A beautiful song But so so sad
i love this song so much
❤
Another great recording from the Oberlin concert in 2/66. Would love to hear the full show of this as Carter was really in good voice, perhaps the last time it was captured on tape.
@@cliffordyaun6505 Indeed. The show is a remarkable one considering that Carter Stanley was on his last leg in 1966. He certainly rose to the occasion on this evening. My hunch is that he was respectful of college audiences (and the folk music scare in general). I reckon he hit the flask a bit less prior to this concert.
@@BillyQSmith So I'm assuming this is a live show that you acquired privately. Ant way I could get a copy of this show? I have lots of live bluegrass recordings down through the years. Maybe we could swap some music.

That is a great song. Earl Taylor was a great man, Lynn player and a great singer and his wife wrote this song.
Emmylou was so young then, think what could have been, she is without a doubt the best country singer since Patsy Cline.
Pick it, Ralph!
Can you post haunted house with little Ralph please
I've added it to my list and will try to get to it soon. In the meantime, here’s a link to a Google Drive folder with all 12 album tracks (plus an image of the original cassette tray card): drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ZEu5-wjiZbP-MBvk7bkIRaGHkjhNTphp?usp=sharing
Pete was a big deal in 1950s Richmond Va.🦇
Phil Ochs seems to be mentioned in this Norman Blake song "'76 Blues + 2" (1978), with the verse that begins around 1:29 with the lyrics, "I knew a man from New York State, believe me friends he tried, he believed in every word he sang then he hung hisself and died, it's a hard road he traveled on."
Oh. My my. Such a lonesome and Sad song
Authentic and Beautiful heart-felt Blue Grass music. Some of the best musicians on these WGAY radio broadcast! I've always loved this picture of the Bayou Boys. Looking at their happy faces brings everytime a smile on my face
Thanks for posting this song. I’ll have to listen to the Delmore Brothers version now … up until now I’ve only heard the version done by KD Lange, Kitty Wells, Loretta Lynn and Brenda Lee. I will be diving into the rabbit hole of this country classic now.
Here's my fav version (Jorma Kaukonen): ua-cam.com/video/FBccXuv0oKU/v-deo.htmlsi=a_Cam-5BD4d3IKc4
David was one of the good ones for sure. What a shame.
Indeed. I was devastated to learn of David Davis' tragic death earlier this week. He was a wonderful, kind individual and a true bluegrass music all-star.
Loved this song. I first heard it on a Ray Davis show and bought the album. So shocked at his sudden passing. He was such a really nice man. I remember talking to him at a show in Lucketts Va. Hope and prayers for his wife who was also in the accident.
What a great singer! Such a tragic loss. RIP to a great soul.
One of greatest tunes ever written, it is such a classic!
What an amazing lineup! Doesn't get much better than this!
I've never heard a bad version of this tune, it is truely timeless!
Classic!
Two of best the bluegrass has to offer! RIP Ralph and Bill you were the greatest!
Three of the greatest voices of all time!
What a great lineup of the Clinch Mountain Boys!
I enjoy this version it is very good!
Absolutely have to love that bass vocal of George Shuffler!
Buzz n Pete. The best of the best of the best.
Thanks Billy, that is great. I guess this album was never reissued on cd. My name is Paul, by the way .Deborah was my wife . She passed away four years ago. Are there any acapella songs on this album?
Nice to meet you, Paul. My condolences on the loss of your wife, Deborah. The songs “Children, Go Where I Send Thee,” “I’m Working On A Building” and “They Won’t Believe” are performed a cappella. Is this the only song you have recorded of the show?
No, I have the full show.
❤😊
I remember seeing Varney and Messer at a couple of festivals just over in West Virginia across from Martin County, KY (not far from home). I appreciated them for their old-timey style of music. I have an album of there's I still play from time to time. Seems like they were from that Mingo County area.
They were from Wayne county. Varney used to be a barber in the town of Wayne.
Love this song alot ❤😊
