Greetings from Cape Town South Africa - time now 08:30, just finished watching both your South African videos and now I’m super hungry and salivating, contemplating what’s on the menu for today. New subscriber 👍🏻
Eaten there numerous times, really really good. The workshop as well is excellent. Seabells in Tongaat is a must for their prawns cuury and rice.. A staple since the 1970s
Welcome to Durban! You went to some good places as well. Not the usual tourist traps. And yes please eat the Bunny with your hands! Much better experience!
Man I'm missing home. I moved from Durbs to Jozi recently and only found a proper Bunny a whole 18 months since living up here. I can't wait to visit home during Easter. Thank you Nicole.
I have had the pleasure of eating bunny chow at Goundens in Umbilo many times. One of the best bunny chows in South Africa. I now live in Margate and i miss the Goundens Bunny Chow.
Our Durban food is the best in the country hands down. Bunnies are the best South African food. I’m glad you enjoyed them. Gounden’s was one of the first mutton bunnies I’ve ever had and it was by far my favorite to date. Manhattan’s in Gateway Mall coming in 2nd and Brittania 3rd for me
Yay I found your channel by You Tube suggestions and I was your 1000th like on this Durban Curry Delight, well done, it’s my home town, I’m now in Cape Town for the last 24 years, come for a visit when you are in my hood 🎉
Very proud of you eating the Bunny chow! You actually eat it with your hands like all other Indian dishes.(Right hand only) . I am a retired chef so I love your show🆒😎👍!
@@SuperPetra101 because with your left hand you are supposed to wipe yourself and you eat with your right hand . Widely accepted as the norm in some cultures.
So I appreciate Nicole for coming out to Durban and enjoying what the city has to offer. Goundens is top, so your review is definitely consistent with local opinion. Someone should have given you advice on how to actually eat a bunny. Look we dont expect you to know, so not your fault but you definitely would have enjoyed it so much more if you ate it with your hands from the start... Maybe something for the next time.. Well done though.
Preference. I love Durban Curries. But as a Capetonian, I prefer a Cape Malay curry since its a taste of home. I realised this preference when I was 2 years in Johannesburg and you could only get Durban curries in Jhb. I had to make my own Cape Malay curries.
It is not so easy to find a good curry place in Cape Town. There are a few but you have to travel a distance to get to it. So I make my own every Thursday and my recipe is about the same as yours.
As a Durban local I have to say that Goundens curry is very good, but in my experience the absolute best bunny in Durban ( Believe me...I have tried most of them ) is Chetty's takeaway in Jacobs.
This is so refreshing to watch. Seeing you venturing to Durban (I am biased as a Durbanite) is so kewl. I miss the availability of affordable and tasty curry. Cape Town not doing it for me 😅.
Been to all of them...curry is good. O's refers to people...we will say something like "check that owe out". meaning "check that guy out"... Curry O's means curry guys.
Welcome to South Africa. We are diverse in our food. If you liked the spicy Durban food then the Cape Malay may just be the thing for you. Awesome food.
Hi... Welcome to Durban my home town... The best bunny place u must go to is Hollywood in Springfield.... It's devine verity of foods..you must eat with ur hands 🙌🙌🙌
Man that bunny chows looked so mouth watering Goundens are truly the best❤you will never go wrong but the whole idea of a bunny chow is to eat it with your hands just as long as you wash them before eating other than that you good to dig in
I grew up eating bunny chow's and now, back in the UK and a retired chef, I still make myself a good mutton bunny at least once every two months or so. The ultimate street food and so very filling. Just one comment I must make is that knives and forks are a no no. A bunny is eaten by hand only.
I'm so happy you got yo try the Indian dishes in Durban. Tips for your next time. 1. Say Samosa like you're saying "u" and not "o".😅 2. Eat the bunny chow with your hands. Remember to wash them nicely first. 😂 3. You must try the "butter chicken." It's a must.🫡 4. Go visit the dolphins, you'll fall in love with them. 🥰 Enjoy. 🎉❤
Curry Os doesn't stand for curious 😊 OU's is actually slang for boys , so it's curry boys, thank you so much for highlighting Durban, and Yesss bunny's are best enjoyed with your hand, but it's your first time so now you know 😉
Nicole why never say you was also coming up to Durban after Cape Town, my hometown, I would have recommended the top spots (for a Bunny Chow). My 3 favourite and most consistent places for a Bunny Chow in Durban are: 1) Curry O's, Point Waterfront (but you ate Biryani there) 1) Happy Chappy, North Beach 1) TSD, Chris Hani Road **** You never, ever eat a Bunny Chow with a knife and fork. It's eaten with your hands. Anyways, if you are still around, give it a try again at one the spots I've mentioned. PS: Goundens & HollywoodBets (IMHO) are not the best Bunny Chow eateries in Durban, as most Durbanites make it out to be. PPS: Why you never pour the Dal over the Biryani? 🧐 Potato Samosas for 4 for R35, that's a huge rip-off. Normal price for 4 Samosas is R12, maximum R16.
Thanks for all the recommendations!! I’ll have to go back to curry o’s and get the bunny chow as well! Also.. I never even thought of pouring Dahl over biryani🤯 I usually put it over plain basmati but biryani would be another level!
@@nicolemd33 and yes our Biryani is made with Lentil Dal in it, that's why I can't eat the Indian version, to me it's just coloured rice. My late Nani made the best Biryani, and I can't find any place that can come close to how she cooked, maybe that's why I'm so fussy with regards to my Bunny Chows as well.
Oh yes! Off the beaten track. Small outlet for the local industrial workers in Jacobs. Top chow there.😋👌 a mother, her son and wife were operating there many years back. Was working at SHM Eng. that time. Best puris I've ever had! Not oily, and fluffy. Get your quart there too😊👍👍
Eat some for me we’re all drooling watching this! I’m actually showing a client while her hair has color on it. We’re drooling over your food, chow chow. And Ciao Ciao xoxo
Use your hands to eat😂 and try eating South African food not just indian food in South Africa Also try PAP with and side, shisanyama/braai(meat), phuthu, samp&beans with pulled beef(i don't know the name of the dish), kota/Sphatlo, head(sheep or cow), Mala Mogodu, Morogo, Chakalaka, Biltong and Umqombothi.
