When I was a kid back in the 70's, my family and I stayed in Lincoln's Cottage when we went to DC to visit my grandfather who lived in the "old soldier's home."
All I remember about it are things a kid might remember: it was nice and cool (in the summer heat); it had thick walls (my memory exaggerates, but the interior walls were nearly a foot thick :); there were cannons out front where we used to climb on. At the same time we stayed there, a kind woman who was also staying there while she visited her father in the soldier's home gave my brother and me little bronze figurines of the Lincoln memorial and Jefferson memorial.
Sounds like people don't stay over night there any more (while visiting retired soldier's). I consider myself fortunate to have this memory and glad to see the cottage being looked after today.

I learned a lot about the area and use of the cottage, but I learned nothing about the Lincoln family living IN the house. How about a virtual tour of the inside showing furniture, rooms, and memorabilia. What is in the house now that was in it when the Lincoln lived there.
