    About this visit:
They arrived Duluth May 28 2024 at 05:20 with a cargo of Limestone from Calcite MI for the Hallett Dock # 5. After finishing discharging the stone they did a dock shift at 12:45 and began loading Blast Furnace Trim (un-refined taconite rock). They Departed Duluth May 29, at 07:20 in the morning, making me a little late for work...
Well worth the time though, not too often you get such calm waters!
Fun little fact, the American Mariner was the ninth of 11 vessels built for American Steamship Co. under Title XI of the Merchant Marine Act of 1970. She is still carrying her same name as well. (during construction it was named the Chicago (3))
The M/V American Mariner is named in honor of all American seafarers.
    Construction
The M/V American Mariner was built by Bay Shipbuilding Corp at Sturgeon Bay, WI and entered service in April 1980.
    Equipment
The M/V American Mariner is powered by two 3500 HP General Motors Electro Motive Division (EMD) diesel engines. The vessel uses a conveyor system below its cargo holds to transport cargo to an inclined conveyor system that elevates the cargo to the deck-mounted boom conveyor. For maneuvering in port, the vessel is equipped with 1,000 HP bow and stern thrusters.
    Service
The M/V American Mariner is used in general trades, transporting iron ore pellets, coal, limestone and grain. This vessel is currently bareboat chartered to a third-party freight carrier.

Conditions like that in that canal don't come along very often. Nice reflection on the water.

Amazing conditions, looks like she is gliding atop a mirror, pretty reflections. Also conditions in the air made the horn sound really great. Great vid as usual Paul!
