@@tatocta I play in B standard too because I also own a 5 string bass. It’s usually easier to play songs like this in standard tunings bc that’s what the 5 string comes tuned to standard (unless you get a signature model, like the Ibanez K5 Fieldy model, which comes tuned in A standard (ADGCF)

To be fair though, this guy uses a 5 string here, when in reality SlipKnot only used a normal 4 string bass for this song, which is of course not as heavy and deep as this 5 string used in this Cover example...
But either way, even the normal 4 string bass was tuned to Drop B in the original song, which comes at least very close to a real 5 string, which has also the same B standard Tuning (although it sounds much deeper and heavier on a 5 string of course)

Even on The Gray Chapter - Custer, Im pretty sure its Paul in the beginning that comes up with the intro riff, like a cool tribute to him as well.

The main thing that he’s actually done is take parts of the guitar melody and apply it to bass. Paul’s lesson was literally him explaining how he plays it and how it therefore should be played. Personally I don’t agree with the high parts during the verse, or the lack of tremolo that he used on the low parts as it isn’t what Paul did. But each to their own I suppose

such heavy tone! on point!
This is a great cover, and I loooove your low and mid tone, but something about the treble tone bothers me for some reason. It's much brighter and louder than the lower part of your tone, so when you play those parts where it goes above the bottom two strings it sticks out a lot and has a harsher buzz than the low end, almost like 90s-00s pop punk bass.
Just my personal two cents - I switched from roundwounds to flatwound strings a couple years ago and it really changed the way I feel about bass tone, but that's just me.
Thank you, that's probably because I try to get a sound that even layman can hear on a phone speaker 😂 but the trade off is very treble-ish 😂🙈
