Today I am talking about the two minor problems I have encountered so far with the Norden 901. Nothing serious, fortunately: coolant leakage and a loose headlight.
Thanks for sharing Norden brother! I live in Oregon, USA and have a norden with >2000 trouble free miles. Love it and hope you enjoy yours as much as I
I really hope they get the bike sorted for 2023 and also make more than 18 of them. This bike really just hits the perfect spot for me, I'm too broke to get a BMW 1250 or an Africa Twin, but just not broke enough to get this bike.
3500km here. I had loose nut on front right blinker. No coolant leaks, and rear shock holding up good (i hit jumps and hoops quite often) but I installed heat shield the first day, as I do single trails and tech stuff where I move slow, along with city riding. Had around 6-7 falls by now, only partially broke and welded right handguard. I kinda like them being plastic as they can bend a lot. I had worse experience with metal guards. Plastic around radiator seems intact. Skidplate is a joke as it is already bent and cracked a bit but it serves its purpose for now I guess.
I've seen multiple videos on the coolant leak issue and so far, the claim is that the clamp is loose on the upper radiator hose at the engine end. Well, my clamp wasn't loose, but I did tighten it. Still leaking. Going to have to disassemble to get a better look. Bikes been great otherwise. Also, to do an oil change you need to remove the skid plate. I'm not doing that next time. The oil filter will come out with no problem, it's the drain plugs that interfere. I will modify the skid plate with a small notch on the edge to allow the very long drain plug/screen assembly to come out.
Nice Video! Something totaly else, could you make a video comparison between the Garmin 276cx and the 700i? I really can't make up my mind and I would be interested in your opinion :)
Sent my Norden to warranty repair on Wednesday because of coolant leak. Similar to what you mentioned, leaked on the skid plate. They discovered the leak finally on Friday. A hose was leaking from between it's layers they said. Weird. New coolant hose has been ordered from the factory. Hopefully getting my Norden back next week. Odometer = 1300km.
My guess is OEM screw is special with integral spacer so it can't pull out the brass insert? Just a guess but it looks like it to me,,,I would insist on OEM part vis warranty
I know 2 people who've had this problem of leakage and seen several videos complaining about it.. It seems to be in every Norden 901 and is a factory sluff-off on quality control.
Wait until you buy a Yamaha...high pressure fuel line popped off at 80mph pissin' petrol everywhere, then the sump bolts fell out,and that started leaking oil...got off lightly compared to a CP3 engine!(1st run was to the Irish ferry to France from Glasgow,Scotland).
minor problems, but totally unacceprable ! so disappointing ! I tested 1 from dealer, which had stalling issues due to electronic part failing, on order by dealer but no delay indicated.
Country of origin is China. KTM/Husky fired their workforce and sent production to China. Its not their fault the people of China are smaller people and can't torque a bolt down as hard as the Euros did when they were built in Belgium/Germany.

Thank for this. I pick up my 2024 version next week so have asked the dealer to double check the hose clamps for me in advance.

Moin Kai. Danke für die Infos. Schönen Urlaub und pannenfreie Fahrt. Berichte mal, wie sich die Norden so geschlagen hat. Grüße von der Küste

There should be a bush in the hole where the headlight bolt goes that fits neatly in the bigger hole and has a little bit of clearance on the bolt.

My KTM 890 had that problem too.
Thanks for sharing. Do you feel any abnormal heat coming on your left foot?

blew a fork seal but my bad bottomed out hard miss judged terrain
Hey Norden folks, does anyone know where to find black stem protectors for 901? Not just stickers, thanks
Thermostat housing is a common problem as well 790 890 engines
Thanks! My whole gps & dash are shaking, maybe it’s the source of the problem
Hatte dasselbe Problem mit der Lampenschraube. Einfach weg oder nie da??? Es ist aber eine Inbus M6x12mm keine M5😎
Nice explanation 👍You have such strange mirrors, what is special about them. Greetings from Belgium
Those are ”Doubletake Mirrors”, sn american product. Using RAM ball system and are basically indistructable.
Have you heard anything about people having fuel smell? Mine does and the dealer could not figure out where it’s coming from. Thanks.
No, not heared about that. Mine doesn‘t smell either. Maybe dome blocked ventilation hose, creating overpressure once it gets warm?

What wrist watch are you wearing, if you don't mind?
Looks like it is some sort of Sinn military automatic watch...Very nice! Look them up.
It sucks they don't sell them in Canada.
They do sell them in Canada!
Missing a screw on a Norden 901 is unacceptable. However, problems happen. Thank you.

It was brown and sticky looked like chocolate so i tasted it. It was shit.
I think norden motorcycles are made in India so quality is poor.
Beware of camshaft wear.... totaly crap material... after 11k miles
Sounds like covid caused labor issues ....lots of tent gone and less talented training newbies
