I love the simplicity of that Panerai, not boring, but well executed design that works. Elegant, proves that less is more, like a well-tailored suit.

    • @bertholdbach4959

Really? I think the Panerai looks crude and clumsy. There is nothing elegant on a Panerai.

@@bertholdbach4959 that’s the beauty of watches and collecting. Plenty of variety out there, and we can all express our different tastes with a brand and watch of our choice.

@@gavinwhite9743 What kind of brainless copy-paste reply was that? Are you an AI? This exact response is what I get every time I dont like a design/watch. Blabla different tastes, blabla something for everyone. Its like people dont know themself why they like something and just write a general statement.
If you take the time to reply, at least tell me why you think differently than me and dont throw platitudes at me.

@@bertholdbach4959 I think Gavin's original comment told you what he likes about Panerai. Since you only insulted his choice, and didn't bother to offer some alternative watch choices to opine on, I don't there was much for him to build upon.
I happen to agree with Gavin. There is much to love in the simplicity. The case design, the choice of crystal, the handset, and many other elements. If you have an eye for design, and you've spent any time at all with Panerai watches, then you might agree. Or as was stated above, you might not, and to each their own.

I couldn't agree with you more. My everyday watch has turned out to be a PAM560. It hasn't come off my wrist for the past 3 years, been everywhere with me and suits my casual style. I don't know what it is about Panerai but I just love them. The beauty is in their simplicity.

You made that beautiful piece of horological history shine! The close-ups are just as good as it gets and they go hand in hand with your voice overs. For those who are on the fence about buying a Panerai: I challenge you not to buy one after watching this video! Instant upvote!

Love panerai watches. I bought a limited edition panerai Luminor submersible 1950 3 day automatic 47mm Titanium. Must of been around 2015/16. At the time I only had this and an omega. Left the watch in the hotel room. Come back no watch. Stolen by some cleaner/ member of staff who knows. Could not afford to replace it at the time. Maybe I should get another one. Anyway I don’t leave my watches in hotel rooms any more. An expensive lesson to learn .

This Panerai summary and the watch journey resonates with me a lot. I too am a bigger, solid guy. I used to consider watches the community would put forward. Most of the time because it looked good on them and suited their smaller frames. Gradually realised you have to buy for yourself and what suits you. A 40mm Rolex is well and good but pointless if it doesn’t wear well on you. Bought the Panerai 210. Never looked back. Perfection for my wrist. And personality.

Agree it's a journey! I would also submit that in addition to 'You're not wearing the right watch" - "Who are you wearing the watch for? Great advice to have someone come with you who knows you well and can offer another perspective. This happened to me recently when I picked up the PAM 716 Mare Nostrum a model from Panerai I never thought I would own or would look good on me; but it does. Fascinating. and all part of the journey. The Nove Marine is a cool piece!

Agree with everything here. I like watches that are as big as I can where, ideally 43 mm. I have some smaller watches that are OK but I prefer bigger watches. Also agree that gold doesn't suite fair skin but looks great on slightly darker skin. In the jewellery world people talk about being either a silver or gold person and this comes down skin colour or complexion.

Amazing I then saw a paneria 2231 that I just knew was me all over so had to have it. I love the stealth of it and wear at my work in the water industry during the day before donning the omega at night👍

The Nove divers extension was seen on Citizens from the 90s, and you can get aftermarket clasps also with this design. It's junk. The problem is that fully extended, it's an ugly looking bar that sticks out in a weird way. Also, it takes the place or does double-duty for micro-adjustments, which means using it for micro-adjustments reduces its utility for divers extension. The better solution from higher-end watches are the systems similar to Glidelock or T-Fit, where the part that extends out from the clasp are just another link, so it doesn't look like a bar sticking out; also Glidelock/T-fit are just for micro-adjustment and divers extensions are an additional separate piece (so reduction in utility due to double-duty).

Well done! That Panerai does look outstanding on you! The PAM 587 is definitely about as big as it gets in Panerai. The 1940 case, with the fixed lugs, makes it wear bigger than the wire lug offerings. The box crystal does shrink the apparent size a little, so it comes off looking well balanced, in spite of the larger specs. My PAM 662 is pretty much the same watch, but with the simulated aged dial.
When I got into watches about 6 years back, I would never have imagined owning a simple 3-hander, never mind a 2-hander. Fast forward to today and Panerai is by far the dominant force in my collection. 13 out of 30 pieces, with current plans to make that 13 out of ~24 pieces. At least 75% of the time I glance at my wrist to see the best of Firenze looking back at me. I do have some more complicated Panerai entrants, like an Equation of Time, and a couple of GMT's, but 6 of the 13 are just simple 2-handers, like the PAM 587. I can't imagine that level of simplicity holding my attention in any other watch brand, but for Panerai, I never get tired of them.
Anyway, I hope you hang onto the PAM 587, and maybe add some more as time goes!
