have seen it is not too much (distracting), but it gives real life examples as to how the math is used. Then, the first page is practicing the new concept which she often feels like she can't do, but as soon as we do a few problems, she sees how little of a step it is from what she already knows. She doesn't LOVE the review page, but I do. She really needs to always be reviewing problems. But, it is beautiful, and often the problems are put into real life situations. And it's only a few of each kind. Of course, if you child doesn't need to much review, it would be easy to skip a lot of those review pages.

I love level four. I'm currently finishing up with level 5 and I don't like the way the assessment is laid out. It's so cluttered. And in my opinion, I think it's way too many practice problems

We are ok with it. My daughter needs a ton of review, so there is not too much… maybe a few too many of the lesson problems sometimes though.

Did you skip the mental math book entirely? Trying to decide if it’s worth it, or just extra busy work

    • @CalmintheChaosHomeschool
      @CalmintheChaosHomeschool  Рік тому

So, I skipped it last year when we did 4. Now that we are doing 5, I’m doing the level 4 mental math and it’s the perfect level for her. So when I pick up math 6, I’ll get the math 5 mental math.
