Just watch you don’t get a ticket illegally towing without required tow mirrors (must be able to see down the side of the caravan).

Thanks for the honest comments and annoyance at having too many sensors, doing things you don't want, when all you want to do is enjoy your hands on towing experience.

    Hi Cruisemaster Team
Do I miss here something ??
I can’t get the point what you want to show and say with this Video 😢
Driving around with an empty 2 axle van with 3500 kg max capacity. Why you did not load it to the brim for a test??
Towing with a bock standard empty toy 300???. Why not fueled and loaded to max capacity and 4 pax inside.
Only shuttle drive on a road, mhhh…. 99.9% of all cruiser would not be empty.
Everybody knows very well that all new vehicles must have all this gimmicks. Live with it and have fun..
I like all this stuff very much in other people vehicles…. Big advantage for pre Modell driver…
And for sure there is no 1 button to turn off all in one go.
    Compare, compare you dare…
For me personally, love my 200 series pre PDF tows great with 850Nm, tune in the auto and lockup kit…ok had the rear parking sensors disabled. My Merc E class AMG convertible pre radar version, front and rear parking sensors, can live with it… and a little X3 with the inline 6 cyl. All diesel… You guess… yep has parking sensors only. But that’s me… and love to drive my Merc and X3 in Germany but hate the tap turnoff on 250.
So what?!, having a new vehicle and complaining all the new electronics doesn’t helps anybody watching this vid.
    Safe trip, next time….
    Cheers

Instead of paying the fortune for a new 300 series I've gone the other way and bought a decent 80 series which I'm going through and replacing all the worn out stuff on, I could put 10 rebuilt engines and transmissions through the 80 for the cost of a 300 and it's a joy to own, looks better and won't depreciate as they're collectable now....oh and the 80 is cool 😂

I have an identical van but I note that you are towing this van which would be empty in particular the absence of 255 litres of water and a payload of gear.
I went to the same ram 2500 you have to tow this van fully loaded and the 2500 tows this ridiculously easily. My van fully loaded is 3300 I get 16/ 100 at 95 Try towing with the 300 such a fully loaded van and you would have weight issues. Interesting scenario nonetheless

I went from a HDJ 100 manual to a 300 VX , towing 2500kg single axel van. The fuel economy at highway speed is much better around 15 l per 100 kilometres. Suspension has been upgraded and with accessories I have 500 kg load capacity left not brilliant but manageable. The automatic with 10 speeds really works well.

Interesting comments seems like the 300 is a love it or hate it SUV, while the 200 is a rugged 4WD? Do a comparison tow test with a 1500 seri3s American pickup from RAM, Chevy, Ford or even Toyota?

Disappointing to see towing without the required mirrors. If you can’t get that right, I don’t trust the rest of the test. I presume that Cruisemaster won’t mind if their customers don’t follow their requirements either.

I’m hoping everyone takes on your feedback and sells there LC200.
The LC300 is great car for 2 people. So hopefully everyone wants one.
You would be close to your GCM and GVM of the vehicle.

Defender 110 is great for towing. Even towing 3500kg with downball weight of 350kg (10%) you still have over 500kg payload available.
If you reduce your downball to 262.5kg (7.5%) you have over 600kg payload remaining.

    • @bushmagpie3312
      @bushmagpie3312 10 місяців тому

@@jerrymyahzcat be careful with European vehicles as a lot have 5% down all, there is a 200kg down all bar with 3500kg. The German towbar is 350kg download.
Also watch the Cruise Master Defender video on there ratings/deratings from JLR on defender.
I wouldn’t buy a pretender as they don’t appear to reliable, limited authorised repairers, no spare parts.
But main obstacle is JLR, not the dealers just JLR are not a reputable company to deal with. We had a RR, 7 times in repair in first year, 2 gearboxes in 4years etc.

@@bushmagpie3312 it seems here in Australia everyone is fixated on 10% downball weight. But that’s not a legal rule or requirement. Anywhere between 5%-10% is valid.
I wouldn’t buy a pretender either but the new Defender is great. They are no less reliable than many other vehicles.
I have already watched their Tow Test with the Defender.

@jerrymyahzcat There's a gentleman with a UA-cam channel who has a defender and is currently travelling around Australia. It's not even 12 months old and has already been on a flat bed twice and land rovers service has been a bit of a rock show.

@@jerrymyahzcatSome are fixated on 10% but not everyone. I agree the 10% figure quoted is a ‘general rule’ but 5-10% is the desirable range for ball weight.

I have a 300 yes the suspension is to soft for me I'll to get a GVM and CGM upgrade as far as towing Toyota need to have a lool at the new Ranger my has one the towing package is so much better then Toyota they need to have a good look at upgrade they system

To tow that size and weight carvan even empty the car is sitting low in the rear.
The Landcruser has poor load capacity around 650kg so you have to spend $7000 plus on an upgrade which voids Toyotas drive train and steering /suspension warranty. The suspension companies wont give you anything in writing to take up the factory warranty.

This is such a poor test as previous readers have commented.
No real load, and all sorts of vague comments about what ever.
I tow 3500kg with a LC200, no issue with gear shuffling ever and I just wonder if a V8 will out last all the high tec to make a V6 do the same work.
Not to mention they are too expensive when the big US trucks are cheaper and have more load capacity.

it astounds me that you spend so much on these cars when you purchases them new and you still need to upgrade suspension etc to make them tow a 3500kg van safely. Why don't Toyota make something that is more than capable without having to do any alterations?

Disappointing effort guys. You usually do much better. You didn’t even check the tare on compliance plate, no air in bags to compare with stock and van is nose up. And if you drove it more you would know that the torque converter in the 300 flares it’s head off on inclined take offs

Wow, so little features for the money. My 2014 31k$ LR4 has trailer detection, 250kw, 8 speed and gets 17l/100ks towing 3500kg. Plus self levelling suspension and much more. I won't be going backwards to a LC300 any time soon. What a rip off. Yeah go on, tell me LRs spend all their life in the dealers workshop. Ours has done 160,000ks of hard work and no repairs cept lower control joints costing 300 bucks.

The 6 speed in the 200 is the worst programmed gearbox I’ve ever owned. I wish Toyota had matched the V8 to the new gearbox or just programmed the 6 speed with just a little bit of competence.

Easy to do aftermarket, yes it's extra money on an already expensive vehicle. But go and get a TCM tune and you'll save alot of diesel and enjoy the drive more.
I went from a PX3 Ranger to my 200, and the Rangers Auto box was atleast 3x better than the 200s, I can't believe they sold the 200 tuned like that.
