I love your covers rufus. I’ve been playing around 17 years (still suck 😂) just completely changed my setup and now own a Dingwall ng2 and a dark glass micro tubes 500. Also playing with a .60 pick nowadays from having been a fingers guys most of the time before. What can I say? I’m on the Nolly train and I’m not getting off. Keep u the amazing work you rock 🤘🤘🤘

I use cort artisan (5 strings active/passive)
Imagine how it sounds in this thing..
Appreciate u sharing your tricks of the trade! The sound your gear produces is crazy! I use a 4 string Paul Gray sig and 6 string Ibanez on a Peavey TNT 15” setup. Descent for just messing around. Might look into the AO. Thanks Rufus🤘🏻🤘🏻

Ah, so your bass is active/passive.
I've been wondering about those for a while since I love the sound of both active and passive.
Do they sound amazing with both settings or are there things they lack?

I think most settings sound good in their own right, but I prefer passive because that's the most natural starting point for the bass

Just Perfect, no bunch of pedals and cables around and simmilar stuff, simple and clean! And there's one thing I like most - you're not using those headless shit basses just to pretend ,, you live in the future'' the basses you have and use are great color, really interesting built and if you can - use the thunderbird shape one more in cover videos..Keep up bro!
Yea, it's a rather simple set up 😂😂 tbh I like some of headless designs like strandberg Boden, but they're feel too small and almost guitar-like in some sense... They look really cool though (and literally perfect travel basses because it's so small 🙈🙈

I've just started trying to record myself playing and i wanted to ask you: Are you just using the darkglass head straight into the audio interface whitout any plugin?
thank you, there is noise gate and compression plugin in the DAW but the darkglass head is the main contribution to the sound as you can hear in 4:26 =)

Interesting you have your drive turned all the way down but when you switch to the AO channel you get a ton of distortion. I also have the AO900 and mine has minimal changes while switched channels with the drive all the way down( no dist) how did you get yours to do that?
hm... if you consider how overdrive works, there are a few variables comes to play (how hard do you attack, your gain level on the amp, strings freshness, etc), so adjusting the amp, bass, and playing to get that overdrive trigger point is important too imo
What kind of cab sim do you use in your Alpha Omega 900?

Hey dude What exact cables are you using for the pre di/out ?
Great run down. Are you using anything to split your signal to bypass the amp for DI, or does the amp have DI out and Amp out?

Rufus Mann thanks. I should have researched it before asking rather than after 😅. I have the BK7 Ultra v2 but I’m seriously considering this after watching your demo. The bk7 doesn’t have pre DI so recording is a little more complicated. It also means I probably won’t need a compressor. Decisions to make!
Hey, just found your channel and really enjoying the content! Just one question, do you have the Darkglass 900 connected to a cab and have that mic'd, or do you have it connected to an interface straight to a computer? And if you dont mind me asking, what does your signal chain look like in all?
Bryan it’s just connected to a computer through an interface, my signal chain right now is just bass -> ao900 -> interface -> computer 🙈

So i have a question..i also play bass but i have 0 content. i want to start uploading, all i have is my Fender Jazz Bass Deluxe. You’re saying all i need is the interface and the darkglass to record my sound? I would love to get an idea of how to record a video..
Yea, just interface and the darkglass amp in my case... I use the neural dsp darkglass ultra plugin when I feel lazy and don't want to plug everything in too, but yea it's a pretty simple with decent result imo 🙈 you can record videos as long as you have a phone, and you can sync your audio and video later in post
Just want to add, you DO NOT NEED the dark glass, yes ofc it is great fun and a amazing bit of kit, but if u on a budget and just wanna record bass, just need a scarlet DI and a decent recording software, plug-ins will be a cheaper way to achieve a sound simular to the dark glass (not as good but still good) but I have no experience with plug-ins so couldn't point u to which would be good

How comfortable are the 37 inch basses to your 35 inch basses? I'm trying to decide whether to get the btb805ms or ehb1265ms but the length is the only thing keeping me from making my decision.
hm... overall ergonomics and design comes into play more than scale length alone imo... give both a try if you have a chance 🙈
