    Husqvarna Norden have the WP Apex components similar to the standard 790/890 but with 220 mm of travel, not the Xplore of the 790/890 adventure R mentioned in the video. Tested the Norden yesterday. It’s a real beauty, my only real complaints are the budget suspension for off road and the overall feeling of the bike is more on road than off road. I road the Norden back to back with an old 640 Adventure and the old bike felt like a dirt bike with a large tank and a fairing.

      @@justsomedude445 I think there is a 'rally' upgprade available now for the norden. I saw one with the Xplore suspension...not sure though if it is available from the factory or not. For how long do you own a norden now? How do you like it for touring? I'm looking to buy a norden and it will be used mainly 70% road, 30% off road and my gf will be riding with me for the most of the trips. I did test the norden once, but only for about an hour or so, so I don't know all the + / - of the bike. Best regards

    I prefer the design of the Ducati, as well as its tank and the additional tank, but I do not know why KTM has put such short suspensions in the Norden.
    I have the impression that they don't want me to take the slice of cake off the market.
    In any case, the two bikes are really good and what scares me is the reliability of that Desmo engine on a trip of a certain length.

    Too bad that the only tires listed in the booklet have speed code V (240 km / h) and there are no alternative tires ... (it is difficult to find something less road with code higher than Q or at most H). Husquarna (ktm) made the same mistake that Honda made with the Africa twin just released (which he remedied with the clearance before ... for those who want to argue with the MTC and with the updating of the booklet then). This information that almost never gives anyone is that you discover only after buying the bike

      I have MS so I chance dropping it on my leg, like I did with dirt bike twice, but that is 7cm higher... Lot's of short guys with a higher seat are happy though; tippy toes at the lights, but they do alright, since they learn to never touch the ground anyway and you throw your hip to drop down at the lights, plus use the pegs to get on. No good if you need to kick some rocks going up a while with a camber. That's scary stuff.

    You guys originaly didnt give the Norden highmarks because your road tester crashed the bike and couldnt get over the fact that it works slightly different than a KTM 890 R adventure. Thus, i will not even read or watch your ADV Moto reviews because they aren't objective subsequently, Your team at Visor Down tried to flex against the Norden for egotisical reasons that are extremely not in accordance with proper journalism. So, if you are to distill what I'm saying, furthermore: You guys are unbalenced posers who do not perform and review ADV bikes fairly and unbiasedly. (Watch thier first and 2nd reviews of the Norden and by studying a few others, from the launch test in the Azores, one can gleen that the tester crashed it and blamed it on the bike).

    Desert X - a whopping 180 nm rear axle torque - so you’re stuffed if you need to put an emergency tube in unless you cobble a long arm nut spanner and absolutely stupid air filter placement for an adventure bike. Ducati, totally missed the mark - KTM/Husqvarna at least doesn’t have those issues. And KTM/Husqvarna haters, don’t even talk reliability issues in the presence of a Duke, lol

      the V4 is a fuel hog, the V2 not so much

  • @davidcolin6519
    @davidcolin6519 2 роки тому +4

    The 202kg dry vs the 217 kg wet should be equal when they're both wet. Erm no, the Duck will add close to 18kg in fuel alone. Add in about 3kg of oils and another kg or so of other liquids, and the Duck is starting to look quite porcine, especially with all that fuel right up at the top of the bike. All that weight being high up is going to make the Duck a real handful when fully fuelled, something which is patently NOT true with the Husky. From reviews by Big Rock Moto, it is clear that the Husky carries its weight impressively low, even for a KTM/Husky/Gas Gas.
    The reality is that, if you're buying any of these bikes for their off road behaviour, then you'd need to see a psychiatrist if you went for anything other than the Austrian brand. The only possible exception for that rule would be if you were going to do it far, far away from civilisation, in which case the Beemers tend to be slightly more reliable/easier to repair.
    But, honestly speaking, very few of these bikes EVER go off road. Which is a pity, because all these tests spend equal amounts of time on and off road. Why not just give up the pretence? Why even bother with promo videos of extreme enduro riders doing stunts? Why not just get real, and show boring, fat guys bumbling around the car parks of shopping malls pretending that they really are hard core/rock stars? This is a tremendous shame, because most of these bikes really are tremendous fun to ride off road.
    What a waste.

    • @paintup46
      @paintup46 2 роки тому +4

      Believe it or not, there are many of us who DO go off road, and quite a bit. It’s certainly doable with some previous dirt biking experience. People really need to get some dirt bike experience before getting into ADV lifestyle. That DUC will be a sick bike.

    • @davidcolin6519
      @davidcolin6519 2 роки тому +2

      @@paintup46 I didn't actually say that NOBODY takes them off road, I said very few will, and that is a fact.
      It certainly is doable with almost any of these ADV bikes.
      And wtf do you think the Duck will be sick? Unless, you actually mean that it will really be sick, ie it'll vomit you off at any opportunity, and as a projectile at that.
      As I said before, that lower weight, and it being so, so low on the bike, will mean that the Duck is going to need to be a hell of a lot better at everything else for it to be a realistic option if you're going to take it off road.
      And it may be perfectly capable, but to claim that it's going to be significantly better than the Norden, especially if you, as you claim, spend quite a bit of time off road, is a pretty bizarre statement.
      In fact that would be a bizarre statement even if you were talking about a manufacturer with significant experience in producing ADV bikes, like, oh, you know, a company like Honda, Yamaha or BMW. But Ducati probably have less experience of producing machines for off road use than almost any other company in the world.
      Yet you say "That DUC will be a sick bike."
      No. No it won't. It may, as I said before, be perfectly capable, but it certainly won't be "sick"

    • @paintup46
      @paintup46 2 роки тому +9

      @@davidcolin6519 The bizarre statement is your entire essay imagining where I claimed the DUC will be significantly better than the Norden. I never said anything even close to that. I said it will be sick, and I stand by that. I love that 950 power plant, I like the looks, the suspension, in the video anyway, looks like it handles the weight of the bike very well. With good skill, the weight and all the other exaggerated negatives you pointed out, really aren’t that significant. Maybe you hate Ducati, maybe you’re just a diehard KTM fan, I dunno and it doesn’t matter. The DUC will be a sick bike.
