One thing I absolutely love about horology is the collision of beauty, expression, precision, and history; simultaneously connecting past, present and future.
This video is a true masterpiece. Oisin, thank you for all you do for the watch community.
This should be on TV, in one of those How It's Made type of shows, except it's way higher quality. This is brilliant. You have the gift of storytelling. Thank you for this video.
It's called the Irish gift of the gab.
TV is too dumb for videos like this, people might actually learn something
Another Oisin masterpiece! ❤️⏱️
What’s a TV?
Correction: Cesium-133 is stable. It's 134 & 137 that are radioactive. (looking forward to all you experts chiming in in the comments)
Wait until they start with the "duhhh a feather cant fall at the same speed as a bowling ball Oisin...." 😂
😂
Oh yeah? I have a bunch of Cesium 137 and it's really stable. So there.

A absolute jewel of a documentary.
Imagine a time when you used your pulse as a standard to measure something else by, instead of the other way around. And then all they way up to the thousandths-of-a-second atomic clock. And in the intervening hundreds of years, the same shapes--the balance wheel, the pallet fork, the mainspring in its barrel--were all there, in different sizes, made of different materials, doing the same job, using the same principle.
It couldn't have been illustrated better. Thanks, Oisín.
Thank you for this beautiful video.
It’s nice to see quality content like this in the UA-cam watch space. It gets tiresome to only see videos about trading watches on the grey market like they’re commodities on the stock market. Great job, Oisin.
❤❤❤ Finally!
@@TimWrite I think you should try your hand at this style of video with your knowledge it would work.
Well by god, you’ve done it again Osin. You are truly one of, if not THE best artist in the watch content arena today. Thank you.
true!!!❤
I don’t think anyone is even close actually.
This is the kind of history and science content that should be shown in schools, the clarity of the delivery was exceptional. Great content Oisin, keep it up. You deserve a wee dram or two after this,
I almost literally never comment on ANYTHING on UA-cam. I preface with that to apply emphasis to the magnitude of my respect and admiration for the production of this video.
Truly brilliant. Your channel is excellent, but this? This is exceptional.
Thanks for your time, expertise, and vision. Sincerely.
The pure emotion that comes from the videos like this is why we love you man. Stunning!
You just keep producing better and better videos. The way you make use of history, art, culture, music, science, architecture, scenery, food, drink etc and wrap it all in a watch or time related theme is absolutely incredible and so compelling. Us Irish people don't compliment each other much... but my God... you did an incredible job again with this video.
I can watch this video over and over. Such a great video!!
Extraordinary video. A master piece.. you are the man.
One of the best videos I've seen. It must have taken a lot of time and effort to create and produce. Well done, Oisin!
Amazing production. Really enjoyed it!!
Beautifully articulated, beautifully conveyed, beautifully shot. Well done mate 👍
You’ve done it again Oisin. Absolutely captivating piece.
Well worth the wait. Another masterclass from Oisin. Thank you.
Please don’t stop making these videos Oisin, absolutely brilliant. You are so different from all the rest of the same old UA-cam gang. The visuals, the music, the information, it’s great. 👏👏
This video should have a million views. It’s brilliant, moving, and reminds us why we love this stuff. Thank you.
Thanks for making a very complex process mayed clear .
Oisin, I honestly don’t know why the Science Channel, Military Channel, Discovery Channel and the History Channel have not hired you or at least syndicated your productions .
Every video you have come out with is not only entertaining and educational but provocative as well.
There is nobody out on UA-cam that can match your productions .
This video is by far one of my favorites that you have done .
By the way it’s no wonder we haven’t seen a Watches and Wonders video besides the Austin Collaboration the other day .
Excellent is an understatement , pure brilliance is more like it .
My hat off to you my friend.
👏👏👏👏👏👏
Your artistry and passion oozes throughout. The Galileo of the watch community. A pleasure to watch (pun intended). Bravo.
Well done Oisin 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 What a wonderful and informative video.
What a great video. So unique and gives a great background to the hobby. You constantly raise the bar. I also loved seeing the “behind the scenes” clip you posted on instagram giving a little teaser in what was to come. More of that please!!!!!! Masterclass.
Bravo Oisin. Never let us down. Thank you for putting so much effort into it. 🙏🏻
Quality content unlike so much watch cr** on YT.
Another master class from one of the best watch channels on UA-cam! Creative, informative and very well created content. Thank you!
These are the videos that set Oisin's channel apart from the other watch channels out there. Brilliant !
It was worth the wait Oisin. Beautifully shot, great editing and the soundtrack is perfect. Well done 👏
This is you at your BEST Oisin. THANK YOU for the thought provoking content!
Just when we thought we couldn't love our watches any more .. Thanks Oisin.
Brilliant, never disappointing. Thank you for all of your hard work that masterpiece must have taken to make. Bravo
It is an understatement to say that this is a great video. As a mathematician and watch enthusiast, this video is, by far, the most interesting watch-related video I have seen anywhere!
Fantastic and educating video!! Its a real pleasure the blending of music and images 🙌
This is really a wonderful and amazing documentary. Lots of great editing, music and narration.
What a wonderful explanation! And beautifully shot and scored!
One of your best yet Oisin. So informative yet creative. Your use of music and cinematic affects are remarkable. Your channel is quite simply the best among all the You Tube watch shows bar none.
I got into the hobby about a year ago of learning about watches and starting a small collection. This is probably the best and most important video I’ve seen in the last year. It’s finally “clicked” in my head as to what is actually happening inside my watch or any clock. Thank you! Truly an outstanding and informative video.
Fantastic video all the way. Very educational in a relaxed way with tons of awesome, cozy mood. - Love it :)
Maybe Double-O’s best production yet. Impressive storytelling, excellent music choices, incredible history, and as always, stunning visuals!
What a brilliant video. The music throughout perfectly sets the mood of each scene.
To me, your best video yet. Thoroughly enjoyed watching and will definitely do so again. Thanks.
Bravo!
Genius-level insight into the profundity that we take for granted in our modern times.
Many thanks for your efforts!
This is what I love about your channel Oisin. Artful music and visuals, deep research and intelligent commentary. Yours is a watch channel not only for enthusiasts but for those with a deep appreciation and love of time keeping.
This is amazing. Thank you for teaching us Oisin!
The story, pictures, video's, music, sound quality, editing......a true work of art and you have created a masterpiece. Thank you so much!
This video is a joy
Never seen this explained before in such an engaging manner. As always the production quality and music choice is exceptional.
A beautiful love letter to time and the elegant machines we use to measure it. Spectacular.
Very educational, quite enjoyed that
I don’t believe anybody could make a better video on this topic than Oisin. Or any other topic to be fair. Pure class as always 👌👏
This is a beautiful piece of art and science and engineering. Thanks Oisin!
Again thank you, you have proven once again you have the best watch videos on the internet. Great job
Fantastic work Oisin, truly beautiful and artistic demonstration of horology. Must have taken so much time to actually reveal time. Bravo !
This must be one of the best videos about watches, time, history of time calculation out there. Well done man much better than other content we recently get from the channel
Many of the ‘stills’ you show are works of art in themselves and would make the perfect framed photograph. Love them all. What a beautiful place to live!
This was so well put together it deserves a prize. The music combined with the explanation of isochronism and what it led to combined with the execution of the cinematography is just sublime.
Masterful, this video should be part of the school curriculum, probably the most informative and entertaining way I have seen of explaining timekeeping through the ages!
This is the most beautiful and interesting story about watches and time that I have ever seen... To me this is a masterpiece.
Bravo!
You are the Masterclass on UA-cam. Great story teller!
Awesome work Oisin. Love the imagery and passion. Thank you!
Well done, sir. In the wasteland of Watches and Wonders videos this is truly refreshing and gives us time to reconsider why we have this passion. Keep it up mate! 🎉
wonderfully done, emotional, historically accurate and a bit out of time, because anyone who deals with watches knows that you forget the time. Respect for your beautiful talented work. God bless you Oisin
This has to be one of your best videos…actually one of the best videos I’ve watched on UA-cam!!!
So educating and informative,I almost feel Vindicated for spending 5k+ on a watch now.
Please keep ‘em coming Oisin…never tire of the content you post!!
Beautiful documentary. A jewel in the UA-cam watch world in my opinion. Thank you for this. 👍😎
I’ve been discovering your videos for while, and it’s a complete breath of fresh air. Like many others, I just want to thank you for your work, Sir. Your documentaries are instructive, inspiring and stunning. Discovering Venice, Verona, Bologna, architecture, art, culture, music, fine wines, and now science … all of that associated with watches, this is brilliant. All the compliments you already got are well deserved. Thank you so much for you amazing work. I keep enjoying it 👏🏻
Another gem of a video Oisin. You never miss a ‘beat’ with your ‘precision’ filmmaking. Thank you as always for the excellent content.
This is a masterpiece of historic storytelling and clarity. Bravissimo Oisin.
Awesome film! Please can you tell me what the last piece of music is?
Mr. O Malley you are so damb talented. Another amazing piece of art! Way too go.
Terrific video, Oisin ! ....It is really amazing to reflect on how your watch channel has evolved over these few years into a channel very often about watches, yes...but also so much more: cultural, historical, scientific, musical and even philosophical elements are often mixed into the equation. The photography is worthy of awards, in my humble opinion.
These added layers make your channel quite unique, highly entertaining... and actually "timeless".
Someone watching these videos 10, 15 or 20 years later will certainly be as entertained as we are now.
Not a bad legacy to add to your achievements as a musician and producer. Nice job.
So good I watched it twice. Fantastic effort with this documentary Ush - the time and care you put into this is clearly awesome. Beautiful work.
I watched a ton of watch content but this one is truly a masterpiece. Bravo.
Brilliant. Never even thought about how a watch works until now! What a brilliant production Oisin 👏
A true masterpiece, Oisin. Your talent as an educator, is awe inspiring. Bravo my friend.....bravo👏. Thank you for the engaging episode. One of the very best, I believe, that you have ever done, and arguably one of the most important. To both enthusiasts, and collectors, alike. Understanding is key, to everything in life, I believe. Best wishes to you.....
Another work of art Oisín. This video will become the definitive description of time keeping 👏
Quite simply superb Oisin….absolutely stunning.
Another great production Oisin. I’ve been into the watch hobby seriously for 15+ years and you taught me a few things I didn’t know. This is a great explanation of what makes mechanical time keeping so interesting. You’ve really covered a lot of ground here and I really appreciate the fact that quartz and atomic timekeeping are included. Brilliant job and top quality viewing as always. I showed my wife this video and she now appreciates why I find wristwatches so fascinating. Thank you.
WOW, simply WOW!! Oisin, this is a masterpiece that captures the very essence and emotion of why we collect watches!! Absolutely amazing!! BRAVO!!
Saved this gem for the end of the day and boy was it worth it. Exceptional work. Thank you.
Thoroughly enjoyed watching
This should be a 1 million+ view video! Absolutely amazing!
Amazing Oisin, incredible video, well done.. Can’t wait to see Lenny unleash on the OP bubble watch..
Another in a long string of beautiful masterpieces! Bravo Maestro!
Best youtube channel related to watches and timekeeping. I love your content since the beginning. This is again a masterpiece. So so good 👍🏻
This was a truly fantastic video. I learned a ton. I appreciate the pain staking amount of time energy and effort you put into these videos for us.
Without any business involved his content just oozes so much more passion
This is excellent. It explains why I have always been fascinated by watches and clocks. Probably one of the best pieces on You Tube I’ve watched.
This is a master class of a video. This beats the breaks off of PBS and BBC documentaries I grew up watching.
Video stupendo, come tutti gli altri. I contenuti che carichi sono cortometraggi, documentari, piacere per occhi e orecchie, si percepisce tutto l'impegno che metti dietro. Complimenti!
Very moving & brilliant...thank you!
Fantastic. This video is right up there with your old travel videos. Outstanding work.
Very nice. What amazes me is not only that they conceptualized the clock mechanisms, but others were able to make the machines to make the parts exact enough for them to funtion. I do some watch repair and I love my tools as much as my watches.
Wow…for some reason this video made me remember the day I purchased my Accutron 214….I was always fascinated by timekeeping and all types of timepieces….I had the original Pulsar….and when I purchased a Rolex Sea Dweller ….well….finally perfection for me….. at least I thought so then. So many more purchases over the years …..this video really makes you think about the beauty of time…and timekeeping. THANK YOU!
True artistry in the creation of this video…Well done Sir.
More content like this please. You killed it.
Idk what to say…you just keep getting better, my man. Thank you for sharing your art with us.
Absolutely Amazing video, photos,music. Thankyou
Another classic,to add to the body of work.Captivating.
Your best video to date, sir. Top notch and worthy of TV. Outstanding content, informative commentary, visual interpretation and truly captivating. 👏
Excellent video!! Great contents!! A must watch (no pun intended) for all watch enthusiasts!!
Oisin you've really outdone yourself on this one, pure art
