      And then put everything in the ground? That should work too. And it will indeed be a confirmation that everything is securly in place. While doing that, you can even screw the empty buckets to the wood as well. That way you'll be sure they wont come loose either!

    • @BarRookie
      @BarRookie  5 років тому +1

      I don't think that will be stable enough. You would want a larger base for that. The smallest amount of swing will make the construction fall over. Unless you have very large buckets that are also very wide.

    I just installed a 4x4 post with a 1 and a quarter inch outer diameter black iron bar that I painted with forest green Rust-Oleum enamel. My bar is about 9 ft above the ground. The posts were a little bit wobbly but I fixed that by attaching a set of dip bars to one of the posts. The other side is attached to my porch. And because I am only about five foot seven in, I installed climbing holds up the side of the post. Sometimes using the holds to get up to the bar is the funnest part.

    • @BarRookie
      @BarRookie  5 років тому

      Damn, sounds like a very solid construction. Its weird to me that 4x4 posts are still wobbly. Maybe You didn't put it deep enough into the ground?

    if so don't do that the next time you have a projekt like that. the pole will always stand in water if the water cant get away. dig your hole put the post in put a little dirt or gravel in so the bottom of the post is covert and then your concrete.

    What did you mean when you said out the buckets in the ground? Are there actual plastic buckets with the cement in them in the ground?

    • @BarRookie
      @BarRookie  8 років тому +1

      Yup, there are indeed buckets with cement in the ground, as sort of anker points for the poles.

    • @ZeNex74
      @ZeNex74 6 років тому +1

      cement in buckets and around buckets?

    • @MrSchwa-jz6tb
      @MrSchwa-jz6tb 6 років тому +1

      In the buckets and around. You fill the whole bucket with cement to anchor the poles, then you fill around the bucket to anchor the anchor. It depends though how wide the whole is. You probably just want a bucket to fill the whole so it fits snug and you don't buy/waste more cement than necessary.

    • @BarRookie
      @BarRookie  3 роки тому

      That could be to thick, but it will help you train your grip.

      On this exact bar we've put diagonal side beams to prevent that. But that was a flaw in the design.

    Just wondering, what drill do u use to drill the hole big enough for the pole ? Plz

    • @BarRookie
      @BarRookie  4 роки тому

      I used a flat self cut wood drill. But you can also use a forstner bit or a hole saw bit. Depends on what you have laying around. If you need to buy stuff, the hole saw bit is more versatile.
      Make sure to take the diameter of your bar.

    Hoe noemen die stukjes voor de baar vast te maken in het hout? In de beschrijving staat er end caps maar ik vind niet wat het is. Bij mij zitten de palen al in de grond enkel de baar moet er nog aan vastgemaakt worden

    • @BarRookie
      @BarRookie  3 роки тому +1

      Hangt er van af. Je kan de baar door het hout boren. Dan heb je geen stukjes nodig. Maar andere vijzen liever de baar aan de palen en dit kan met een flens (flange in het engels). De encaps zijn vooral als je een bar hebt met schroefdraad, dan kan je dopjes voorzien

    It was wobbly when you only tapped it with your hand :( Need solid construction. What will stop the metal bar spinning?

    • @BarRookie
      @BarRookie  5 років тому +1

      Yes indeed. The thing that I would to differently (and which I did in my own house), is to use thicher wood. More like 14 by 14 cm. This will make it a lot sturdier.
      The way to stop the bar from spinning is by drilling the holes just big enough. Then you need to really squeeze the bar into it. And when the wood expands it will tighten it. You can also just put a bolt into it.
      Hope that helps!

    I wouldve made it all above ground.. no cement necessary, and you can take it elsewhere if you were to move. Install a peg about two feet up from the ground so u dont have to jump to get on the bars.

    Jow mannen,
    Onlangs begonnen met Calisthenics en dacht er ook aan om een eigen bar te maken! Waar hebben jullie het materiaal gekocht? Wat is de lengte en diameter van jullie bar? Ondertussen hebben jullie het al een tijdje, zijn er dingen die je anders zou hebben gedaan achteraf gezien behalve de extra steunpalen? Ben ook van België btw :)
    Greets

    • @BarRookie
      @BarRookie  8 років тому

      yo yo yo,
      De afmetingen staan in de description. het materiaal hebben we gekocht in de doe-het-zelf (gamma).
      Dingen die ik persoonlijk anders had gedaan zijn:
      - een dikkere bar (1 inch ipv 3/4 inch)
      - dikkere houten balken (10x10) gebruiken zodat die steunbalken niet nodig waren
      Dat is het zo'n beetje. Anders heel content van de pull up bar!
      Beestig om nog iemand van Belgie tegen te komen! :D
      Van waar precies?

    caps on end? how stop spinning?

    • @BarRookie
      @BarRookie  6 років тому

      The caps are for preventing that things get into the bar, like bugs and stuff.
      For us spinning was not an issue because it was a very tight fit. If you find your bar spinning, you can put a bolt trough the wood and the bar.

      Hahah, Goede vraag! :D
      Eerst en vooral tonen dat je gemotiveerd bent om te trainen en dat het iets is dat niet binnen 2 weken zult opgeven.
      Daarna, toon hen dat het relatief low-profile is, tenzij je een super kleine tuin hebt natuurlijk!
      Nodig hen uit om ook gebruik te maken van de Pul-up bar!
      Of, je maakt de pull-up bar 's nachts en hoopt dat ze deze niet zullen wegnemen xD

      BarRookie haha nou ik ben al ongeveer 5 jaar bezig met fitness en er is op 20-30 minuten fietsen een calisthenics parkje, alleen ik heb niet altijd zin om zo ver te fietsen, dus zeggen mijn ouders dat ik maar naar de sportschool moet gaan, alleen het probleem daar is dat mijn sportschool (waar ik dus al 5 jaar naartoe ga) geen goede pull-up bar(s) heeft, dus nou is hun argument dat ik het al 5 jaar daar heb gedaan dus het nog steeds moet kunnen, ook willen ze het uitzicht niet verpesten (ik zou hem natuurlijk ook gewoon in de zijtuin uit het zicht kunnen bouwen). Denk dat ik het laatste maar proberen! ;) Toch bedankt voor je reactie :D

      Brandon Burrows Have you tried asking around? Maybe some people have a decent pipe laying around or some wood. This can help to shave some dollars off the price.
      A door pull up bar is also a great thing to have, definitely cheaper and more portable. However, you can do less tricks on them.
