Thanks for share your sincerly opinion about Norden, I'll be a new user next saturday. All the Norden user are proud about It. Thanks a lot from Barcelona
Excellent video! I’m loving my Norden and bought it in February and only put on 3000km and now it’s put away for winter 🥶. I like your chain oiling set up, very clever. I did find a very reasonably priced 4mm aluminum skid plate that’s made in Europe and it’s on sale in the US right now for $169😁.
The problem with waterpump air screw is that the painted surface that the copper washer seals against cracks. I sanded away the paint and used a hydraulic bonded m5 washer seal. Be prepared for leakage from the thermostat housing as well. This and the coolant hoses was my problems with Duke 890r 2020.
Just about to take mine in for the 600mi/1000km service, but i am absolutely loving it so far. It is a 2023 and have had none of the common issues that people report, like the hose clamps or headlight bolts etc, so perhaps they listened. Coming from a 2010 F800gs. Was a solid bike and took me all over the place, but definitely shows its age next to something with the benefit of 13 years of tech advancement. The Norden blows it away in every respect, have not had the opportunity to ride a 2020+ F850GS/A however. Totally agree with you on the noise. I don't want loud, but i do want it to sound good... Really wish this engine sounded as awesome as it performs.
A little late to the show but this was an extremely useful video. I have a deposit on a '23 model, possibly the Expedition if it shows up to the dealer before I lose patience and buy the standard model. Thanks again!
Definitely wait for the Expedition if it's available, I had to call every dealer in Canada for one. I got the last one in the whole country! It's a fantastic value for the rear shock alone.
Please wait for the Expedition. I know this out of experience. Also owned the standard. And now the Expedition. A totally different bike almost. Coming from an 1190R is could not get adjusted to the lowlyness of the bike. And the shock is also a problem. Really a problem if you go away from the tarmac often. It bottoms out very easily. And i could almost not ride it with 40 kg luggage. This was simply not duable. You will also need to buy a few upgrades. An engineguard, a add-on screen , GPS mount , maybe heated grips , in time you want the explorer mode. And i only mention the stuff that the Expedition has per default. And then you still do not have a Norden with the quality of the suspension as the Expedition has. Please do yourself a favor and look into these things. And by that overthink your decision. After owning one then the realisation will start kicking in. This probably will get you a bit frustrated about your decision. And by that taking out a bit of the fun you should be expereincing by owning an almost new bike. And by then the change will cost you a lot of money. Only if you are 100 percent sure that you will leave the bike as it is and if you have very short legs. Otherwise the Expedition is the way better option. The pricedifference is so low compaired to what you get extra. It is your choice but it would do you good if you would reconsider or atleast start overthinking these arguments again. Greetings from the Nerherlands,
@@keesverhagen9227 Your feedback is helpful to me. I am also considering these two models. In your opinion, will the Norden Expedition be worse when driving on asphalt and highways - compared to the standard version? (taking into account a little higher suspension and center of gravity)
@@jerzygroclinek5066 Not really. I think the Exped drives better on all terain. Also on the tarmac it drives more stable then the standard. Due to better quality suspension i think.

Great insightful review, thank you for taking the time to do it. I take it you have not experienced any issues with display fogging or break fluid reservoir leaking or any other legacy issues experienced with the previous model KTM 790/890) ?
Not sure about that. My shoulders are not that wide! :-) It’s normally a combination of factors like windshield height and shspe, body lenght and helmet type.
I have the '24 Norden Exp. Only complaint is the seat gets painful after 4hrs in the saddle. Will be adding taller risers in the future as I'm not as interested in looking like a competitor than being more comfortable on long stretches. These bikes sweep through corners & the option to hit the woods when the traffic jams up is always a plus. Your right about all plastic hand guards, $100 US per pair is a bit much. For the most part these bikes are a tad expensive up front & for on going maintenance (mandatory service intervals) Other than that they are a lot of fun. Thnx for your honest user videos.
Thanks for the detail info very interesting, the service is rather expensive 790€ KTM need to tighten up their PDI prior to delivery that's not good, thanks
Great review from an experienced rider. Thank you. Just picked mine up today. I typically ride more offroad down here in Australia. excellent review. In your 890 Adv R review you mentioned that you'll swap it for Norden because of rough suspension of Adventure R. How was the difference in practice, did it justify the swap?
For a perfect comparison I would have needed of course to ride one bike after the other. I picked up the Norden in spring, when riding was still not possible due to slippy roads, at that time I had not been on the 790 for like three months. My impression is that the 901 is of course slightly lower (which helps a short legged guy like me, even that I am used to get only one foot down), but also softer. For a TRAVELLER, who is not riding hard in very rough terrain, the 901 feels much more suitable, read more comfortable. You could say: 790/890R Ready to Race, 901 Ready to explore! What I definitely noticed is the smoother engine of the 901. On the 790 I mounted a 16t front sprocket to raise the rpms a little bit (it always felt e g at 50 like 3rd is a bit low, but 4th a bit too high). The 890/901 engine runs much smoother at lower rpms (around 3000).
Should this bike be suitable as first bike? How to compare the reliability with similar bikes like Yamaha, Honda, KTM? I am annoyed by sloppiness in the assembly and the quality when you take the price into account, nice real detailed review.
@King_of_The_North I understand because it's not a small bike, I am searching for a mid size adventure bike, because I like mountainbiking / gravelriding , searching for a compromise between off-road and a road bike, comfort, reliable, safety, that are the keywords for my new bike.
@@bendekimpe35 ohh ? huh , well something of that nature and size then anyway , nobody is going to learn how to ride off road on a 100+hp 450-500 pound bike , even very experienced riders have a hard time adjusting to one off road in my experience , from a proper 1 cyl off road or dual sport that is
nothing major, but then again, significant number of small annoying issues on a new bike, would be very frustrating for me... got myself a BMW F850GSA 2019 when it was brand new model, expected flaws as well, but so far 30 000 km and thankfully nothing, pure perfection... considering Husky Expedition in couple years as new bike as it seems super good but hope they do not follow KTM sequence of numerous flaws and issues...
Why not? Over 100hp should be sufficient to transport 2, but as on any bike you will meed to find a luggage solution. The driver’s seat for me feels very comfortable, guess the passenger seat is, too. Just keep in mind that on all bikes the rear spring rate is for something like a 75…80kg rider, not for a 150kg couple plus luggage. You can increase preload but that will not solve the problem of a too soft spring. If you ride a lot two up, you need to get a stiffer spring. That’s the case for all bikes. Just check out wind protection, some folks don’t like it.
My tyres pirelli's only lasted 4k km and the bikes is at 5.8L / 100km, maybe its because i make videos with the same perspective for more than 3 minutes... Regards
Sorry Paulo if I had been a bit harsh on your ladt video. But to produce good riding videos you need to put some serious effort into it. Look at folks like Norali ”Itchy boots”: she is running at least three cameras simultaniously to get good video footage. That’s why I gave up on it and instead only do ”informative” videos. It needs a lot of effort to make good riding videos. Just a helmet perspective gets boring quickly, no matter how good your riding is.
@@kai-uweoch1159 not everyone wants to do documentaries. I love there videos it it's not what I am doing. My bike needed a few upgrades like an engineguard , heated grips and so on. Also did orientate myself about a shock from Hyperpro. Wich would put me back something around 1400.00 Euro's.
As soon as i heard that an Expedition would come out i had mixed feelings about that. But asked my dealer for what it would cost me.
A lot ofcourse. But i decided to do so. I must say that this was a good decision. And when you take your calculator then it is not so bad.
I know the Exped is suiting me much better.
Thank you for your detailed experience and adressing that in this video.💪💪 Ride safe
Maybe we will meet someday cause Sweden is my land of choice to ride. Everytime i come back to Sweden in summer and do some extensive riding in nature.
Greetings from the Netherlands,👍
Where can I get a sticker 'ready to explore' from? ❤ I love it
Hi. Great video. I am getting my Norden and I would like to install the usb socket in place of the 12V original one: where did you get it? Thank you. Ciao
Hi Enrico, sorry I don't remember where I bought that one. Google should be able to help you, I saw that model from different sources. Just make sure you use the switched 12V connectors, if I remember right it's those that are connecting to the current 12V outlet.
Got it. Hallo Kai-Uwe, woher hast du das Usb-Lade-Dings? Die, die ich so finde, haben keine Abdeckung. Tolle Videos, kein pling pling, nur jemand, der von seinen Erfahrungen berichtet! VG
Nice summary! Where did you buy the side panels?
Are you experiencing excessive heating of the left leg from the radiator side?
Forgot to mention that: Those flat side panels are home made. Needed to buy a whole sheet (1m x 1m) of plastic, think it was polystyrene, 3mm.
He didn't mention that excessive heating...I think that is what annoyes me the most with this bike! Lot's of owner doesn't seem to be complaining about this? I've put a heat shield but it get's only a little bit better. Might ending up with a mid pipe decat next summer.
excellent review.
So what's better KTM 890 or Norden 901 ?
What about your mirrors? I think you changed them
Should this bike be suitable as first bike? How to compare the reliability with similar bikes like Yamaha, Honda, KTM? I am annoyed by sloppiness in the assembly and the quality when you take the price into account, nice real detailed review.
@King_of_The_North I understand because it's not a small bike, I am searching for a mid size adventure bike, because I like mountainbiking / gravelriding , searching for a compromise between off-road and a road bike, comfort, reliable, safety, that are the keywords for my new bike.
@@bendekimpe35 Id buy a 90's Honda transalp. They are very cheap, great milage, loads of parts and can be driven by everyone.

@@bendekimpe35 ohh ? huh , well something of that nature and size then anyway , nobody is going to learn how to ride off road on a 100+hp 450-500 pound bike , even very experienced riders have a hard time adjusting to one off road in my experience , from a proper 1 cyl off road or dual sport that is
Thanks for thiis - about to buy a Norden so I was looking for issues - looks like all small potatoes
How many years or km warranty it's given on this bike?
2 years warranty, no mileage cap.
nothing major, but then again, significant number of small annoying issues on a new bike, would be very frustrating for me... got myself a BMW F850GSA 2019 when it was brand new model, expected flaws as well, but so far 30 000 km and thankfully nothing, pure perfection... considering Husky Expedition in couple years as new bike as it seems super good but hope they do not follow KTM sequence of numerous flaws and issues...
Just started watching. Anyone of you, 2 up travel wth this bike. I want a travel bike that I can 2 up with my wife. Any thoughts on it please.
You can't make videos like there's without continuous stopping and adjusting, and it's not what am trying to do.... when I'm riding I am riding, not talking, not filming, just riding. It just happens i have a camera with me. I like to watch this kind of video's.
Just strange to me you would go out of your way to tell me they should be shorter. Hehe. Just as strange as if I came here telling you that you ride very verry slow and that's WY you don't have footage of you riding.
Do you get my point?
engineers aint work at the workshop as an service mechanic :D
How is it ok to have these issues on an expensive, brand new bike.....this is crazy!
This video is 1 year old, they have all been fixed already.
KTM -keep taking money
Most bikes have some kind of issues. Even German built BMW’s, and Japanese built Hondas.
it is ktm and it's not orange
Hi, is the bike assembled in CF factory? Some rumors says that 🫣
Really great review. Thank you
