The macabre tale of his death went down in rock n roll history. But there’s so much more to country rock’s founder Gram Parsons-from his time as a Harvard freshman to his efforts to push the sonic boundaries of music. Many people do not know Gram went to Harvard. Despite his middling grades and test scores, Parsons was admitted to Harvard University's class of 1966 on the basis of a strong admissions essay. I would love to read that essay. I know moral relativism is currently in charge. But the truth does not change according to our ability to stomach it emotionally. That is a paraphrase of Flannery O'Connor.

I have over 400 pictures on my cell phone, I look at them every day and I listen to his music every day, I can’t get enough of Gram. I think Gram knew he wasn’t going to be here very long. If you listen to his voice about 6 months until he was

Sorry I screwed up, I could hear his voice getting a little weak and cracking a little more, although I love his voice when it cracks

After reading several of Gram's bios, I think he was prone to mood swings. He seemed desperately depressed before his death and was self-medicating. It's great to see moments of happiness in his last year, usually when he was performing or hanging out with musicians. That childhood got him in the end. 🤠⭐

@@margaretross9150 Is Gram the only musician you follow? You seem to know a lot about him

Hi. I've known his name for years, but until 4-1/2 years ago I didn't even know what he sounded like or that he'd been a huge influence on musicians I already followed (Dwight Yoakam, The Byrds, Ian Tyson, and Emmylou, to name a few). One day I found out he co-wrote Sin City, and I was off like a hound chasing a rabbit and realizing how talented and heartfelt he was. Guess I'm not alone in that. Every biography I've read has been worthwhile. I'm just so glad he's being recognized today. Maybe a little of that love will meet up with him wherever he is. I've also learned how important childhood is. Kurt Cobain is another talent who didn't stand a chance because of that. Best wishes to you. Glad you're appreciating his talent too. @@linda.cafaro4284

It’s so sad how his voice got weaker toward the end of his life, his voice sounded so great when he sang with The International Submarine Band, I miss and love him so much.
