The front sight is removable if you don’t like it. It’s a partridge style so you can swap it out with a brass bead (my favorite) or whatever else you want. Not to mention the low mounted rail for an optic ie. red dot. This PC model is designed for a red dot with the iron sights as a backup only. For only $250 more over the regular model 41, it’s a no-brainer to buy the PC version!! Better trigger & better crown for $250… yes please!
My brand new performance center arrived and the only feature that worked was the mag release. Could not rack the slide, could not move the safety, could not pull the trigger guard down for disassembly. Nothing Worked! Sent it back and I think it is ok, but not enough time with it it yet.
If it isn't broken, don't fix it. Leave it the hell alone. I have two of them from 1970 - 73, both with Muzzle Brakes and 4 different accessory barrels. 5 inch with sliding rail sight, 5 inch Bull Barrel with 2x Bushnell Scope, 4 inch thin personal barrel and both came with 7 inch barrels with Muzzle Brakes. Cost in 1970 when I was 17 years old and my mother bought it for me - $141.00. Cost in 1972 - $152.00. All accessory barrels cost $25.00 each and the metal magazines cost $12.00 each. Both of my model 41's are still in pristine condition as I haven't fired either of them in over 30 years. Oiled and protected with no rust or dings on either. I wonder what the whole package would be worth today? No, they are not for sale.
Examine them well before you buy. Mine has a crooked slide. Horrible fitting between slide and frame. Treated like dirt by SW customer service. LGS reached out to their rep. Rep agreed gun needs replaced, been without the gun since June.
Update: gun was replaced by SW. Lots of run around and lies, but with help of LGS and his SW rep got it replaced. The replacement is perfect, proving the crooked slide was indeed not normal.
I’m picking up a used nearly mint 1970 model today with the cocking indicator, deep traditional bluing and a set of competition iron sights. If I wanted to put optics on it I wouldn’t buy a 1,000 dollar plus target pistol. No S&W this is a fine gun but there are zero improvements over the old models.
I have one and love it, but that isn't why I am commenting here. I wanted a nice set of target grips for mine and decided to go with some Nill grips made in Germany. They look awesome off the pistol and uninstalled. They are very high quality OUTSIDE and would be perfect if they FIT!! I'm not kidding you....it took me 4 1/2 -5 hours of carefully working on these with a Xacto knife and 600 + 2000 sand paper. On and off the gun 100x very very carefully removing material. Call me crazy, but for $235 shipped that is plain ridiculous. They should pay my labor for my work because I THOUGHT I was buying a pair of grips already made. They look fantastic now, but I guarantee you I will never buy another pair I don't care what their reputation abroad says/is. With CNC machinery these days in 2019 that is unacceptable. We aren't talking 0.001" - 0.003" oversize. I bet I had to remove 0.025" - 0.035" just to get them to fit on the frame. They don't align perfectly now and have a small gap at the base....imagine that. Had they been machined properly and fit from the start you wouldn't be altering critical dimensions by hand. It would have been done on CNC equipment and as perfect as you can get. I've also found out Hogue fancy hardwood wrap around finger groove grips don't fit worth a shit and need heavily altered too on my Colt Defender 1911 .45. They won't fit on a Rock Island Armory Compact Officers at all and can't even be altered enough to fit. They also were not cheap and $110ish. Why is it Wilson Combat grips fit without issues? Why do VZ G-10 grips fit without issues? Why do stock S&W grips fit without issue from gun to gun both semi-autos and revolvers? Somebody needs to learn how to correctly program and run CNC machine equipment. For these price point that is clearly unacceptable. They should pop on with a very snug fit and hold tight with no wiggle or gaps. Last I noticed the guy shooting was using the modern tactitard thumbs forward grip style while shooting those pathetic groups. I was just about to say something when I noticed how bad he was shooting. That is mallninja hokey ....nobody who is accomplished or any good shoots like that. On a S&W M-41 your big fat sausage "fumb" is riding flush up alongside the slide for one thing slowing down it's cycle speed. His group sizing at such a close range proves it. God made a notch in the trigger guard on most pistols for your supporting hand index finger to rest to control muzzle flip and recoil. It also steadies the pistol for more accurate pinpoint shots. Anybody who started shooting before like 2005ish would ALREADY know that! www.google.com/search?q=THUMBS+FORWARD+GRIP+PICS&client=firefox-b-1-ab&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjikoPn0_vfAhXqs1QKHc_ZDtMQsAR6BAgEEAE&biw=1280&bih=677 ua-cam.com/video/i7slAvhZhRw/v-deo.html John
Hell , my S&W 22 Victory is more accurate then that at that range or he's a sorry shooter ! And $1600 for that crappy accuracy ?? Not very impressive IMO .
It's the shooter most definitely. The S&W M-41 is more than capable of emptying it's magazine into a group you can cover with dime at 25+ yards given the shooter is capable. Don't flatter yourself....the Ruger Mk IV is a better pistol than a S&W Victory.....
Been wanting one for years. Just bought it and waiting for it to arrive.

Just bought Ruger mark 4.

Yikes.
I will stick with the basic 41. That front sight is obnoxious.
Couldn't agree more. Why don't they ever demo at fifty yards? Calling a 5" group at 25 yards "accurate" is a joke.

Guns are for shooting.
Is the rail installed by tapping and drilling the barrel?
No, it was machined that way from the factory.
if you see one BUY it . they now sell for 2485€ not $ in Belgium
The rail destroys it, as does the front sight.
Have you shot one? The sights are remarkably crisp and the trigger is by far the best I've ever felt?
Destroys what? You want a pretty gun get a pink Glock or a Gangster Glock.
Нравится такое. Почём?
smith wesson calibre 22 gt modelo 41 con tapa boca quien me puede decir el precio soy de venezuela

Testing accuracy under 25 yards is a joke. I much prefer the non PC version. 😊

Don't like the picatinny rail. Can't imagine it being better because it's soooo good already.
Sweet!
I would like to find a shop to buy one.
Looks liked they ripped off the Clark's Custom Guns barrel.
For over $1500, it better be accurate.
1700 after taxes, but my god is it worth every penny. I haven't sighted it yet, but the groups are staggering lobbing them out at 75 feet.
Saw one at a big box store yesterday, price was $1599.
