@@zarkerthegamer he was one of the original devs of the Stalker series, he volunteered to stay in Ukraine and fight along with a few others from the dev team. He died while fighting for his country.

All things considered, I'm amazed this game is still coming out. If ever there was a project that earned the right to go on indefinite hiatus, it's this. But I love that the team is pushing through and I hope this game gets all the recognition it deserves.

Please let this be as good as it looks. It'd be a testament to true game designers if it is. Say what you want about AAA games, if this game is good, it'd show that even a full-blown war can't stop good game design, so other AAA devs will have no excuse for bad design.
Dont worry if its not that good modders will fix that. Like they did with Anomaly Gamma.
That's a good sentiment, but some may take it too far. We don't know everyone's situation - maybe these devs have been lucky in their situation, and maybe other war-stricken devs will not survive to hear righteous gamers saying "no excuse."

The studio is no longer based in Ukraine. They moved out and are developing in another country now.
Hyped for the game and even more hyped for the mods that will come later.

As a someone who’s recently just discovered this series and have been playing through Shadow of Chernobyl this absolutely hits all the right notes for me. When I learned about the games I went back and read Roadside Picnic and watched Stalker. This game looks to be absolutely nailing the tone.
I suggest to play free standalone mod STALKER Anamoly + expedition mod after playing originals.

Soviet cinema produced a grand amount of great and experimentative directors and writers, Andrei Tarkovsky was one of then. It barely has any action scenes and guns in it, so don't go in expecting the same style of narrative from the games, but it's a mindblowing piece of art
The gameplay is still like the old STALKER that I know and love but more story driven than before... instead of text of dialogues we get to see the story act out and the world looks soo much alive... Much respect to the developers
Will there be a version in Ukrainian with English Subtitles? Its very immersion breaking for me to hear all the characters speak english

Xbox has a trailer from a year ago that is in Ukrainian with English subtitles.
I usually play games with English dub (e.g. Metro, previous S.T.A.L.K.E.R games, etc.), but the English voices sound completely out of place here.

Emissions are a critical part of S.T.A.L.K.E.R's identity and what makes its world feel so alive and real, in my opinion.
I hope we get upgraded emissions not only graphically but mechanically as well.

I played some mod (didn't start from vanilla because I didn't play on my PC at the time), progressed a bit, quicksaved, then the emission warning came up, I tried to hide in a house, but it still killed me, kept reloading (I quicksaved RIGHT before the first warning) but any further attempt was futile. The lesson I learned from that - do not use a single save file. Save manually instead.
I feel like the game may move away from the sandbox feel the originals had. The simplified UI looks cleaner but I truly hope all of the original game's mechanics are still there and more

Specially in survival mode, special mutant hunting quests will be amazing. like witcher 3 hunt quests. Side quest loops like this make this game more interactive.
after having recently watched the original 'Stalker' movie by Andrei Tarkovsky, I found it very cool to see metal nuts used as a means to detect anomalies, like in 'Roadside Picnic' (the original novel the Tarkovsky movie was based on), as well as the almost religious fervor some of the characters seem to have for the Zone, but also in the ways that the devs and writers attempted to veer away from the original themes of the novel and movie - instead of a meteor causing the Zone and anomalies, it was a product of human experiments, there seem to be warring factions within the zone and the anomalies present seem to be a lot more mind-bending than those present at least in the movie (though this could have something to do with the fact that Tarkovsky's adaptation came out in 1979, before the advent of more advanced and realistic computer-generated visual effects).
As a fan of the Metro books, Stalker, and the overall genre of Post-Soviet Sci-Fi, I am thoroughly looking forwards to this absolutely stunning game and what it will bring to the table for the genre in the games industry at large.
Tarkovsky’s adaptation has nothing to do with lack of computer technology. Tarkovsky has openly admitted to not being a fan of science fiction, Stalker (the film) is far more surrealist and philosophical, with its themes being centred around questions of faith and belief. Really most of the science fiction elements of roadside picnic are abandoned. Stalker (the game) feels more spiritually connected to roadside picnic.
Metal Bolts have been a staple in the stalker games for years.
@@alecjetha239 I agree, the stalkers in both the games and the book are treated as rugged mercenaries wheras the film portrays the entire stalker motif as a pitiful down on his luck illegal tour guide.
I dont care how it'll look I'm just very happy that the team still have the urge and the passion to work on this project after all the horrible things they went true, i'm praying one day and soon Ukranian people will be free and safe
Never played a Stalker game, but have always know about them. Looks very interesting and can’t wait to give it a go.
It's based off of a novel, which was turned into a movie and is popular in Eastern Europe. It rings back to Soviet Era fears of nuclear war.
STALKER is basically a more realistic Fallout. In every way.

Play anomaly its free customizable and not so janky
It's nice that they have distanced themselves from the basically black-and-white super-gray "aesthetic" of so many stalker mods and made something that's colorful as well as intimidating. A hard balance, but they've struck it here.
what a precious gemstone of a game is coming, hope it is so open and lore friendly to modding as stalker always has been, if that is the case this game will still be evolving even 15 years after been released...for now, it is stunning the level of refinement in-game, well worth the 110€ they ask for the ultimate edition

Compared this to the metro series until I remembered that this is probably the original. Good on the devs for managing to even get this out while their country is being invaded. Bless the devs and bless this game
Not all got out a bunch stayed to fight and that’s why I had to pre order to show what little I could to support the company and the people who are working even while their homes are being destroyed and not knowing if their family’s are safe

I suffered through 100% completing the original 3 at 15-30fps on a terrible laptop, been a huge fan of chernobyl for years, unbelievably excited for this but I still don't have a way to play it yet 🤣😭
Stalker is like Warhammer for East Europe and Central Asia. I've got like 14+ books written about side stalkers, and they are freaking awesome. There was a time, 10 years ago, when every book store in my city had a special shelf with books from stalker universe.

I fear for the quality of this game's story. Some of these cutscenes give off heavy triple A marketing vibes
they probably would've had more cutscenes like this in the old games too if possible, instead the camera would just pan around characters when they were speaking. then you had a few CGI cutscenes in ShoC and CS.

Super hyped for this! Love the UI, love the atmosphere, reminds me a bit of tarkovsky’s Stalker. Really hope this doesn’t have multiplayer or at least doesn’t have multiplayer for the first month or so of the games lifespan
Tarkovsky Stalker is a nice movie but kinda crappy.I would reccomend to read the book on which the movie and the games were based on."RoadSide Picnic" by Strugatsky.Reccomended
The first games did have multiplayer so I hope this will have it too, though the focus should be on polishing the SPC first

the story in the OGs was awesome and now for the secuel they are also making it cinematic, god this is getting better with every reveal

I'll say one thing - you can take as long as necessary to finish the game. Release it in 2030 if necessary. But make it a good game. It deserves to be a great game.

1:30 - not a good sign that an enemy can eat an entire clip in the head before even flinching.
That's the difficulty they have it on Master difficulty they die instantly to a shot to the head
they are doing virtually no damage to the player either, it's probably for the trailer.
That's how mutants are in the series.

I am very skeptical about this game. There have been much drama and questionable decisions surrounding this studio, and the war is also taking its toll. But this looks quite pleasant! Im beginning to feel hopeful.
GSC renew the stalker-development very often and now we had this modable game since 2007 and see what the community do^^ if one dev crew should be trusted, then its gsc gameworld
