      僕の立場からみると、この動画である学生は日本と強い二国間関係を持つ特権的な国の出身者です。ちょっと不公平なだと思います。

    My son is Spero. Thank you so much for giving him the experience to speak with you and being a part of this project. He has grown so much in the last year being abroad at APU. We could not be more proud of him and what he has achieved. Now I need to find time and energy to get myself to Japan for a visit. Being a former college administrator at the University of Southern California and the University of Minnesota I can say the APU campus looks awesome! You did an awesome job with the videography, editing, music, and capturing the people of APU. Thank you!

    i think it's a great thing! I've always wanted to go far away from home and do my best and study in these amazing environments, but due to my family's financial situation all i have is public university here in italy, which is already cheap since the fees are 2400€ max per year and every region has scholarship oprtions and the university has a fee reduction in case those don't go through. I am able to attend university without paying any tuition thanks to that, only paid the 16€ that is required for the government papers. I think it's a decent learning experience but nowhere near the experience students have at a large university campus. in my city the university has very spread out and small "campus" for different fields of study. for example mine is economics and accounting and my "campus" is just 2 buildings in the middle of the city, and i feel like, at least for and introvert like me, this doesn't help me with talking to other students because there is no common place to go and talk or do school activities that is not a small library or someone's house, and it's very difficult to just get invited into a stranger's house like that.
    Nevertheless I'm still working hard to get my degree and hopefully find a job not long after.

    Can't complain about my life, but I kinda wish I was 20 years younger... xD Though I'm not really sure if I'd qualify for a scholarship or exchange program one way or another, I did try applying to a Rotary based interchange program back several years ago after I graduated in CompSci, but the line was too long, and spots for it were limited, and the top candidates all had perfect English and Japanese language skills which I didn't (this was for post graduates), so it ended up not happening.
    I'm kinda curious as to how it would've gone... back then I hadn't even visited Japan yet (been there twice as of now), and now I'm also a Journalism graduate, needless to say lots of things changed. xD
    Still, awesome to see this coming from Dogen, knowing how much experience he has there... it's also impressive how more widespread this sort of information is becoming nowadays thanks to UA-cam and Internet in general. Back when I did my test I think I saw some stuff on websites, heard a bit from people who experienced it and were coming back, saw some photos, but it still kinda felt like going blind. I'd be far more confident and convinced if I had a video like this one available plus all the other channels that talks openly about their own experiences.
    Seems there will be great opportunities for cultural exchanges in Japan in the future... great video!

    I have a question for the APU staff, what is their policy towards "mature" students?
    I had to drop out of academic endeavours much earlier that I would like in order to take care of my disabled mother (I was around 20) who suffers from MS. I am now 36 and I would love to be able to get back into education, something that would be all but impossible for me here in the UK due to the costs (let's just say that being a carer has left me living below the poverty level).

      I’m a student here now actually and there are a few mature students around either doing undergraduate or graduate level studies. They usually just enter as normal students, there’s no real special policy towards them that I know of. I know some are able to bring their family over with them in some cases as well if that’s a factor for you
      I’m not a staff member so perhaps there’s other things I don’t know, perhaps shooting an email to admissions office would give a detailed answer?
      I definitely recommend applying if you’re interested in going back to school though or in learning some different cultures/languages ^^

    How much interaction do foreign students have with Japanese students?

    • @APUAdmissionsOffice
      @APUAdmissionsOffice Рік тому

      thank you for your question. It is quite difficult to tell you exactly how much interaction they have but basically we always encourage them to mingle together through courses and extracurricular activities. As one example, in our language course, we require an international student to study Japanese and a domestic Japanese student to study English so they do not feel too much language barriers.

    I'm currently a university student majoring in japanese, but I always wanted to do a 2nd degree, can someone like me apply as well? And if you get accepted can you do part time jobs? because my friend is in japan now, and he can't.

    • @Dogen
      @Dogen  Рік тому +1

      I'm not sure about second degrees, but it's certainly possible to transfer, and there are many different part time jobs available to , though I believe there may be a limit (20 hours?) on how many hours a week individuals with student visa's can work.

    • @APUAdmissionsOffice
      @APUAdmissionsOffice Рік тому +2

      thank you for your question! sure, you can come to an APU' undergraduate program as your 2nd degree. A part time job depends on their visa status and if they have a student visa and apply for work-permission, they will be allowed to work for up to 28 hours during a semester period and for 40 hours during breaks.
