I was fascinated with the Delta Elite when they came out and I finally got my hands on one many years later. It’s a great pistol and it occupies a place of honor in my gun safe.
I have the Springfield elite operator , had the same problem tried different ammunition some helped some didn't. Changed to Wilson combat mags, no more problems. Shoots everything I put in it. Even the rounds that jammed before. Hope this helps
Kimber recommends a 500 break in period first. After about 400 rounds of S&B and Underwood I had some occasional failure to go into battery issues occasionally. I sent it back to Kimber where they put a heavier recoil spring and polished the feed ramp. I’m guessing it’s either a 22# or 24# spring. They didn’t say. Have had zero issues after the next 400 rounds. Found info on 1911 page that talks about the 1911 being designed for 45 ball ammo. Says the real issue with 10mm in the 1911 platform is the need of a slightly stronger hammer spring, and needing a flat bottomed firing pin block. The 18.5# to 20# works fine after the other 2 changes. I try to use the most powerful range ammo along with Underwood hollow points and xtreme defense. I bought a 10mm because I didn’t want a 40.

I know this is not current but I just bought a Springfield TRP 10 mm and I had the exact same feed problems you’ve had. I tried several brands of ammo and Wilson Combat and Cobramags. The Cobramags helped but I still had feed issues about 10% of the time. I contacted Springfield and they had me send it in. I sent it two weeks ago and got it back yesterday. Took it to the range today and had perfect performance with all magazines and ammo (PPU, S&B, AGUILA, DEFENDER AND AMMO INC.). They reamed the chamber, recut and polished the barrel ramp, polished the bottom of the slide and tuned the extractor. It feels much smoother now and performs perfectly. If you haven’t solved your problem, Springfield seems to have had some experience with this issue in 10 mm. You might want to contact them. Ken
Little late to the comments I know but don't use loctite on the grip screws. Go to a hardware store and find the smallest rubber O-ring you can that will go over your grip screws and reinstall them. The pressure will keep the grips tight I've never had grips come loose using that technique. Also switch to slot head grip screws instead of Allen's so you don't need a special wrench every time to reinstall you can just use a normal screwdriver.

Don’t know for sure what the issue was they recut the ramp and repolished it my dad bought a kimber eclipse in 10mm had the same issue and sent it back and they recut and polished it and his is working fine now
I've been a fan of 10mm for over thirty years now. I used to shoot a Smith & Wesson 1006, (which I wish I still had) now I shoot a Glock 20 Gen 5 and a Springfield Armory Elite Operator.
I had a similar issue with my TRP Operator 10mm, how I fixed it was breaking the edge of the transition from the feed ramp in to the chamber and polishing it; just softened/smoothed the sharp edge. And a 24# spring for heavier loadings. I also suggest Wilson 47nx magazines.
I see I commented several months ago. The R O is tops 💯. The 22 pound spring vs the 18 pound spring u had in their before. The gun shoots alot better now 💯. I feel you are going in the right direction. Shooting different types of ammo thru it ✅. The Sg Sauer, rounds surprised me 💯. I knew the federal would be the most potent of the rounds you shot 💥. Work the spring out some more. It may just need a break in point 🤔
Polish your feed ramp and more importantly polish your chamber. That will help the rounds feed into the chamber better. Concentrate on the top of the chamber because the edge of the round catches on the top. The chamber is just tighter on the Springfield so you need it to be slicked up.
Had the same problems with an original Delta Elite I sent off to Novaks to spice up. Take the extractor out and bevel the bottom edge behind the claw. This helps the round to slide up under the claw for controlled feed. It only takes a small amount of filing. I also use a 24lb recoil spring, for heavy reloads. Best of luck!@
Excellent video! Certainly helped as I have had concerns with newer Colt products. Only critique- Ammo is plural (please stop with the “ammo’s). Thanks again.
The failure normally has fed into the chamber but not fully up the breachface under the extractor. Ck extractor tension, examine and polish the hook if correct and breach face is smooth.

It was comped out, with a port added to the barrel, and a competition trigger. It was definitely a tack driver...LOL
It's a shame to see American Icon turn to Crap due to "Bean Counters" and lack of vision.. Colt, much like Smith & Wesson have been Spotty for much of my life, I'm 50!, have owned and shot lots of them and Man you said it,,, you never know if you will get a good one... For my money I'll go with a Dan Wesson or take the hit $ and buy a Custom made hand fit 1911.. The initial cost stings a bit but once you shoot a les Baer or a Wilson it's hard to go back.. Sig's early 1911's were pretty darned good for 1,000 $. Now,? Who knows..? Kimber's again, early one's were solid, now?? iffy... Good luck Pal.
The Colt will fail soon enough. You'll know by looking at the locking lug system of the slide and barrel (wear) you'll have to put a 24lb flat wire silicone recoil spring and a stainless steel guide rod with a 25lb mainspring in it. As for the Springfield, try mating the slide to the frame with Flitz. Unbarrelled, no recoil spring, the slide should fall off into your hand when tilted forward. But an 18.5lb recoil spring from the factory (.45 quality) is ridiculous.
For a gun that you proclaimed might not "work", it sure proved you wrong.... huh? A Colt compared to the springer? Not a fair comparison... the Colt is a much better pistol... Nice shooting btw!!
I would suggest that you field strip your Springfield and take the barrel out and get some 1000 grit wet/dry sand paper and you use some 93% Alcohol to Polish the barrel and barrel chamber area to take ALL Machine Marks OFF the Barrel and then do the same with the INSIDE of the Slide that will reduce the amount of Friction and give you a Smoother Cycling Slide and Increase the Reliability of your 1911. This is something that I do to ALL my 1911 and to all my Stainless Barrels. Also double check your Barrel Bushing to make sure that you do not have any rough surfaces. Polishing the Barrel and Removing Machine marks is something that is only done by HIGH END 1911 companies like Nighthawk and Wilson Combat but you pay for that service since it is very Labor intensive process but you can do it one afternoon start with 1000, 1500 and if you want to go 2000 grit you will have a Mirror Finish barrel and hood I normally only use 1000 grit inside the SLIDE. Then Clean everything very well and then lube and reassemble and your pistol will function as if it was on ball bearings. I have done this process to my Springfield and Sig 1911s and also to friends Ruger, Colt, and Rock Island that went from jamming every magazine to over 5k fired without a malfunction so far that was over 2 years ago since we did the barrel and slide polishing.
1911 pistols are designed for ball ammo.. the shape of the head of the round is the problem.. if it's not original ball ammo it creates unreliability.. and all ball ammo is not the same.. .
I wouldn't waste my money ON a COLT.once they fell off back in the day for using plastic parts on their 1911's they were done. AND SPRINGFIELD just sailed right on by making colt 1911s look like junk and then for the price .

@@johnklatt3522 thanks for the information. I love my RIA 10mm, and have had NO problems so far. I like the fact it has a 6" barrel and a 16 round magazine. As well as a full rail.
Add that to the fact that I didn't think I could AFFORD the Delta Elite.... LOL
@@johnklatt3522 I used to have a Colt 1911, many years ago when NC only allowed open carry. I carried that every day for at least two years.
I never once had a negative reaction from police, or anyone else. Times have sure changed!
One of my biggest mistakes was letting that go. It was comped out, with a port added to the barrel, and a competition trigger.
It was definitely a tack driver...LOL
Which pistol was better for you
How’s the 762x39 doing???
The 1911 platform is all ways gonna work. Single stack guenius .
What happened to your channel bro?
Dude where have you been....???? Welcome👍
I missed you
Have you shot hollow points out of the colt if so how did it run?
Yea I shot some Sig hollow points through it and it functioned flawless.
@@NolanOutdoors okay Thanks
Try a stronger MAG spring. Best of luck.
Mag catch on Springfield, take a look
Hold mag in on bottom when firing it should work
Change the extractor with a upgraded one.
Love the video but you have to work on the sound going in and out. Thanks.
Ise only colt or wilson compact mags.
My buddy bought your atv on iaa
For a gun that you proclaimed might not "work", it sure proved you wrong.... huh?
A Colt compared to the springer? Not a fair comparison... the Colt is a much better pistol...
Nice shooting btw!!
Mag might not be seated high enough
The Sig ammo is real full power 10 ammo 1250 fps.
Pretty close to it
Brazil made is a good thing
Mine is a 88 model
Your camera went deaf after you shot the Delta
👍🏽
Looks like feed ramp may need little work
All my colts run better than any of the glocks I've owned
Sold all my glocks years ago
1911 pistols are designed for ball ammo.. the shape of the head of the round is the problem.. if it's not original ball ammo it creates unreliability.. and all ball ammo is not the same.. .
The feed ramp also has to polish itself through use which is why 300-500 round break ins are required
I wouldn't waste my money ON a COLT.once they fell off back in the day for using plastic parts on their 1911's they were done. AND SPRINGFIELD just sailed right on by making colt 1911s look like junk and then for the price .
Mark your mags see if you have the same problem with the same mag a lot of that could be just a magazine
Springfield 1911s are all made in Brazil
Frame and slide
I think your microphone got WORSE, if that's possible as you shot more. There were times I couldn't understand every word you said.
To be honest, it almost caused me to change my thumbs up to a thumbs down.
All I have is my cell phone to record with. That or a GoPro, which is WAY worse as far as audio goes.
@@NolanOutdoors There's probably a setting you can adjust to stop it from doing that.
Of course you COULD just get an ANDROID.... LOL
(Sorry about that... The Devil made me say it... Grin)
